Whales and dolphins that we came across. The Blasket Islands and the resident seals. The weather was perfect. The release of a Manx Shearwater bird from our boat trip.

Brilliant experience!

This was honestly one of the best days of my entire life. We went on the all day tour to Blasket Island on a beautiful blue day. The island is well worth a visit if you're reasonably well and up for a walk. I am not especially fit and I found it fine. It's amazing to see the deserted houses and the island itself is stunning, offering incredible views of the surrounding landscape. We saw a rare dragonfly, grey seals, and plenty of chough, which I've never seen before.

Then it was on to the cetaceans. We saw common and bottlenose dolphins, minke whale and no less than three humpback whales which are careful not to cause stress to the animals. Thalso a first for me. The birdlife was also excellent: gannets fishing at close range, sooty shearwater, the odd guillemot and razorbill, fulmar, oystercatcher, storm petrels, and terns.

The people running this care passionately about wildlife and aree dolphins seemed to love swimming alongside the boat and frequently jumped out of the water. The knowledgeable crew could identify the whales by their individual flukes.

To cap it all off, the crew released a Manx Shearwater that had become disoriented on land. These incredible birds are tiny yet fly so far. It was wonderful to see one so close.

Can't recommend this highly enough.

Tour around Blasket islands and then out to sea to find whales and dolphins.
It’s never certain if the whales, dolphins or sea birds will show up… but what is certain is that the people who run this operation care passionately about the wildlife they take you to see. Their knowledge was extensive - they even recognise individual hump back whales (we saw whale number 127 - an old favourite!). I could not recommend this trip more strongly.

Thrilled with the tour!
Sep 2021 • Friends
We had a fantastic day with the team from Eco Marine Tours, starting from Ventry Pier we were taken around Slea Head and into the Great Blasket where we had 3 hours to explore the village and beyond, we rambled back along the Island and made our way up to the old ruined signal tower, the views were amazing, then a picnic on the white strand before we were picked up again. Around the island onboard the Blasket Princess with super views of Tuaisceart, Inis na Bro and Inishvickillane, saw the herd of red deer on Inishvickillane and out to sea then where we sighted pods of common dolphin, bottlenose, rissos and a hump back whale! Well worth booking this trip 10/10.

Best Afternoon ever
Sep 2021
This was our last day in Ventry and I brought my parents out on the afternoon tour. It was fantastic. First we had a wonderful trip around the beautiful Blasket Islands with view of the stunning Cathedral Rocks and then headed out into the open sea. Very quickly we had pots of dolphins joining us and then as the crowning a small Humpback Whale was sighted in the distance. The skipper seemed to know exactly where to look and we had a wonderful time watching it fluke all the while being surrounded by playing dolphins. It was such a joy and an unforgettable trip. I thoroughly recommend taking the tour if in Ventry. Very professional, knowledgeable and sensitive in their approach to the wildlife we encountered.

Eco???

Not sure how this boat trip is an "Eco Marine Tour"

We travelled on a standard noisy diesel boat, so don't think it's eco-friendly.

No guidelines on what not to do around animals if you come across (such as please don't run down the beach to the water, screaming and scaring all the seals away from their resting spot.)

I know staff can't control people, but feel like they have some responsibility to the wildlife since they are shuttling all these idiots and offloading them in the area.

No talks on the water, dolphins, birds or whales in the area. More so, any time there was any feeding activity in the distance we slammed that engine into full-throttle in that direction, almost as if we're trying to run the animals down.

I feel bad for writing this review because the staff really are lovely, and are probably under severe pressure from annoying dubs and american tourists who only care about the spectacle.

Just don't let the "Eco" mislead you when looking at this trip. I really feel like I was disruptive to the wildlife in this beautiful area because I took this tour and felt bad the whole way home.

A fantastic full day tour to the Blaskets and then whale spotting in the afternoon - lots of common dolphins, a Risso’s dolphin, a harbour porpoise and fin whales in the distance. Plus gannets, puffins and many other sea birds. Really friendly and knowledgeable crew. Overall highly recommended!

Fantastic experience
Jul 2021
Had a wonderful morning boat tour on 5th July 2021. The crew couldn't have been more helpful and knowledgeable.
We happened to be so lucky that day with the weather and smooth sailing. We were a group of 4, and others on the boat had booked a full day tour so were left off at Blasket Islands for a few hours.
We had a fantastic experience on the tour! We say common dolphins - loads of them! the crew said they love the foam the boat creates so they come right to the side of the boat - mammy and baby ones too!
Then we saw Minke whales! Wonderful! At one stage we saw 5 in different areas surrounding the boat. The skipper stalled the boat for a few minutes so we could see and take photos.
We were such an excitable group and the crew said even we made it a great experience for them - they love it when tourists are enjoying the tour!
They did not disappoint!
I would highly recommend a tour with this crew, the price is reasonable and the crew are friendly, knowledgeable about the local wildlife, and ensure safety is upheld.
Once the tourists on the all day tour got off at the islands, we practically had the boat to ourselves, which was great.
When I am back in Dingle, I will be booking another tour as I am waiting to see a humpback whale!!!

Highlight of my week
Jul 2021
We took the Afternoon Eco Marine Tour of the Blasket Islands which was a great treat. The Islands are beautiful and a spot I wanted to see for a while.
The crew were hugely knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and worked hard to give us a trip to remember. So many bird species, pods of dolphins, minke whales and the most amazing humpback whale! Which put on a great show right next to the boat.
I also loved their ethos of not harassing the animals, they got us into the vicinity and the animals came to us, it worked.
Highly recommended, We will return again.
