- Leech5500Lovely Tour!We did the full day Blasket Island and Marine Tour. Blasket Island was a lovely addition to our travels, amazing to see the seals on the beach and learn the history of the island. The guides did an amazing job to find marine wildlife but the fog descended … luckily there were some lovely dolphins and plenty of seabirds to keep us company. They were lovely guides for our day.
- Johnbelfast12300Tempted to go on a second trip!I went on an incredible adventure on 10 July - it was so good that I went for a second trip. I have not been disappointed on either trip. Thanks again to Mick, the owner who tries to reduce my expectations (always fails), to Vincent the driver who has a nose to find wildlife and to John, the guide who describes the animals. I will be back again for approaching my fortieth trip - the trips are so good!
- 66KevinO00Outstanding boat trip Blasket IslandsDo Go ,Memorable!! My wife and I loved the trip to see the cliffs and the Blasket Islands from the water level. Kudos to Dave, our guide , on understanding the formation and history. I sincerely appreciate the care he gave my wife who suffered a bad ankle sprain literally while walking to the cruise office.
- Companion78623400Amazing trip!We booked the tour in hopes of seeing our first basking shark sighting. We were fortunate to see 25+ basking sharks and even a few minke whales. The crew was incredible and I would book again in a heartbeat. This was a highlight of my trip to Ireland.
- Noonie1700EnlighteningVery glad I got to experience the blaskets Not what Peg had to say..... Stark landscape Scarey walks where you could roll off a cliff into the sea... But amazing
- 996aineo00Basket island and Eco tourBasket Island and Eco tour. Great full day. Crew were professional, knowledgeable and relaxed. They wanted to make passengers enjoy the day in a genuine way. Tommy Cahersiveen
- donettaj202200Excellent!Had a wonderful time on this tour. Beautiful landscape with informative tour guides. I highly recommend for anyone wanting a once in a lifetime experience!!
- Mick H00A fantastic privilege to see these animalsWe were booked on the full day trip but Mick the skipper cancelled the evening due to poor forecast. We decided to do the morning trip and we were delighted we did. We saw some beautiful animals and it was a real privilege to be allowed to see them in their natural environment. Richard, the naturalist on the tour, was incredibly knowledgeable and patient with our very basic questions. His enthusiasm was infectious. If you get a chance do one of these tours. Mick returned the excess we paid immediately to my card with no fuss.
- teasteali00Eco marine touringFantastic trip to Blasket islands and an opportunity to take in the beautiful views and coastline of the peninsula. Spotted a dolphin pod, plenty of birdlife, basking sharks and the Blasket island inhabitants from hares to the seal colony on the beach. Mick, skipper and crew are very welcoming, knowledgeable and considerate of marine life. Highly recommend.
- Carol O00Really Worth doing if you don't get sea sick 😁We did the 4 hour tour on a rainy afternoon. The crew were great and it was worth doing - got to see common and bottle nose dolphins, as well as lots of other birds and animals. Caution if you have a bit of a weak stomach (as I did!) as its a long time to be sea sick. But would recommend it as a nice afternoon activity
- Whale7700All day boat tour ventryHad an absolutely brilliant day with all day boat tour from ventry, blessed with sunshine and especially seeing dolphins, seals, minke,Fin and humpack whales, myself, partner and son had a most unforgettable day.highly recommended to my family and friends. Thanks Mike for getting us sorted with the bookings.will be back again for sure.
- Isabel K00Great three hour trip from Ventry Harbour. We had a great weather morning for the 3 hour trip to and from the Blaskets with Mike Sheeran and Britta. All Covid 19 regulations were carried out and hand sanitizer was generous. We felt safe and secure throughout. (Both in our mid seventies.) The big guys - whales etc. were having a day off but we saw puffins and a variety of other sea birds. The grey seals were plentiful near Blasket Mor and when we 'Meowed' to them they followed the boat! Mike also gave us a glimpse into Island life as he had lived there for some years The scenery was a gift from the gods. We will be back! Many thanks. Annmarie and Frances.
- K8165FNvalerieg00Stunning boat tourWe did the all day tour for our honeymoon and loved every minute. On the ocean we saw risso’s dolphins, common dolphins, grey seals, and TONS of puffins. The island itself had gorgeous cliff hikes as well as free guided tours of the ruined town and its history. Our skippers and spotters were very informative and friendly. It was an exhausting day trip but worth every minute.
- Charles M00Just BeautifulMy wife and I took the Eco Tour on the Jessica Kate to the Blasket Islands. The afternoon trip allows for a short walk on Great Blasket. The wildlife sightings were incredible. Fungi, smaller porpoises, more dolphins, seals, puffins, shearwaters, red deer. The guide was passionate and knowledgable. If you can, latch onto a tour at Great Blasket and learn some of the history.
- LukefromGermany00Fungi and Much More!We chose to join the Eco Tour spontaneously when we were in Dingle and it was a great experience! On our first day in Dingle we 'met' Fungi and while it was entertaining we would have booked the Eco Tour instead, had we known about it in advance. The tour is an entire afternoon (5 hours), in which you leave the Dingle Bay (we saw Fungi on the way out and return) to head for the Blasket Islands. You can decide if you would like to spend the majority of the time on the largest island (where the abandoned village is) or continue the boat ride around the islands where most of the wildlife is and some of the most unique views. The extended boat ride was great. Our guide was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions although it was difficult to hear him on the speaker system. We got to see hundreds of birds (mostly puffins and cormorants) and the best and most varied views of cliffs on our trip (binoculars would be extremely useful). Be weary of the weather (windy and colder on the boat) and the amount of time on the boat (3 to 4 hours). For those worried about the wind on the boat or the length of the ride the extended island stop (3 hours) would be a great option. The extended boat ride option only offers a 1 hour stop at the island which sounds like a lot but for us was much too short. The island is beautiful and has an interesting history to learn about, there are also accommodations: coffee shop & bathrooms. The beach and gray seals were a highlight for us! Be sure to dress appropriately, maybe bring a blanket for the boat ride. On a nice day you can't go wrong for the money.

Just a little note of thanks for a very special trip yday Mick. We’d a ball and thanks again for fitting us in. Richard was a dote and so knowledgeable and made our day. The three hours on the Grand Blasket was just amazing!
I was really impressed with the hygiene standards you keep also. It all felt very safe in this strange time.
I’ve recommended you to about 20 people this morning and shared your details so you should get a few more bookings from this side ⛴⛴

This day trip with eco marine tours was hands down the best experience I have had to date. I am scuba diver so booked this tour in the hope of seeing some dolphins and some vain hope of seeing some hump back whales. The tour was very well organised and covid friendly. I went on the pm tour, both came in after AM trip, was sanitised and then we got checked in along with hand sanitiser applied before loading onto the boat. I was lucky enough to get a seat up the front ( The joys of doing things on my own :-) )
I have seen some wonderful things under the ocean scuba diving but I have no words to explain how happy this tour made me. Not only did I get to see dolphins galore, a baby baskin shark but had the absolute pleasure of being surrounded by hump back whales feeding ( About 6!!!!!!!!) They were very concious of the movement of boat and not to get too close, the whales actually came to us!!!! It was informative, amazing spots of these incredible mammals! The blasket islands were beautiful also. All in all the best thing you can do in Kerry. Obviously NOTHING is gauranteed and it is the luck of the draw if you will see as much as I did however I could not recommend Eco Marine Tours more. I will be back. Dionne Taylor

Truly fantastic full-day trip. After about 3 hours on Great Blasket Island with its beautiful wildflowers and amazing views, we went Dolphin and Whale Watching with Vincent & Richard, and what a jaw-dropping experience. Vincent expertly piloting and scanning and Vincent also scanning and willing the dolphins and whales to show themselves, and they did!!! We saw so many dolphins, playing alongside the boat, diving underneath, then Minke whales (yes, more than one!!) and if that wasn't enough a humpback whale joined the party, surfacing and blowing, before diving again. Hard to believe we were in Ireland and a truly memorable experience enhanced by Richard's breadth of knowledge of marine mammals and the wonderful landscape around us. Thank you so much

My partner and I took part on the 4 hr trip (1300-1700) and it was absolutely amazing from start to finish. Britta and Mick were very professional but homely at the same time. Britta was very informative and Mick was a brilliant skipper. We got great weather for the most of the trip and were lucky enough to see Dolphins and a HUGE humpback whale (HB47) who put on a great show for us all. All in all a great wee day. The hours fly in. Thank you B&M from Northern Irish Jordan and James Xx

Michael and his team are very friendly and experienced. From beginning to end, they kept us informed of the things we were seeing and about to see. They let us know that there would be a good chance that we would see whales, dolphins etc but absolutely no guarantee. They were upfront and honest and kept us engaged throughout the whole tour. They did not give up as to give us the best possible opportunity to see the animals in action. We were so lucky that day as we saw three types of whales, dolphins and puffins. I definitely recommend bringing your own binoculars, and a great action camera! What an amazing experience! Thanks to the team aboard! Pics of the animals taken by Michael and his crew!

Thank you for your very nice review of Blasket Islands Eco Marine Tours from Ventry Harbour aboard our whale watching tour boat M.V. "Blasket Princess" and I am glad that you enjoyed your trip with us. Hopefully we will see you again next year and whatever about whales (which we can never guarantee!) the wonderful landscapes and seascapes will still be there for enjoyment of all. Mick

The marine tour was fabulous... We saw 3 Minky whales and lots of dolphins.
We set out at 10 and were back after 5.

Covid precautions taken by the crew at all stages

Not sure how this boat trip is an "Eco Marine Tour"
We travelled on a standard noisy diesel boat, so don't think it's eco-friendly.
No guidelines on what not to do around animals if you come across (such as please don't run down the beach to the water, screaming and scaring all the seals away from their resting spot.)
I know staff can't control people, but feel like they have some responsibility to the wildlife since they are shuttling all these idiots and offloading them in the area.
No talks on the water, dolphins, birds or whales in the area. More so, any time there was any feeding activity in the distance we slammed that engine into full-throttle in that direction, almost as if we're trying to run the animals down.
I feel bad for writing this review because the staff really are lovely, and are probably under severe pressure from annoying dubs and american tourists who only care about the spectacle.
Just don't let the "Eco" mislead you when looking at this trip. I really feel like I was disruptive to the wildlife in this beautiful area because I took this tour and felt bad the whole way home.

We were a group of 4 that was traveling in from Kinsale, we messaged the company before the scheduled time that we were running behind and should only be 10 minutes late. When we arrived (only 5 minutes late) there was no boat at the dock and no boat in the bay. When we called to see if they could come get us since we were only 5 minutes late, the man on the other end of the line was very rude and told us that since everyone else had arrived they decided to leave early (which he later said he never said). He said if we had contacted him (which we did) he would have waited. The man we were in contact with kept going back on his word and could not give us a straight answer. One minute he says he left early the next he says he waited an extra 10 minutes (which he clearly did not do). One minute he says he would have waited if we contacted him and the next he says its not his fault we were five minutes late even though we contacted him before the boat left. Any company that has mainly tourists as clientele should be understanding, accommodating, or at the very least polite. Can not say this boat tour has any of those things.

Thank you for your one * review Megan. We hope that it is informative for other customers. We recommend to all of our customers to arrive 15 to 20 minutes before 1pm departure time in order to park car on the pier; put on suitable warm clothing and for pre-voyage safety meeting. We never, ever, depart early. We sometimes wait for maximum of 5 minutes for late arrivals - but only if contacted in good time by telephone.
We are very sorry that you did not get a chance to travel with us, but under no circumstances can we be held responsible for your late arrival at 13:11 hrs. The boat waited 5 minutes for you and departed at 13:05 hrs. as per ship's log. We appreciate your sense of grievance for the boat not waiting longer but as explained on the phone, the other passengers had arrived early as instructed on the site, and we could not leave them waiting any longer than 5 minutes for you to arrive. We are truly sorry that you did not arrive in time and would like to offer you a complimentary voucher for any of our tours for use by you or your friends either this season or next year. Hopefully we can make it up with you then as we never like to see anyone go away disappointed from one of our tours.

This was our last day in Ventry and I brought my parents out on the afternoon tour. It was fantastic. First we had a wonderful trip around the beautiful Blasket Islands with view of the stunning Cathedral Rocks and then headed out into the open sea. Very quickly we had pots of dolphins joining us and then as the crowning a small Humpback Whale was sighted in the distance. The skipper seemed to know exactly where to look and we had a wonderful time watching it fluke all the while being surrounded by playing dolphins. It was such a joy and an unforgettable trip. I thoroughly recommend taking the tour if in Ventry. Very professional, knowledgeable and sensitive in their approach to the wildlife we encountered.

This was a day I will never forget. I was happy to enjoy the beautiful coastline and being at sea but was completely amazed by the complexity of the ecosystem existing just a few miles offshore. We observed dolphin gathering fish into a centre by their intense activity, and then a fin whale coming in to plunder the fruit of their labours. Overhead the birds circled and swooped to pluck the fish near the surface.
Fabulous information throughout and a very professional set up.

Thank you Nuala for your great review! Yes it was a special day for us also as we do not see fin whales that often and they are usually travelling at speed ( about 15 to 20 kts.!) so this was a nice opportunity to see one just feeding, and the circling birds picking up the scraps from the table! This may have been the day that we observed 6 different cetacean species which is close to our record of 7 different cetacean species in one trip.
It is important to remember that this is all based on healthy sand eel, sprat and other bait fish stocks and keeping a healthy marine ecosystem and sustainable fishing methods and hopefully more MPAs [Marine Protected Areas] which in the long run will protect both the livelihood of fishermen and marine wildlife. Yes there was a dog on our tour and it was no problem whatsoever. Maybe just mention it when you are booking just out if courtesy.
Your booking service does not allow bookings for children to be added. Is there a moo children policy. We can book for the parents only. Thank you. Rupert

If you have motion sickness do you think it would be a problem with this tour
Yes, you should take an anti sea sickness tablet before your trip and only eat a light plain meal beforehand. Also wearing wrist pressure point bands seems to work for some people.

Yes, we did see it, not too close, though, but the itinerary changes to some extent on each trip, depending on the weather.
Hi, we (my friend and I) would like to do this tour on a July weekend (probably 15th July - Sun). We want to travel from Cork by public transport. We have checked the bus Eireann time tables but could not find any bus from Cork to Ventry Pier for the weekend. Could you please let us know how to get to the starting point from Cork and if there is any public transport back to cork? Would really appreciate your help.

Sorry, unfortunately not. We were there with a private bus company
We are going to be in the area from Oct 23 - 25, want to book a trip, what happens if the trip is canceled due to weather? Refund? Reschedule?

Hi Jeff,
in our case, we got a guarantee that we would see the dolphin. Otherwise we would have gotten the money back. I assume that this is also the case in bad weather. But.... they also sail on waves.
