- Neil S00Not to be missedFrom the moment we we picked up by a smiling Yannis we knew we were in for a good evening. Once all our fellow chefs had been picked up we made our way to the foot hills of the white mountains. We arrived at the farmhouse where the cooking was going to take place the views and scenery stunning . All facilities were immaculate and spotless . We were warmly welcomed by our hosts and enjoyed a welcome drink before the coking commenced . The ingredients were so fresh and aromatic and the teachers enthusiastic, helpful and funny . The cooking was also good fun and enjoyable, so laughter filled the mountain air,. Once all was prepared we sampled 3 local wines and listened to really informative tales of Cretan history, the banquet was then served , it was absolutely delicious!! A big thanks to all the wonderful people who made the night truly memorable.ypu must go you won’t regret it.
- Storyteller31785000Memorable experienceI went solo and had a really enjoyable afternoon/evening. I would recommend it to others. The organizers and Andreas made it very special and intimate. Andreas was extremely knowledgeable and humorous. It was nice way to meet and socialize with others too
- 705sanab00UNREAL EXPERIENCE!!!!This cooking class was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever done! I love cooking and could not recommend it more it was so beautiful, the location, food and wine. ALL OF IT UNREAL! A must do!
- kostasg77100Best experience in Greece!!We had a really great experience!!!!!! Our tour guide, Andreas was an absolute star, making our experience even greater!!! Every event on the tour was really well planned. Fully recommended!!!
- chathamislands05800Excellent WW2 (Battle of Crete) tourHighly recommend this tour to anyone interested in WW2 / the Battle of Crete and the impact of war on Crete. Babis was a fantastic guide - informative, knowledgeable, hospitable, and gave a very balanced perspective. He efficiently steered us through the 6 hours of the tour and many stops without it feeling like a long or too intense day. There were many highlights: the battlefields, military cemeteries, the bunker, 42nd Street, and the private museum which is an amazing collection. Thanks Babis and GS tours!
- patrickwU1922QP00What a collection!Fantastic trip, the memorials were very moving and the information about the battles was delivered engagingly. The highlight was getting to see a local collector’s assembly of all sorts of WW2 memorabilia kept in incredible condition. His devotion to his work and craft is inspiring.
- jacquelineaK7629NT00VacationMaria was knowledgeable, easy to understand and super nice! Hotel was wonderful too! Steve picked us up from airport and was extremely nice as well. All good! Would use you guys again.
- V6679HLhannag00Lovely Cooking Class with the best GuideOur tour started with a pickup from Thanassi who turned out the be the most lovely and fabolous Guide. He not only knew a lot of interesting things about Crete, his own story was at least as exciting. The lovely place where we were taken to cook was very beautiful up in the mountains und has a lot of history. The hosts and the cook of the tour were very very friendly, the food and vine was very tasty and the tour of the site was exciting as well. All in all the trip was perfect for us thanks to Thanassi and the lovely hosts!
- 545zoe00DONT MISS OUTAmazing from the start, pick up on time and easy. Great communication. Friendly guide and staff. Felt very cultural, lovely setting. AMAZING FOOD and drinks. Would highly recommend to anyone
- C9116GIsarahd00Favorite experience in Crete! The Cretan cooking experience was one of our favorite parts of our Greece vacation and certainly our favorite part of our visit to Crete. The family and tour guide were so kind and welcoming and made the whole group feel like part of the family. The extra history and information given about Crete was far better than anything we could’ve read in a book or online. The food was delicious and our bellies weren’t the only thing full when we left; our hearts were full too
- Tara T00Must do!We had a great experience! This tour was so much more than just a cooking class, as it also had a wine tasting, feeding of goats and sheep, and an overview of the olive oil making process and Crete. The food was the best meal we had while in Crete. Would highly recommend!
- AlexNeutr00We very much reccommend the experience!!!It was a very wholesome experience: Good food, nice wine, stunning views, history and culture. Yannis was an extraordinarily professional guide and, at the same time, warm and welcoming. The same goes for the cook and the host - all seemed to enjoy what they were doing.
- Chloe B00Great cooking class and wine tastingSuch a fun and skilful experience! My boyfriend and I loved this cooking class. We got to learn so many useful skills and tips that we will definitely use in future! The food we got to make tasted incredible and we loved how passionate the tour guides and chef were about their cooking, traditions, culture and history. The wine tasting was also excellent and we got to see some beautiful scenery as the class was held up in the Cretan mountains! We also go the chance to feed some goats and sheep which was also a lot of fun. Couldn’t fault this class at all!
- aamella1900Must do!I went with a friend and worried it would be more appropriate for couples but was happy with our experience. The family who owns the property and instructed is we’re friendly and our guides were fun and knowledgeable. Thanks to them again for accommodating my friend with his injury! Our group was a perfect size at 9 individuals. The recipes were simple but very tasty. Must do!
- Stay66987500Unforgettable ExperienceWe had such an incredible time learning how to cook Cretan dishes and being in the company of other travelers during this experience. The location is amazing. It's set on a picturesque property with views of the sea and mountains. Yannis is a warm and friendly host. He shared a lot of interesting stories about Cretan history and made sure we all felt comfortable and welcome. The food turned out fantastic and it was a lot of fun cooking with a large group of people. Also it was all vegetarian! I would 100% recommend this experience to anyone visiting Crete.

Due to covid-19, we were collected in a minivan and there were only 5 of us in total including the guide, Giannis. This was really nice and made the tour personal as I understand he usually has a busload full of people. We went to two wineries, Anoskeli & Manousakis, one of which also produced olive oil. The wineries had a wide selection of wines and snacks, lots of nice bread and cheese, olives and some vegetables. The second winery provided us with a lunch too. Both wineries were in beautiful locations and each provided us with 5 wines to taste with a little backstory associated. We also went to the oldest olive tree in the world which had a little museum with it.
Giannis was absolutely fantastic as a guide (and friend), he knew everything about Crete and was so lovely. He stopped while driving on the side of the road to pick us fresh fruits like figs and educated us on the flora of Crete. Our group was great, we got along really well. He collected us from very near our apartment in Kato Daratso and dropped us off there too. Overall, the tour was everything we wanted and would definitely recommend it to everyone!

During our one week stay in Chania, we went on two tours with XX: the wine and olive oil tasting tour and the 7 villages of Apokoronas tour. Also they booked me a wonderful day of diving with blue adventures diving. Our first tour was all about olive oil and wine. We were a small group of 5 plus our guide Andreas who was a true expert. He drove us to all the locations, giving us some background knowledge on Crete along the way, both in terms of history, culture etc, but also in terms of his own experience growing up on the island. We tasted ten different wines in two locations as well as olive oil and some raki. Both times we were also served some wonderful snacks. They were also very considerate of special wishes so they changed the wines for some members of our group who didn’t like red wine. Andreas was a real wine expert, not only on Greek wines, but generally. I am still so jealous of how beautiful it looks when he swirls his glass. After we‘ve had such a lovely time, we decided to also book the 7 villages of Apokoronas tour and were super delighted, that Andreas was our guide again. I can only recommend you skip breakfast if you book this tour, because there will be a lot of delicious food along the way.
We really enjoyed both tours, especially because we aren’t big fans of driving ourselves and this way we still got to see a lot of more secluded places that otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to see. Everything was super uncomplicated (booking online as well as in their office in Chania), pick up spot very close to our hotel and great communication in between.

I can only echo the excellent reviews below of this tour. Our guide Yannis was a wealth of information on the history of the island, the flora and fauna - and of course the wine and olive oil. He is also a true gentleman and considerate host. I felt privileged to be in a small group when a big busload of tourists rocked up as we were leaving the winery ...
I would also like to mention the first-class service I received from GS Tours when arranging pick-up.

Starting with excellent timing on pickup, we were met by our amazing tour guide Andreas (5 more stars for this guy) and hopped into the airconditioned bus/van, great to cool off at 40 degrees.
Picked up the others and ended up with 12 people on the trip. Great amount.
Our first stop was a quick tour of the small olive oil factory and a wine tasting led by knowledgeable andreas. Great background and great wines. We bought a couple!
Then set off to the olive tree, which was located beautifully and despite the heat was great to quickly visit.
Driving to our third destination we got another wine tasting and had some more casual chatter amongst ourselves.
A fantastic time that is definitely worth it!

Got to visit some lovely wineries and taste 10 different wines, both red, white and rose. The olive oil tour was very interesting and the prices to purchase very reasonable. Our tour guide was great, very informative, thank you so much for a great day!

The guide usually makes or breaks a tour like this. We couldn't have wished for a better guide than Ioannis/Giannis, who really made the Cretan landscape and the Cretan people's connection to it come alive for us. He is extremely knowledgeable about the fauna and flora of the island, as well as its agriculture and especially its olive and wine industries. During our conversations it became apparent that he is fluent in English, German, and Danish.
Top tip: If you have never tasted a "prickly pear" (or indeed, if you have), ask Ioannis to pick and peel you some.

This was a good tour but prepared to bring some snacks as the bread, meat and cheese provided is not enough for the amount of wine consumed :) we really enjoyed the first winery (Anoskeli) much better then Manousakis. At Anoskeli, the olive oil tasting was fun and the wine was great. By the time we arrived at Manousakis we were all very hungry and it was mentioned that we could order lunch but the waitress didn’t bring us menus to our tour, but they offered lunch to anyone else that showed up outside our tour? Personally we didn’t care for the wine here as much either.

Very nice drive along the bay led to a visit to the Olive Oil tour then to the two wine tastings.
Our guide Andrew was a good driver as well as knowledgeable about Crete and its history and he in a Sommelier so his knowledge of wines and wine tasting was a pleasant surprise.
We had wine and olive oil tasting on our list of things to do in Crete. This tour checked that box at a reasonable price.

Andreas was a phenomenal tour guide. He knew exactly what everyone wanted and helped us have the most memorable experience. His background as a sommelier made the wine portion so interesting and he catered so well to the entire group. He also is an expert photographer and was able to assist in capturing great pictures.

Grey wine tour, enjoyed sampling the native wines. Guide was friendly and good with the organiser going above and beyond.
Only slight negative was the pushy service in the second winery and focus on the branding rather than the wine itself.
