Explore some of Charleston's enchanting alleys and hidden passages on this guided, small group, 2-hour walking tour. With our small group tours, you are guaranteed a more intimate and up-close experience. The city's alleys are distinguished by their beauty, and occupy spaces that blur the line between public and private areas. These pedestrian passageways are often overlooked in favor of grandiose homes, but walking along these cobbled paths is an opportunity to appreciate Charleston's hidden, more intimate charms.
  • Book now to guarantee your spot on this tour
  • See hidden passages and alleyways you wouldn’t be able to find on your own
  • Learn history about Charleston during the Civil and Revolutionary Wars
  • Convenient, easy-to-find meeting place for a stress-free experience
What to Expect
Your tour of Charleston’s alleys and hidden passages starts at the Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon, which was built in 1771. Meet your guide, and set out on your journey through the city.
As you go, listen to fun facts about Charleston’s past and present. See Rainbow Row, one of the longest clusters of Georgian row houses in the United States and the Heyward-Washington House. Stroll along one of the city’s oldest streets, Longitude Lane, and discover mysterious spots such as Stoll’s Alley. Pop into McCrady's, a place where George Washington once ate.
Your guide will also tell you about Charleston during the colonial period, the American Civil War, and the Revolutionary War.
After about two hours, your tour ends near the starting point.

This tour gave us so much perspective into the history of Charleston. Not being the from area it was interesting to hear some of the city’s history, good and bad. An absolute must if you want to walk away with amazing information.

WOW! This tour was amazing! Jim took us on an exploration. We learned a lot about the history of the city. To see all of the hidden alleys was awesome! I would recommend this tour for anyone who has never been to the city.
