I can thoroughly recommend for anyone visiting Charleston to take this tour. Our tour guide, Schmitty was very knowledgable with information on the general facts regarding the area and recommendations about where to go and what to see. The bus was very comfortable and clean.

      Excellent and informative tour
Our guide,Neal, was outstanding. He has a degree in history so he was able to provide incredible facts and mingle them with Huber and some personal stories about his family who grew up in the area. I would highly recommend this tour group and this particular tour.

      Great experience
Beautiful gardens. Very organized and pleasant experience. Lots of time to wander on your own. Restaurant food was nothing special outside of the fried chicken which was delicious. Hoped for and expected more history on the enslaved population. Our shuttle driver, Neil, was OUTSTANDING giving us great background of Middleton Place on our 30 minute drive to the plantation. He gave us great tips on how to see the grounds as well.

Make this your first thing in your itinerary!
Our guide was so fun and engaged with our group. I learned so much and saw all the things I wanted to hit. I wish I had done this tour right away just to get a lay of the land. Highly recommend this tour!

Too Much Talk Too Few Sights
PROS: good history and local info with a side of humor. Our guide had a fun southern dialect and used colorful verbiage. CONS: way too much time was spent with the bus parked while guide delivered a long history lesson in view of a construction site and a dumpster. For the price we paid, and the amount of time it took, we should have seen much more of what Charleston has to offer.

      Nice but could be longer
Nice but not enough time. There were tours that we couldn’t attend due to time constraints. Would suggest extending for an hour.

      Great tour!
Great tour and Tour Guide (Smitty)! Very informative about the history of Charleston, great restaurant suggestion, as well as info on what places to visit. Great way to begin your stay if you have never been to Charleston to help with what is worthwhile seeing and not waste anytime time. It was well worth the price.

      Highly recommend, great personalized tour
Great personalized tour with a guide who's (I believe!) 9th generation from the Charleston area. He's clearly both passionate and knowlegable about the history, and it felt like he was giving the tour for the first time - genuine excitment and energy the whole time.

      Too many meaningless information.
Too much talking. Nonstop and in a monotone. It actually lulled my husband to sleep. Some information is great but it should be edited down to the most interesting facts. And how about a little humor?

Our tour guide, Amy, was the best part of our trip to Charleston. On Wednesday, we arrived in Charleston and walked around the historic district. We saw a lot of beautiful houses, figured out where Fort Sumter was, and walked through Battery Park. What was missing was "how did all of this get here." We booked our Thursday tour, and were so lucky to get Amy as our guide. She had an incredible knowledge of the history of the 350 year history of the city. We never would have known the difficulties of the first settlers, the wall around the initial city, why there is a "French Quarter," why some streets are labelled "wharf" (even though they are solid ground), and so many other fascinating historical facts. And her knowledge of the history of so many of the beautiful homes (such as their "Barbados" connection, why the porches are on the south, etc.), the churches (why there are so many religious denominations, and the types of architecture), and how the streets were constructed, really explained the city to us. Her tour is not to be missed. It is just exceptional.

This was the perfect walking to where for our family! Our children are ages 10, 10, 12, and 13. Neal was our tour guide and he was incredibly well educated, having his Master’s degree in Hisrory, and also talked of personal and heartfelt stories about history, heritage, and family. We learned so much about the rich history of the city in an engaging and easily walkable way. Highly recommend this tour if your visiting Charleston or Folly Beach and want a little history insight as well!

Benjamin was awesome! My wife and I love history and this tour exceeded our expectations which were already high! Our guide is born and raised in Charleston and did an outstanding job explaining the history of this awesome city in a very thorough and immersive way. We learned a lot while our guide kept it fun and interesting. 10/10 would recommend and wish we could’ve stayed longer.

Do yourself a favor, stop reading tons a reviews, and book this tour! My husband and I did this tour, and it was seriously fantastic. Benjamin was our guide, and not only was he incredibly knowledgeable, but he was so funny and very charming. He is a birn amdcraised local, which in my opinion added so much expertise to the trip. The tour covered a large span of Charleston history-really bringing the city to life. It was the perfect day tour to kick start our trip.

This tour was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. Don't bother looking at other groups; just confidently choose Pineapple Tour Group.

Our family of four plus a baby was extremely pleased with our walking tour with owner Benjamin. It was just us (such a bonus!) and we had an amazing time.

We were hesitant to do a walking tour of Charleston as we were concerned that the information given would gloss over or tread in euphemisms when it comes to Charleston's inextricable link to the slave trade and that history. Benjamin addressed this frequently and head on, and we truly appreciated that.

He was charismatic, super funny, and had an informed answer to EVERY question. Plants? He could identify them. Architecture? He knew it. History? Boom, here's the answer.

We learned so much and had a lot of fun. He was very accommodating to a more leisurely walking pace as we were navigating a stroller over the uneven streets, gave us great lunch recommendations, and was all in all just really fantastic.

I would happily book this tour again if I visited the city with other friends and frankly, I almost hate to leave such a good review because I want to company to stay slightly under the radar so we don't have to go with one of the big groups we kept passing!

    10/10!

We had a wonderful Two hour tour, and our guide had a wealth of information. He dressed the part as he walked us through the history of pirates not only in Charleston, but along the coast. He was able to answer any question we possibly could have, but also provided a vast amount of information based on the research he has done over the past 16 or so years. Make sure you are wearing walking shoes, and clothing sufficient for the weather. This tour is well worth you time and money.

We booked a last minute Easter weekend walking tour with 3 adults, 2 teens, + a child, and even though it was short notice, the Pineapple Tour team accommodated us. Ben was fantastic! We learned so much about the history of Charleston, had lots of laughs, & he even suggested great lunch options for after our tour! If you’re in town, we highly suggest booking any of the incredible tours Pineapple has to offer!

We were lucky enough to get Benjamin, the owner for our tour. He was awesome! Incredibly informative but delivered with a great sense of humor. The tour was just the right length walking through the oldest parts of Charleston. Really got a feel through sights, sounds and scents as we walked. We learned so much about the history through some great stories (ask about George Washington’s dance card)! I would highly recommend this tour and this company!

Our girl’s trip was off to the perfect start thanks to this informative and entertaining view of Charleston. The city was brought to life thanks to our charming guide, Benjamin. We learned and laughed our way throughout this delightful morning and encourage anyone interested in an in-depth look at a consequential part of our country’s history to book it with Ben!
