      Pineapple Tours Middleton Plantation
I should say upfront that my wife and I visited Middleton in late December, so it was cold and since at least half our time was spent outdoors, the wind made it feel even colder. Also, it being winter, nothing much was in bloom and the grass was dormant. However, having said all that we still had a wonderful visit and would highly recommend a trip to Middleton. The grounds are lovely in spite of the cold. There are also numerous period shops on the grounds where a docent or a skilled craftsman was there to discuss the particulars. One building was of much interest because it had a large chart on one wall that showed the many slaves that were owned by the Middleton family through their generations up to 1865. The chart included each slave's name and the price the slave was valued at. This required a tremendous amount of research, but was very much worth the effort. As our docent put it, people who were lost to history have now been rediscovered. I should also mention that the Middleton Foundation does not attempt to 'sugar coat' the injustice, pain and suffering of slavery. The people involved describe it as it was. There is only one Middleton house remaining on the plantation and the house tour was magnificent for those who enjoy 18th and 19th C furniture, art and decorations. We saw some very fine examples of 18th C furniture and the docents inside each room were able to describe and discuss each piece. In between we had lunch at the on-site restaurant as part of our tour. It was outstanding and I recommend the fried chicken. And lastly, our driver with Pineapple was excellent. It takes around 30 minutes to reach the plantation from Meeting Street. We enjoyed spending an hour with him.

      Absolutely marvelous
Ben is an incredibly skilled and knowledgeable historian who can make the even dustiest history sound interesting and engaging. But he is not just throwing numbers and years around. He is able to provide the "behind-the-scenes" details of these major events, why they happened, who benefited from them, what the outcome was for the different stakeholders at the time and a lot more. For us, this was an incredible learning experience ... and it was 2 hours of fun. We would do it anytime again. Thank you, Benjamin.

      Just absolutely excellent ...
Ben is an incredibly skilled and knowledgable guy with the ability to make even the dusted history sound interesting. More importantly, he is able to explain the "behind-the-scene" stories about history. Why something happened and who benefited from it and why. So he is not just a history buff that nows numbers and years. He really gives you the context of history. We had a lot of fun, learned a lot and would do it all over again. Thanks, Benjamin.

Pineapple Private Mini Bus Tours are Great
The owner Benjamin personally greeted my group who drove all the way in from just outside of Savannah The tour was informative for all 8 ladies in my party (my kids & I are from Charleston) I felt there was a well rounded amount of information and truly so much to see that 90min flew by. Our driver kindly dropped us at Church & Onion which saved us walking 16block back downtown to eat. So much has changed in my 25yrs away as military spouse so many many shops we have to make a weekend trip back to just see them all...lol I highly recommend Pineapple Tours gets you out of the elements mini tour bus has high visibility and our driver was patient being bombed with 9 ladies all asking questions. Safe Memorable Holidays & New Years to Ya'll! its great to be home!

      Great trip to Middleton!
This was a wonderful tour. Ben was our tour guide and he was FABULOUS. He shared so much of the history on the place in pure story telling fashion, our group was hanging onto every last word he shared. His passion and energy for Charleston were contagious, I'd definitely recommend him and this tour again!

Best brief tour and history of a city.
What a great experience. Personal touch by the owner was unexpected. The driver/guide was excellent and knowledgeable with personal stories and connections. Only difficulty was that he talked very fast , but he had to to convey all the information he had to share. Would recommend it to everyone. Young children would probably be lost in the historical facts.

Middleton was great the landscaping was beautifully manicured. Our bus driver was so knowledgeable and pleasant. The food at the restaurant was pretty good too only complaint was that the schedule seemed a bit rushed, but everyone at pineapple was very hospitable.

.We recently decided that a bus tour was the best way to visit Charleston, It was a very wise decision. It left promptly and was 90 minutes.
Josh(our guide) was charismatic, and very knowledgeable. He would often stop the bus in front of a site to further impart history about the relevance of that spot.. We were very lucky to get such a wonderful guide and tour. I highly recommend Pineapple Tours.
The bus is comfortable and there are charging ports available under the windows.
Details: 39..00 per person for 90 minute tour (877-553-1670)
Departs from Charleston Visitor Center 375 Meeting Street Charleston
There is a parking garage. We left the car until 4:30 after lunch and shopping. Cost, $13.00
NOTE: Ask your tour guide or inquire at the Center about the FREE Dash shuttle. It leaves and returns from the visitor center and goes right into the heard of Charleston. This is a hop on/hop off ride. It was an unexpected freebie.
    Enjoy!

I would give this tour 15 stars if they’d let me. Benjamin the owner was our guide that day because one of his drivers called out. He is passionate about his line of work and gave us a very thorough tour of Charleston’s Colonial history as well as the current events going on in the city. His topical and witty sense of humor made the tour that more interesting and kept us at attention. Highly recommended.

I have visited Charleston many times but booked this tour for a vacation with my parents. I learned many new things and they had a wonderful introduction to the Holy City. I would recommend it to anyone.

We also felt safe attending the tour during the pandemic. The company limited ticket sales so we were socially distanced the whole time.

So incredibly glad I took this tour. Smitty was intentionally engaging while still safely driving the bus😂We had gone on a walking tour the day prior but the information we learned in this tour was either new or added depth to what we already knew. With personal stories of the people from many different time periods, it truly felt like we were stepping back through the past experiencing Charleston on a whole new light. The air conditioning didn’t hurt either! I loved my time and my experience and I would highly recommend this tour to everyone, both tourist and residents of Charleston!

I really liked all the top-notch restraunts; but, This Tour was the best part of my stay in Charleston. Our Guide, Benjamin, is a Charleston native who really knows and loves his city, and you'll love it too after this amazing and informative tour experience... and it is a great value. If you live in Charleston or are planning a visit, you should Take This Tour. You'll be glad you did.

Our tour guide, Neal, was the perfect guy to explore the city with. Friendly, funny, packed with more historical info than we could possibly absorb in the 1.5hr tour, he did a great job of reading the crowd and going at our pace. He even offered to walk us to our hotel, which to be fair was on his way, and offered more regarding what we should go see outside of the city (plantations, the Angel Oak, and breweries). I highly recommend the Pineapple Tour Group, especially Neal. You'll walk away with a grasp of Charleston's historical tip of the iceberg, that'll surly drive you to learn more about its breadth and depth. Thanks Neal!

Benjamin, of Pineapple Tours, provided the cleanest, most welcoming and comfortable bus tour through Charleston. His humor and well planned history presentation of Charleston was second to none. My friends and I learned a great deal about the interesting history and historical significance of this wonderful city thanks to Benjamin. I would not hesitate to take this tour again and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to take a bus tour.

Pineapple tours is an awesome tour company to work with. My daughter and I took two different tours with them 1) Ben the owner drove us around the city . He is not only a great historian but also kept us entertained through out the tour. You can ask him anything as he is a native of Charleston. 2) Ben provided us with the Middleton Plantation Tour. Our transportation was provided which is a big plus as Middleton is about a 30 minute drive out of the City. The tour included a fabulous meal at the Middleton Restaurant, along with free time to roam the beautiful landscaped grounds, also a tour of the Middleton plantation home is provided. The tour is well worth the time and money to do.
