- W4239GVwendym00Exceptional Experience! This was such an awesome experience for our family (age range 14-47)! Our guide, Geordie, was the best!! It was so cool to be guided through the streets of Charleston from a local and published author. To hear about the history and hauntings was so interesting! We cannot recommend this tour enough, you won't regret!! Enjoy your time in Charleston, SC!!
- Y6939WNdavidr00Best guide experienceThis was a great tour! Our guide, Geordie, was very informative, witty, and had a great sense of humor. As a local to Charleston, he was well informed and shared his knowledge of the history as well as sharing a few ghost tells as well. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone.
- Exploration65128300Great experience while in CharlestonVery interesting. Geordie is very entertaining and knowledgeable. Additionally you can tell he really enjoys while telling stories. We had a great time and made us study further Charleston history.
- G9187QYjamieh00Haunted History Perfect for a FamilyI really wanted to take this tour because I’ve never done a haunted city tour and Charleston is supposedly very haunted. Geordie has do much knowledge of Charleston beyond the ghost stories. Not too spooky. We had a lot of fun! Would definitely recommend! Will also be checking out Geordie’s book “Haunted Charleston”.
- michelepL115IL00Nice tour. Good to do at night.Very historical. Loved getting into different areas. You need 90 min to get this jnfo quite knowledgeable. Teens liked it.
- Jeremy T00Phenomenal Ghost TourI've been on several of these tours and this was by far the best I've been on. If you truly want to learn the history of Charleston with ghost stories intertwined visit this tour! I would definitely go back!
- K4942GNbrendab00Tour Cancelled The Day BeforeThe tour was cancelled by the company the day before. Reason given was the Spoleto Music Festival, but that is a well known event that comes to town every year. We were very disappointed.
- Cyndidefrancisco00SPOOKY !!Amazing time! Geordie has so much knowledge about the history and is so passionate. Would do his other tours too if we had the time. It was raining sideways and he still gave it his all.
- Flyer16344900Fascinating factual historical ghosts of CharlestonOur tour guide Geordie was absolutely fascinating ! He was so knowledgeable and entertaining ! It was one of the best tours we have ever gone on . We got to go places that you couldn’t see or go into without him . Highly recommend any tour that he does ! Don’t walk the streets of Charleston without him .
- 185meganp0010/10 would do it againWitty guide, with an informative and natural weave of city history that tied perfectly into the stories told.
- morenow202300Funny & SincereLike how the guide applied the present to the past with current events. Some things just haven’t changed enough.
- dwes7000Great fun! This tour was my first adventure in Charleston, and what fun! The guide was funny and knowledgeable. Great walk through the city touched with tidbits of history and spooky stories. Highly reccomend!
- elizabethwG5786JA00Interesting, Entertaining, and Very Fun!This tour was awesome! Our guide was knowledgeable and we learned a lot, but he was also super funny, friendly, and entertaining. It wasn't terrifying, but there was absolutely a spooky factor and many truly freaky stories. Glad we chose this tour over the many other options!
- rebekahw64700Great historical tourOur Guide Geordie was so knowledgeable and witty he thoroughly explained every detail, adding a real special touch. I would highly recommend this tour to history buffs and supernatural addicts.

This was such an amazing experience. Extremely informative about the historical development of the early colony, pirate history and influence, Charleston culture and society, architecture, government, and a sprinkling of the supernatural as a prelude to the ghost tours. We picked this tour because it covered many of the locations we wanted to visit already- having a guide made the experience so much more enjoyable and educational. Geordie was awesome and we highly recommend the French Quarter walking tour for anyone traveling to Charleston that has a few hours to spare! Totally worth it!

Not exactly sure how I stumbled across this little gem of a tour, but so glad I did! My husband and I were the only ones on the morning tour, and in addition to his vast knowledge of the history of this city, Geordie went out of his way to personalize the walk, even rearranging the route to accommodate our schedule for the rest of the day.
Definitely not a cookie-cutter tour! The owner loves his work and goes out of his way to make you feel welcome in Charleston. I highly recommend this one.

Thank you, Alabama friends, for joining the French Quarter Walk on a quiet Wednesday morning. It was a pleasure guiding you through the Holy City's most historic district and having the inside of the Dock Street Theater and Circular Congregational Churchyard all to ourselves!

While visiting Charleston my boyfriend and I went on the French Quarter tour. Our guide took us on a walk back in time. He was extremely knowledgeable and introduced us to beautiful historic landmarks that have weathered wars, earthquakes, hurricanes, flooding and fires. Even though we did not enter the buildings, his exceptional descriptions made us feel as if we were. He took us to see a number of places including The Old Exchange Building and the Four Corners of Law. We were so impressed with his tour we decided to go on his Supernatural Tour the following night. I highly recommend both of these tours. They were the highlight of our vacation!

Not only did the tour take you through the most beautiful parts of the city, but they shared so much knowledge and history of Charleston. They were able to answer all questions that came up during the walk, and even made sure to include everything possible to make it memorable. This is a MUST when visiting, or for locals who want to learn more about Charleston.

Lauren and Matt, thank you for joining the French Quarter Historic Charleston Walk! It was the most perfect weather and light for a historic highlight tour through the oldest cobblestone alleys and streets of old Charleston. Hope you make the trek from Indiana again soon the next time your schedule opens up for a trip to the South. Enjoy Spring!

Geordie our tour guide has an extensive knowledge of area history. He was charming and witty, making the tour fun and engaging. He easily answered our questions and he followed up with me with the answer to my question about the origin of the stain glass windows in St. Michael's church later that evening. Highly recommend!!!

Georgie was knowledgeable, funny, and knew how to draw you in to make the whole tour more immersive. I go on many of these type tours around the world and he, by far, exceeded my expectations. If you want to see Charleston the right way yiu go with Geordie Buxton, a native with heart!

My family and I recently visited Charleston and signed up for a French Quarter Walking tour with Geordie. Geordie was great and very professional. He was there on time and asked us about our knowledge of Charleston before we start the tour so that he can adjusted the tour based on our knowledge level. Since Geordie is a native, he really knows his Charleston history which he went into very detail history of the quarter. Geordie really went above and beyond. I will definitely sign up with him again and I urge others to do so. Such a great host!

Cam o'n for your post and for joining the French Quarter Walk! It was a delight to have Vietnamese and American combined perspectives in the Holy City. Yours was the first tour out of the lockdown-- a very peaceful walk with a bright, kind family-- and Charleston went right back to curfew after you left because of the current social unrest. I hope that your family returns when we get our next halcyon opening for another beautiful stroll through the Holy City!

Our guide, Geordie made learning history a treat! He knew all the answers to our questions, dates, etc. When we asked about going to a certain area that wasn't on the tour, he amended his whole plan to make sure we got to see what we wanted in addition. Flexible and very helpful, Geordie gave the most information packed tour I've been on. Just don't ask about his cow jokes. They're udderly ridiculous. 🤣 If you want to know Charleston's more obscure facts, this is your guy!

What is the walking distance for this tour. My manpanion is in a brace after repair of a quadriceps tendon tear and surgery about a month ago. He can walk in his brace but tires after long distances.

It was a pretty leisurely pace and maybe a mile, if I recall. Reach out to the guide, he may have some guidance for you. It will definitely be a little more draining for him in the summer heat....

We do on our website.
Our plane arrives at 12:10. We will be taking an Uber to the tour. Will there be enough time to make the 2:00 tour?

The airport is a 20-30 min drive from downtown. The tour departs on time, so you should have plenty of time to arrive at the check-in time ten minutes before the tour. If you arrive at 34 Prioleau Street even earlier you can explore the waterfront area or get a refreshment before the tour starts.
Is this really not wheelchair accessible? We are traveling with an adult using an electric wheelchair.
Walks in Histor... T
Charleston, SC1 contribution
Yes, electric wheelchair may be fine depending upon the season. The issue is that the tour travels across cobblestone streets and alleys, and, during open house seasons, enters into historic buildings that may not be accessible. If you give us advance notice when you or your guest using a wheelchair would like to go, we can adjust the route to make the accommodation. Hopefully, this answer clarifies your question. Thank you for your interest!
