About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Mark C0 contributionsTotal waste of money. They advertise this as a dolphin tour. Never came close to seeing a dolphin and literally drove in a small circle for an hour on a sailboat. Crew offered us a bottled water and we both had one. At the end they said we owed $8.50 for water. For $100 sailboat cruise and no dolphins they shouldn’t charge for water. Rip off.Written September 2, 2024
- S8889GBjosha0 contributionsSlow - stodgy - time burnerI seriously do not recommend this ride. Its not only way too expensive for what you'll actually get out it, its a serious time waster when you have so many other things to do. This crew had one purpose, to serve you drinks. There was absolutely no sailing experience provided. The boat spent 70% of its time running a trolling motor, then hoisted the sails for some minor experience, to only sit stationary or let the current take you around the harbor. This boat never moved faster than walking pace, they never took us even remotely close to the landmarks e.g. the fort... We stayed close enough to Charleston to identify those ashore. If you enjoy sitting out on the water for $58 per person / $232 a family, merely hear the water clap the hull and just stare off (they might had even dropped an anchor for all I know) , not experiencing the thrill of sailing, this is the ride for you. As you see, I am incredibly disappointed. I have taken schooner rides before and maybe spoiled. we captain would provide a brief history of the boat, you would watch the crew work the sails as they tack the surf, the feeling of listing on the boat maneuvers... You'll get no sailing experience from this ride. Merely find a place to sit, enjoy the sun and pray for a breeze because the boat will not move fast enough to make one for you. BORING!!!!!Written September 1, 2024
- Yuri_The_Traveler0 contributionsGreat visit of the harbor.Great crew, a lot of good information. Unfortunately we did not have too much wind so they had to use engines a few times. Fun experience!Written August 18, 2024

- Wander243687061360 contributionsFun sail with teensGreat experience. Captain Dan and crew were very informative and we had an enjoyable time. Thankfully we did get to see a few Dolphins, and my daughter was able to help hoist up the sails. Some of the people were concerned about getting sea sick, but it was a smooth ride. No issues!Written July 8, 2024
- Travel2634570 contributionsAttentive Sailboat CrewThe captain and crew did a great job. They were very attentive and answered any questions they were asked. Their input was very informative.Written June 29, 2024
- T9862BFjenniferb0 contributionsA highlight of our Charleston tripHighly recommend this cruise! Every employee on board was extremely kind and professional and we had a blast. They created a friendly atmosphere and even had us laughing during the safety briefing. You can easily socialize with the crew and other passengers or just keep to yourself and take it all in. We were some of the last to board and noticed there were still seats available at the very front of the boat. I’m surprised these weren’t the first to go because we loved sitting there—great views and great place to take photos. (That said, there’s not a bad seat on the boat.) In the summer, the 4:30 cruise is perfect. The sun is a little less intense and makes for lovely views. You can have a glass of wine on board and then walk to dinner after the cruise. If you want to wear a hat, make sure it’s attached to you somehow so it doesn’t blow away. I think our captain was named Dan. Again, he and the rest of the crew were absolutely fantastic. Would love to do this again and only wish it were a longer trip!Written June 20, 2024

- Lorene R0 contributionsA Relaxing RideWe really enjoyed our time on the cruise. Captain Dan and his team were extremely friendly and helpful. Everyone seemed to be having a nice, relaxing time.Written June 18, 2024
- James C0 contributionsPride, in word and deedAn excellent crew made the sail a delight! Attentive to any and every need, friendly and eager to help, and to be helped by the kids on board. The captain was professional, friendly, and entertaining. The boat is well maintained and beautiful. Of course, a sunny day with plenty of wind, didn’t hurt the experience any. Enjoyed this immensely.Written June 6, 2024

We may have enjoyed it more had this been our first time. The former captain and crew, although the deckhands did change from year to year, sing so much more experience. It was always great to watch them at work. The new crew seems rather novice and more like flight attendants.. By that I mean taking drink orders was their main priority is seams. The cost was quite a bit more and the experience was less damn before.

The cruise was nice, but during the cruise they start letting you choose which beverage you would like to drink. It is offered in such a way that you think it is free, however near the end of the cruise they come around and ask you for payment for the beverage you chose. I thought this was rather tricky, especially considering the price of the beverages. They should be up front with you that they are charging for the drinks they are handing out. This was kind of a spoiler for me and because of this I won't ever take this cruise again when I return to Charleston. I have been on two other Schooner ship rides in other states and those were much better than this one in Charleston Harbor.

Our sunset sail was fabulous! We were lucky and had a clear day so the sunset was phenomenal. Got some great photos! It was colder than we expected out on the water - make sure to wear layers and have a jacket/coat. A scarf and/or gloves and a blanket would actually help. Everyone was required to wear a mask and that actually helped our faces stay warm. We brought our own snacks and the staff took drink orders and brought us wine (in a can). We saw several dolphins on our sail. All in all it was one of our favorite things we did in Charleston!

What an amazing sailing tour of the Charleston harbor area!! Thank you, Captain Andrew and his wonderful crew!!! It was our last full day in Charleston and we picked the best activity to wrap up our stay in this charming city. The sailing experience was incredible and so the price for the ticket was totally worth it! I highly recommend this activity to any tourists who plan on having a boat tour. I am a teacher and so I give this experience an A+ rating!

Horrible customer service! I booked to sail in April. Obviously they are not sailing. They even admitted they are not sailing. According to their website they would give a refund if the captain cancelled. I think this qualifies as a cancellation.
I could not reach anyone by phone but managed to get someone to text me. They told me that they would only give me a gift card since I did not purchase tour insurance. There is no option to purchase your insurance.
Disrespectful, rude, and doesn’t even live up to the cancellation procedures on their own website.

We are sorry that you felt our customer service team was rude. We assure you this was not the case. We do not mention refunds on our website and guests agree to tickets being non refundable prior to agreeing to purchase. During this time, we have extended the ability to re-book to another date or receive an open ended credit for future use. There is no expiration date on the gift card, so that can be used when you are able to travel.

A friend of mine recommended this cruise to me and I’m super happy I listened. What a great way to end my Charleston trip. It was really fun watching the dolphins and the sunset and drinking until it gets dark. We were accompanied by good music and personable staff. There’s not much food selection but we had fun nevertheless. I will probably be back!

My mom and I loved the sunset sail! The sky was beautiful, and after sweating it out in the humidity all day, it felt great to be out on the water. Crew was friendly. I only wish that for the price, that one beverage or one photo would be included.

The sunset cruise was amazing and the perfect ending to our vacation. The weather was perfect and the views were beautiful. Also, the crew members were great and went out of their way to engage with every person on the cruise. They were willing to answer any questions or just chat. They were very friendly. I would recommend this sailing trip to anyone who visits Charleston.

This was me and my hubby’s favorite thing we did on our anniversary trip to Charleston. The sunset was stunning, the staff were funny and informative, and we saw several dolphins! This isn’t a narrated tour, but the guys are more than willing to answer any questions you may have. Don’t hesitate, book it!

The cruise is comfortable, easy to board, the crew is accommodating and quite helpful with the sights. Drinks are available. When the crew hoists the sales, it is a very calming and relaxing sail. We very much enjoyed it and highly recommend it.
