Mr. Neale's stories of Charleston's ghosts, while not necessarily spooky, were quite entertaining. His acting background was evident, as his delivery of the tales was loud enough for the whole group to hear, and his diction was impeccable. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening stroll; we returned to the Unitarian graveyard the next day to view the area in the daylight. As an English teacher, I was particularly interested in the "Annabel Lee" story. Bottom line: if you desire an lovely evening walk with some Charleston lore, this is the activity for you! Thanks, Mr. Neale!

This was a fun, family tour. Coleman did a great job. We could appreciate that he grew up in Charleston and shared personal stories from his time here. He really was engaging and included his love of poetry into the tour, would highly recommend this tour.

Our guide was Randy Neale, who has been leading tours in downtown Charleston for more than twenty years and whose knowledge of Charleston history is encyclopedic. We chose the latest time offered for the ghost tour, 9:30, on a Sunday evening and were fortunate to have Randy all to ourselves! While the famous ghosts and the sites said to be haunted by them are worth the tour in themselves, Randy’s telling of their stories is spellbinding. Fittingly, as we stood in the Unitarian Church cemetery and Randy told us the tale of The White Lady, storm clouds gathered and the skies let loose! Randy must have connections!

Buxton Books Tour - Overpriced for our experience but that seems to be the theme in Charleston. Our tour guide walked very fast so people couldn’t really keep up. It was incredibly hot which he didn’t seem to care about and his stories seemed to drag on which made it hard to follow and not entertaining. It would’ve been nice for the stops to have places to sit (ie: stairs, ledge, bench). People in our group were struggling and a family actually left in the middle bc one of the stories was so long and there was nowhere to sit in the heat. There was also a thunderstorm looming (which in a way added a positive spin to the theatrics) but again, guide didn’t seem to care about timing and people became more concerned about getting caught in the storm then his stories, which inevitably happened. Overall, kind of cheesy, hard to follow stories, wouldn’t recommend.

Our night-time walking tour throughout the French Quarter of Charleston was spectacular thanks to our amazing tour guide Joe. He was very passionate and knew the ins and outs of all the ghost stories as well as the city of Charleston. I don’t believe our tour would have been this fun with any other tour guide, Joe was truly amazing and I recommend this tour to anyone coming to the area interested in getting a little spooked!

A few weeks ago, my mom and I took an impromptu trip to Charleston and decided to do a ghost tour. With so many to choose from, I scoured reviews and settled on The Ghosts of Charleston Tour through Tour Charleston…and I’m SO HAPPY that we did! “Guide” is not the right word for Simon, for it doesn’t encompass the depth of what he does. Simon took us on a journey! The way he incorporates ghost stories with poetry, historical facts and personal anecdotes is mesmerozing! It is clear that Simon not only loves what he does, but works diligently to make sure each tour takes his visitors on a quest back in time. Simon also has a great respect for the people whose stories he shares and deliveries each tale with beautiful intention and attention. Simon is so much more than a tour guide-he is an artist, historian and SPECTACULAR storyteller. Get ready to leave with chills down your back! I cannot recommend him more highly! :) ~Alexa

Simon was an extraordinary tour guide. He made the tragic stories come to life and we could envision ourselves watching them play out. I would highly recommend Simon to anyone who would like some real knowledge about what really happened in Charleston.

Charleston truly is a city with replete with splendor and rich history...but experiencing this Southern gem at night is a totally transformative experience! The antique gas lanterns that line the streets add an eerie, reminiscent glow of centuries past, and the architecture of the city "changes" as you walk around at night. We had a phenomenal tour guide, Coleman Richards - he is a super cute "skater boy" blonde (he totally could be cast on Outer Banks, so Netflix better snatch him up!) with an INCREDIBLE knack for story-telling and poetry recitation. His ghost stories of Charleston were truly mesmerizing, as if he were conjuring these corporeal figures out of thin air! His recitation of Annabell Lee in the Unitarian Church Graveyard was a hallowed performance...and I actually took a picture of a ghost right after he finished! The Ghost of Charleston Night-Time Walking Tour is a MUST for any visitor to the city, and make sure you get in Coleman's group! He's a friendly dude you want to tour with. :)

Jonathan was amazing! We had the a great tour. Even though we were a bit delayed by a severe thunderstorm, he kept us entertained and even ran back to the store to get more umbrellas. We all loved the tales and history and he made it very interesting and fun. He had no problem with going over time due to the delay which was very much appreciated. And we all loved the book store! Thank you Jonathan for a great evening.

I booked this trip for myself and some friends because I've been on Ghost Tours in other cities and really enjoyed not only the prospect of experiencing supernatural events but also hearing about the history of the city. Well, unfortunately, this tour was way too over-the-top on theatrics and flowery language, almost old English style, that you lost the point of the story! Please just tell the story in a clear way so we can understand what event took place at a given site and don't feel compelled to throw yourself on the pavement, multiple times, and think you're adding interest and drama. It was uncomfortable and confusing and several people actually left the tour about halfway through. I spoke to our guide while walking between stops and it was so enjoyable, but then when we'd get to the next stop, he went into this weird character mode again. Really distracting and disappointing. There are several Ghost Tour options in Charleston, we passed a few the night we were out, and those guides were talking to their groups in a normal way. I felt robbed. Our guide also told us he'd been doing the tours since May so he was "so over it" by now. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this tour.
