Walking Back Into History with Liz is Delightful!
Liz is very knowledgeable, fun and humorous which made our tour time pass quickly! We were glad to have explored more of the Colonial area of Charleston and learned much which we didn't know even after numerous trips to the city. Buxton Books, where we met, is a charming and lovely bookstore. Afterwards my husband, myself and a friend of mine who lives locally ate lunch afterwards at Gaulart & Maliclet Fast & French which was excellent! Overall it was a great experience and we highly recommend touring with Liz!

The Only Tour of Charleston to Consider
We found Liz to be the perfect guide combining exceptional knowledge of Charleston supported by her multi- generational family inhabitation of the city joined with her genuine caring and love of all the history that the city exudes. She truly enjoys the process and the people she meets. This is a not to be missed experience for all visiting this beautiful city.

The Stories You May Not Hear on Other Tours
How many tour guides really tell Charleston's truths? How many really know their history? I can think of one= Damon Fordham. This author/scholar/professor/storyteller/ journeyman truly speaks from experience and love of his city. He surprises, engages and I won't give away a hidden talent he exercises at the beginning, middle and end of tour. Mr. Fordham invites questions, in fact, he delights in them. I left the tour longing for more stories and hoping he expands his tours to other Charleston neighborhoods whose stories need telling so they are not forgotten. Thank you, Damon Fordham!

    Damon is an amazing storyteller!
Damon Fordham led our group on the Lost Stories of Black Charleston Walking Tour. It started at Buxton Books at King Street. I was an interesting and insightful tour. Damon blended music and song, and he has written a number of history books. He also has his You Tube channel "The American Storyteller." Well worth doing!

Our Tour guide was John Sterling and he was great! He has a funny sense of humor and really mad my whole group laugh. He was also a great spooky ghost story teller. We went to four locations total, and it got really spooky in the graveyard. We all jumped at every sound and it was so much fun, 10/10 would recommend!

Simon was a great tour guide and an excellent story teller. This was a fun way to explore Charleston and learn about its history. There were guides from other companies we overheard on our tour that I do not think gave anywhere near the experience Simon did. Simon definitely takes pride in what he does and is a master of his art, highly recommend doing a tour with him.

I can’t say enough about this tour. Big Joe was entertaining, dramatic and made the stories come alive. He was very knowledgeable about the area and the way he acted out the stories kept the whole tour engaged. I would recommend this tour to anyone, you don’t have to be a fan or believer of ghost to enjoy it. Just don’t forget the bug spray!

This was our first ghost tour and we really enjoyed it. We visited haunted buildings, graveyards and alleys and heard eerie stories at each location. The last stop in a cemetery included 3 very unique tales while we searched for the woman in white.
If you are looking for a fun way to spend an evening in Charleston sign up for this ghost tour...if you dare!

We loved our tour with Mr. Neil. His artful storytelling was a pleasure to follow while navigating the streets of Charleston at night. We are planning on repeating the tour with relatives on our next trip. Well worth our time and money. We learned a lot and were thoroughly entertained as well.

I booked this trip for myself and some friends because I've been on Ghost Tours in other cities and really enjoyed not only the prospect of experiencing supernatural events but also hearing about the history of the city. Well, unfortunately, this tour was way too over-the-top on theatrics and flowery language, almost old English style, that you lost the point of the story! Please just tell the story in a clear way so we can understand what event took place at a given site and don't feel compelled to throw yourself on the pavement, multiple times, and think you're adding interest and drama. It was uncomfortable and confusing and several people actually left the tour about halfway through. I spoke to our guide while walking between stops and it was so enjoyable, but then when we'd get to the next stop, he went into this weird character mode again. Really distracting and disappointing. There are several Ghost Tour options in Charleston, we passed a few the night we were out, and those guides were talking to their groups in a normal way. I felt robbed. Our guide also told us he'd been doing the tours since May so he was "so over it" by now. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this tour.

Simon the storyteller was my favorite part of this tour! I could sit and listen to him recite poetry or tell stories for hours without any scenery. The scenery was a bonus! For those looking for something scary this tour is not.for you. The cemetery is mildly spooky(if you fear cemeteries) otherwise this is a wonderfully narrated trip through history.

We had a wonderful time on this tour. Mr Neil was an excellent guide! He was a very entertaining story teller and passionate about his craft. We loved being the only tour allowed into the Unitarian Church Cemetery after dark! It was the creepiest place we’ve ever been. Also, just may have captured an orb at Poogan’s Porch. A great night’s entertainment!

This was a fun, family tour. Coleman did a great job. We could appreciate that he grew up in Charleston and shared personal stories from his time here. He really was engaging and included his love of poetry into the tour, would highly recommend this tour.

This tour was worth the 23 dollars a person (with the flyer it was discounted). Our tour guide, Will, was very educated on these topics and he even let us stay after to ask questions. He was super friendly and funny and he made the tour all the more enjoyable. The tour was very short and he only took us to about 3-4 locations to tell us about 4 stories and the locations weren’t anything too crazy or special. If you’re looking for something interesting and easy this is the one:)
