This ghost-and-graveyard tour meets in a central Charleston location. Your guide will lead your group on foot to Charleston’s oldest cemetery for special after-hours access. At the graveyard, hear stories of local legends such as Sue Howard, who’s been known to haunt her child’s grave—your guide even has a photo to show you. You’ll hear other stories to make your skin crawl, including a tale about people being buried alive in the very spot you’re standing. You’ll even hear a few lesser-known stories about voodoo in Charleston. The nighttime darkness adds to the creepy ambiance, and it’s recommended you bring a pocket flashlight with you if you’re easily scared. Both tour times end early enough, so you can continue on to enjoy the city’s nightlife on your own.

    Fun night...Great stories
We didn't know what to expect. Friends have been on ghost tours in other towns and said they weren't that great. SARAH (with an H or not LOL) was FANTASTIC! Engaging and funny. We were in Charleston for a Mother/Daughter trip and it was a fun night for us!

    Beyond Expectations
Sarah is what made this tour amazing! We have lived in Charleston for 7 years now. We take advantage of all the tours and always learn interesting facts about our town. But Sarah had the right balance of humor and history. You can tell that she is proud to share the history of Charleston as well as ensuring that we knew the seriousness of the history as well. And because we were on a ghost tour....she also had a high respect for the dead and honored their stories in a special way. We will take every tour that Sarah is giving.

    Wonderful food and walking tour
Great history of the area while we had several stops enjoying foods of Charleston. We were full by the end and thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Diane was a fabulous guide!

    90 minutes way too fast
I took the captains tour. Jim Pollard was the tour guide. A former Navy Aviator. Just an incredible tour. He filled in a lot of the history pages that should have been written. He even should me the aircraft he flew in. I needed to audio record him. I couldn’t keep up taking notes. Thank you sir.

    Great Charleston Tour by Gordon
We took an excellent walking tour of Charleston with Gordon. After walking around for a day, we decided to put some historical background into the sights. Gordon was fun, informative and the whole tour went by very quickly. Highly recommend!!

    Interesting and informative tour!
My husband and I did a walking Christmas tour during the first week of December. We had been to Charleston several times previously but never to see it so beautifully decorated during the holidays. It was quite chilly on the afternoon of the tour but our guide, Lisa Berezny, kept it lively and very entertaining. Even though we already knew a lot about Charleston, we still learned new information and saw some areas we hadn't visited before. Highly recommend Bulldog Tours and Lisa Berezny!

Faith was our tour guide - did a fantastic job being engaging, informational, and fun, all while helping us navigate icy sidewalks. This Stroll tour is a must do, and be sure to ask for Faith!

    Informative Food Tour
Overall I had a nice time, and learned a lot. I left full and with a stronger connection to the Charleston but certain details were missing to make this a 5star review. Jade was a good guide for our small group of 4. Our venture through Charleston felt more like a food history lecture with tastings than a tour. Jade was very knowledgeable and knew lots of info about the restaurants, tastings, and the food ways that brought them to the area. With all the info there wasn't much time to chat and engage with the other guests or guide. I would've appreciated breathing room from the stories and some photos of our time together. The food was great. I loved the first stop though it didn't fit in with the rest of the restaurants. It was up-scale with refined food whereas the remaining stops offered humble Southern cooking. My expectations were set high with the first restaurant and leveled out from there. The spice shop was a crowd favorite. My partner and I would've appreciated more opportunities to buy a drink at our longer stop-overs but weren't afforded the chance. With how much knowledge Jade shared with us I'm sure the History and Ghost tours are wonderful but this food tour missed the mark for me.

    Interesting but overpriced
While overall the tour was interesting, it was limited…only allowed access to a couple of ground floor rooms, otherwise you had to look through locked gates/bars to see anything. The building itself is beautiful from the outside, but we were not allowed access to tour any other floors, cells, etc. our guide Sean was fun and well informed but it’s not a great value for the price. Over way too quickly

What’s more fun than a haunted ship—not much!
This was the most unusual and fun tour I’ve ever been on. It was a freezing cold night but comfortable inside the ship. So cool to see and feel one of these marvels of engineering. The ghost stories were fun and interesting and our tour guide was great. I get very seasick and was concerned but our guide told us the ship is moored in 6 feet of mud, it does not move (except a little during hurricanes he told us). Did not see any ghosts but had a great time freaking myself and family out, took a million funny Blair Witch style videos, was a hoot!

We did 2 tours with Bulldog while visiting Charleston on our honeymoon. Both were excellent. First, we did the USS Yorktown Captain's Tour with Bill - he was intelligent, interesting, and funny! We got to see all kinds of cool spaces and learn way more than we would have by just walking around on our own. Then, on our last night, we did the Ghost and Graveyard Tour with Jerry. He was super enthusiastic - what an amazing storyteller! We were on the edge of our seats! He kept the group's attention, told a LOT of ghost stories, and even went above and beyond with his empathy for a customer who was feeling ill (she has to veer off for water due to heat, so he checked on her, and let her know where to meet us back on the tour). Both Bill and Jerry were kind and engaging. We would highly recommend Bulldog tours to anyone visiting Charleston - they are well worth it!

I did 3 walking tours with Bulldog and can highly recommend them - a history stroll, a ghosts and graveyard tour and a dark side of Charleston tour. All were very informative and well paced. Different guides each time but each were enthusiastic about their city and its history which made for entertaining walks! Booking multiple tours will also get you a discount! The staff in the Bulldog office were also all very helpful.

We were in Charleston to visit friends and decided to take a walking Ghost Tour. (I forgot it was Spooky Season) The whole City was so busy with these tours. We ended up with Bulldog by chance. We were so happy we chose this company. The check in process and the sorting of groups was seamless and well organized (as I said - this was a very very busy time of year for this sort of tour). We had Faith as our guide. She was absolutely fantastic. She was very knowledgeable and interesting. Beyond Friendly and Welcoming!! She provided us with historical information, showed us photos of prior spooky encounters and was never fake or phony about what we may or may not see. The tour was great. If you go and have a choice of guides, I'd highly recommend Faith.

Took this tour last week and it missed the mark for us. As a family of four with two teens we have taken several ghost tours in different areas. This was our first trip to Charleston and out of the tours we did, this was our least favorite. We were really excited to be able to go into a graveyard after hours and learn some of the history there but we honestly didn’t get very many stories. Our tour guide was Darian and she was very friendly and enthusiastic, but she thought our tour ended a half hour before it did and when she realized we had more time she wasn’t sure how to fill it. We ended our tour over at Poogan’s porch with a story we heard on another tour, which was not her fault but instead of moving locations I wish she had just given us more stories in the grave yard. Other tours were going on at the same time and they seemed to be in the graveyard longer and were giving more stories than what we received, so I think the experience depends on the guide you have. Overall I think there are better tours for the money and I wouldn’t recommend this to others or take this tour again.

Hello, We are sorry that the tour did not meet expectations. We absolutely agree that any tour is made or broken by the guide. Your guide, Darian, normally gets stellar reviews. A simple search through our reviews would see that she is a phenomenal tour guide. With that, everyone is human and mistakes do happen. We are pleased to hear she caught herself and corrected the tour in regards to the timing. We are more than happy to offer a refund for the experience. Please feel free to reach out to our Tour Guide Manager, Andrew Kuhn, at andrew@bulldogtours.com to discuss further.

I wish I went missing this tour. Thankfully, the lady at reception was gracious enough to memorize my face in case this happened. Unfortunately, the tour leaves a litany of broken promises. Not a single prominent Charlestonian was discussed during the 90 minute tour. Our storyteller shared more personal stories than they did genuine tales of ghosts at Charleston. I learned more on the google search back home than I did the entirety of the tour. Among other disappointments, we felt compelled to apologize to multiple mass graves after our tour guide directed us to stand on it for a ‘spooky factor’. Our tour guide didn’t hesitate to bash cremation as a practice and our hotel room feels more haunted than the graveyards they took us to. Overall, we were more spooked by how much money we wasted on this tour. Adieu, and guard your wallet.

My group and I took the 9:30 Ghosts and Graveyard tour with Nick (I think?) and to say we were disappointed would be an understatement. After reading many wonderful reviews, we were really excited to join the tour and learn more about the history of the city. The tour started on time and Nick was nice. The group asked him at minimum 5 separate times to speak louder because no one could hear his stories or the information he was sharing. He said he was out of water. I was appalled at the lack of respect he displayed in the graveyard, often laying his items on graves and leaning on graves. The graveyard walk itself was an incredible hazard - one woman hurt her leg on a bench because the guide had us leave the path, however, it was unlit. She hit the bench and thankfully I put on my flashlight because she would have tripped over the foot stone on the other end of the bench as well. Nick often walked significantly ahead of the group and did not interact. He did advise he was newer to the city, but it was evident he didn't know the history of the city and was unable to answer any questions asked. We lost half of the group along the way, stating they were bored. I really wanted to love this tour, as I've taken others in the city and in other cities and they've been the highlight. Unfortunately, I won't be taking another tour with this company.

Hello, We are sorry to hear of your disappointment in the tour with us. We do appreciate your feedback which will be very important to help improve your guide's tour. You are right that Nic is a newer guide with us. The best way to become a better guide is with experience. We will continue to work with him to make sure that his tour is on par with the high standards we have at Bulldog. We have no problem offering a refund for the experience. Please feel free to reach out to our Tour Guide Manager, Andrew Kuhn, directly at andrew@bulldogtours.com. Thanks again and we do hope you enjoyed the rest of your visit to Charleston.

We joined the 10:15 tour. Our guide Sarah was very engaging and a great storyteller. The tour did not cover much area- basically 2 churches and a graveyard - but sarah had a lot to say about them. She got everyone into the spooky spirit and we all had fun trying to capture ghostly orbs and spirits on our phones. It was a relaxing and fun way to spend 90 minutes and I recommend this time of the night because it’s less crowded and spookier.

Ive been on 2 of there tours, and they were both a fun way to learn about history and see really nice scenic places. The jail tour specifically stood out for making me feel uneasy everyone in my group felt off in different ways which is really cool, wasnt expecting it. Sarah made the tour really enjoyable as well by just being a fun accepting tour guide instead of just a person reading a script.

Simon was absolutely fantastic- kept our kids (ages 12 and 10) totally engaged and the tour didn’t feel rushed or recited. I would highly recommend booking with him! Tour ended very close to where it started, so convenient to where we parked. Bring bug spray and a camera! Lots of mosquitoes! Also, be sure to check the weather- no refunds within 24 hrs, even if it’s raining.

We had a really bad guide for the tour. His name was Anders(or something like that). Short guy. He had no clue how to tell a story. He kept forgetting names and dates and then he would start the story over and basically just babble. He would speak to whatever he was talking about instead of to the group so we could not understand him. Bulldog should be very embarassed letting him be a guide. I know the tours are popular and it's hard to find people to conduct them, but sending out people like this will really hurt their reputation. Bulldog was recommended to us by a friend, but we will not be recommending them to anyone.

Hello, We are sorry for the disappointing experience in the tour with us. Your guide is new to the industry and is still working on his skills as a guide. Like most professions, there is absolutely no way for a tour guide to get any better until doing the tours. All of our guides through a month of training before starting their tours. Regardless, there are nerves going into giving the tours as well as trying to conduct tours in accordance to the ordinances of the city. We are more than happy to offer a refund for the experience. Please feel free to reach out to our Tour Guide Manager, Andrew Kuhn, at andrew@bulldogtours.com to discuss further. We hope to hear from you soon.
