Overview
On this 90-minute, small-group tour you'll walk the streets of Charleston, following in the footsteps of lords, generals, murderers, thieves and slaves. As you weave through the gas-lit streets of Charleston, your local guide will relay tales of the gruesome, the horrifying, and the macabre--stories passed from generation to generation in voices no louder than a whisper. Not just a ghost tour, prepare to drink from the well of the macabre and occult as found in one of the South's oldest cities.
**Note you do not enter any buildings or graveyard on this tour.
Highlights
  • Tour Charleston at night and hear spooky stories about its past
  • Guide shares obscure stories from Charleston history
  • Fun alternative to a typical history or sightseeing tour
  • Choose from two evening departures to fit your schedule
What to Expect
Meet your guide at a central location in downtown Charleston and prepare to walk the streets of this historic and haunted city. Follow your guide down cobbled alleyways and past spooky sites that played a role in Charleston’s past. As you walk, your guide tells obscure stories from Charleston’s early days as a colony, through the Civil War, and up to the present that most history tours skip. Hear about restless souls, paranormal activity, and plans gone awry that make the Holy City one of the most haunted places in the South. Please note that you do not enter any buildings or graveyards on this tour, and it is not recommend for children 6 and younger.

My husband and I took this tour on our last night in Charleston and it definitely did NOT disappoint! Our tour guide Devin was great! She was very sweet and entertaining. I'm not someone who is big on "scary stuff" but this is definitely something...More

If you have older kids, this is the perfect tour. A good mixture of ghost stories and history, but nothing too scary. If you’re really looking for a scary tour, word is the jail tour is super spooky.

The tour was easy to book and our tour guide, Bond, was great, but the tour was... boring. Only 5 stops and way too much detail at each stop to keep our attention. Nothing scary, creepy, or macabre here. Historical facts changed or omitted to...More

We went on the Macabre Ghost Tour on September 24, 2019 at 9:00 pm. Unfortunately, we found the guide's background stories to be very long and drawn out. As a result, we were only able to go to 4 or 5 places. Less commentary may...More
