This tour exceeded our expectations! Our guide used her fantastic skills and acting experience to educate and entertain us in the Gullah/Geechee culture. We highly recommend this tour. We are 5 middle aged long time friends enjoying our third trip to the area.

The guides were great at adapting! The history was fascinating the dolphins put on a show. We would recommend it to anyone visiting the area. It was a wonder experience.

The bus part of the tour was outstanding. Heather gave an in-depth history of Beaufort from the Spanish arrival through the occupation by Union troops. We actually ran over by a half hour which was fine. She was spirited and articular. We were pleasantly surprised and would recommend the tour for anyone. The boat part was also Informative about history and wildlife. We ere able to witness several dolphin pods. Totally excellent.

Very informative and interesting history and sights. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and fun. Everyone was able to see everything from the bus.

Surprised my Mom with this tour for her birthday. She was delighted, and is already planning to return for the Gullah Festival. Our guide, Dean, was clearly passionate and very well read. He was a fountain of information and even led the group in a singing of Happy Birthday for Mom, she was quite touched. Would certainly recommend.

The tour was very informative about the rich history of the area and the gullah people, our guide was well versed & knowledgeable, we enjoyed ourselves very much and took lots of pictures

We learned so much on both of these tours! Please take a day (or two) to take both of the tours. First of all - make note that if you book these tours and decide to do them on the same day, the boat tour would be first at 11AM Eastern time and the bus tour will be at 2 PM, which means that you have time to walk some place to get lunch and come back for the second tour. Now, with that said, the boat tour not only gives you information on the ecosystem of the area (yes, you'll probably see some birds and dolphins), but also delves into some historical information of the area, from the Native Americans who inhabited the area to the Europeans who tried and ultimately succeeded in colonizing the area and to the enslaved people who were brought to the area by the colonizers and what happened here during the Civil War. The bus tour, with Dean as tour guide, provided more in depth information. He is a wonderful storyteller should probably be an actor. Without giving anything away, he discussed life in Beaufort during the antebellum period, during the Civil War, Reconstruction and the Civil Rights movement 100 years later. Beaufort and the Sea Islands have done a really good job of preserving their historical homes and buildings so you can actually see the places being discussed and makes their place in history more tangible. Beaufort's history is American history.

Loved the atmosphere. Love the homes. Main Street have very unique stores. People very friendly and parking was great as well.

The boat ride was really great. Some history in with fun. The captain was really good at maneuvering near the dolphins and even though the weather was gloomy the atmosphere on the boat was not. We highly recommend Gray Lines tours!

Dean was extremely knowledgeable and provided interesting information about the rapid changes which took place in the area after the civil war!

Do not book! The reservation was for a tours at 3pm but the boat only goes out at 11am. We were notified that we wouldn’t be able to take the boat tour on the same day as our bus tour. We were unable to move the tour to the same day and not refunded - falsely advertised.

Our tour guide was amazing. HIs knowledge about how reconstruction started in Beaufort and the impact it had on this country was impressive. He obviously spent a considerable amount of time researching the subject. He willingly answered all our questions. He encouraged us to spend some time getting more details about the things that he introduced. We highly recommend this tour.

The boat tour was kinda null and void. The staff seemed a bit unknowledgeable about the area. They mostly chatted about birds and oysters. We didn’t go as far as they said we initially would on the boat tour. Being a history buff, of the few actual historical facts about Beaufort that were shared, I found half of them to be inaccurate. On the way back, it’s basically speeding in a small boat. Make sure to wear a rain jacket, because if you’re riding in the back on the left side, you’ll get wet. The bus tour was better. Our tour guide, Heather, was very energetic and knowledgeable. She had some witty quips interjected into her blurbs about different historical facts about Beaufort. The tour went over about 30 minutes, but no one seemed to mind. I do recommend the bus tour with Kelly tours.
