      Unexpectedly Rich History
Mike is a font of information! We enjoyed learning about Lancaster including how to properly pronounce it! The beer was tasty. Would recommend the tour!

      Pennsylvania family trip
Our tour guide Sandy, was knowledgeable about the beliefs, education, and the resources of the Amish. Amish country is absolutely beautiful. Our family would highly recommend this tour for others to experience.

      Excellent!
Our Guide for this Tour was "Sandy" and she was absolutely amazing. She was filled with so much interesting information and so many helpful hints. We learned a lot from her. Sandy was incredibly accommodating as we had my Mom with us who had a walker. I'm guessing this isn't something that happens often. Sandy was very helpful with getting it on and off the van. Sandy was very open to questions and did her best to provide the answers. Our lunch was at the home of Emma Stoltzfus and her three children sat down and had lunch with us. The food was endless and delicious. We actually asked for a couple of recipes, yes, it was that good. Her home was very warm and welcoming and she was open to answering questions. Her three children were amazing tour guides *smiling* After lunch they took us outside to introduce us to their horses and dogs and to see their property. I hate to bring this up but our only complaint and it would be minimal, was that the van was jam packed. We had read this in other reviews but thought those might have been one-of experiences. If you're taking this tour, I'm guessing you should expect to have the van jam-packed.

      Interesting glimpse of the Amish
Drove from Philly to Lancaster to view this interesting auction of produce, vegetables, flowers, plants and other items made by the Amish community. Since the grounds are usually muddy where the auctions are held in tents hence the title Mud Auctions. Fortunately that day was bright & sunny and the mud was mercifully dried up. The staccato announcements of the auctioneer was truly worth watching and listening to as items got swiftly auctioned. I was informed that the proceeds go towards the maintenance and upkeep of the fire brigade which is run by the Amish Community. An interesting glimpse into rural life of the equally fascinating Amish Community.

Great views and great hearing devices
Mike is so smart on Amish and Mennonite. Liked that it a small group in van. Views from every seat. And thank you for hearing device. My gosh. I need no help but my husband does. It helped us both to drown out background noise. Until others decided tour over when we still trying to listen and learn. Mike, say all pay for this tour. Quiet please

      Great Authentic Lancaster Experience
Mike met us at 9 am and proceeded to show us around Lancaster on foot. He was thorough, knowledgable and very nice to spend time with. We enjoyed learning the history of Lancaster and the surrounding area. The ride to the Amish Country area was pleasant with two wonderful stops: one was possibly the best ice cream we ever had; the second was a home/workshop of an Amish family. Sadly, the Central Market was not open on our tour day (only open Tuesday, Friday and Saturday). Mike gave us an alternative recommendation for lunch (C'est La Vie) which was great. We highly recommend this specific tour with Mike.

      Great fun and learning experience
A wonderful tour! Lots of informative conversations and fun. The tour leader was great and very nice/helpful. We visited several Amish farms and had some delicious ice cream. Lots of history and beautiful countryside to see and enjoy. Our 14 year old granddaughter went with us and enjoyed it immensely! Thanks again!

      Awesome Amish tour with Dale
Had a very informative tour. We could not have asked for more. Dale was extremely knowledgeable, very personable, and answered all of our sometimes silly questions. Would definitely take another one of you tours especially if it was with Dale. Thanks so much for the great experience.

      Amazing Immersion Experience
What a great tour! I thought I knew a lot about the Amish, but I discovered on this tour how many false notions I held. Our guide, a local who was born in Lancaster, was very knowledgeable. Rather than going to tourist attractions, we visited actual homes where Amish live and work. The Amish people we encountered were very friendly and answered our questions. I have a much better understanding now of how the Amish live and why they choose to live as they do. You simply don't know what you don't know!

      Well done!!!!
The tour guide provided lots of information in a short time. Great presentation! The dinner was fantastic, both authentic and extremely tasty. The one negative: more stops to take photos out the van windows, and I realize this is easier said than done.

Disappointing Back-to-Back Tours with Lokal Experiences and Tour Guide Sandy
I had a deeply unsettling experience with Lokal Experiences during two scheduled back-to-back tours, starting with the "Authentic Tour & Meal with the Amish" followed by the "Unique Amish Immersion in Lancaster," both led by a guide named Sandy. Despite the tours’ promising descriptions, our experience was marred by unprofessionalism and insensitivity, particularly towards families with children. During the first tour, while crossing a bridge, Sandy made an inappropriate comment about sneaking in a kiss if you're with a partner, which was not suitable given the presence of young children, including my own 10-year-old who became visibly upset. Furthermore, Sandy exhibited a cold demeanor throughout. She bluntly told me to keep my children occupied with electronic devices because "other clients are paying customers" — as though my family and I were not. This dismissive attitude not only made me feel judged as a parent but also left me in tears. It seemed as if our presence was an inconvenience, rather than a part of a group equally entitled to enjoy the tour. After such a disappointing experience on the first tour, we chose not to proceed with the second tour scheduled for the same day. Despite not attending the "Unique Amish Immersion in Lancaster," the company refused to refund this part of our booking, further compounding our disappointment and frustration. This experience does not reflect the respectful and engaging cultural representation one would expect from a service claiming to offer authentic insights into Amish culture. I strongly advise against booking with this company, especially for those traveling with children. Their approach appears profit-driven at the expense of genuine hospitality and respect for all customers.

Van full!!! Everyone enjoyed and were educated.
Very in-depth tour. Immersion means immersion! Four farms, including an ice cream stop. Lots of detailed information, but I suggest that one book be read prior to tour. Local library can serve this purpose. Have your questions ready.

      Truly authentic !
We started our walking tour punctually at 9:00 AM. Our guide, Mike was extremely thorough, thoughtful and knowledgeable. We never rushed through the trip and took time to explain all the details. We absolutely loved the experience and recommend Lokal tours for those interested in exploring the beautiful Amish countryside and learning more about the culture and history of Lancaster !

      Great tour !
Very nice tour (private since we were only two) ! Teh guide was nice, giving full of explanations about the Amish County and the Amish themselves. It's the only tour making you able to go on site of the movie 'The Witness'. Just amazing, don't hesitate !

Our guide, Mike, was very knowledgeable and personable. Tons of history given about the city, architecture. We enjoyed the tour but wish there was a touch more savory perhaps something in the market or a slice of pizza. The 4 attendees went to lunch at the end of the tour. The cupcake stop and the french bakery was our favorite but we did return to purchase 6 bottles of balsamic vinegars.

Mike was a phenomenal tour guide, he showed my boyfriend and I a new and exciting side of Lancaster.
He was well informed and very friendly. He was comfortable and very relaxed, even patient.
I booked this tour as a surprise for my boyfriend expecting it to be good, but was surprised with just how amazing the tour and Mike actually were.

Mike was very informative and very nice! It was nice to know all the types of different foods and such that are in the city! It was me, my fiance and my future sister in law with us, and each place we went to there was one thing or another that we all enjoyed! I definitely recommend this tour to others, especially first timers in Lancaster!

A great two hour slice of history and food experiences in downtown Lancaster. Mike is very knowledgeable and well versed in the local history and took us to some hidden foodie gems. We sampled fresh pickles, French desserts, custom blended teas, oils and vinegars and a local treat, the stroopwafel. And we took home some goodies!

Great time with a great host. Book this excursion and get in on the fun!

Annamarie was fantastic, energetic and helpful. Her passion for Lancaster, local shops and their products is contagious. I also enjoyed the history tidbits. She even offered me suggestions for the entire weekend. I would highly recommend booking with Lokal. I will be trying another experience with them. I was so involved with the experience I forgot to take pictures. Annamarie was so welcoming it felt like we had been friends for years.

10/10 would recommend this tour! Mike was so nice and fun and full of history facts of Lancaster City! I grew up in the area but didn't know half of the things he knew/hadn't visited a few of our stops! The stops were a perfect combination of just that "sweet and savory" with samples to take home with you and share with your family and friends (along with all of the knowledge you learned) as well. :)
