Rude, obnoxious man running this place, calling people totally inappropriate names such as “chubby”, “big sue”, “lanky” and even some racist names to foreigners. Brings you 30 minutes from Byron bay to what I can only describe as a lake, zero waves but when challenged he says it’s “perfect for beginners”, of course it’s perfect because he comes along and pushes people on the board so they stand up. Not realistic surfing at all and completely conning people out of their money. 4 people in our group actually left after 30 minutes of his crap and asked for a refund and he did nothing but talk badly about them for the remainder of the lesson to everyone else in the group. So so so unprofessional. Just avoid this man and he’s joke of a surf school.

The whole experience was so much fun!! Terry is such a good instructor, we all managed to get up on the board and even rode our own waves! Really recommend :)

We just finished a lesson with Terry which was absolutely amazing we were a group of 3 who had tried surfing one or twice but couldn't really get up. Unfortunately we booked a day where the swell was quite bad but Terry was very knowledgeable and got everyone standing 5-6+ times despite the bad weather

Great course, we were a small group so we could learn faster and the Terry was great and explained what we did wrong to help us improve. Recommend it 100%!

It was my first time surfing and thanks to Terry and Jeremy everybody was able to get up quickly. I’ve had a really good and fun time and they are both very experienced surfers, teachers and funny fellas!

We had a fantastic day. It was our first time surfing and me and my two kids (age 9 and 8) were all able to stand up confidently by the end of the session. Our instructor was a great guy and made it fun. I highly recommend it!

Absolutely fantastic surf lesson! I have previously had a lesson at a much bigger surf company and found the experience at kool Katz far more personalised with great feedback on how to improve after each wave. Tez is a fantastic instructor and lots of fun! We will definitely be trying surfing again after all the confidence he gave us.

I had an amazing time surfing with Terry! He knows the area very well and makes sure you get the best experience. Also, he is super friendly and gave me great tips to improve my technique. Would 100% book again!

My boyfriend and I had our very first surf lesson today and thanks to Terry we were able to stand on the surfboard a few times. Thank you very much for the experience!

The surf class was a very original Aussie experience :) Terry the owner was super nice and invested in us having fun while surfing. We all stood up on our first lesson and everyone had a great time. After the lesson he drove us home to our hostels. The equipment is a little bit old, but works perfectly for beginners so we didn’t mind. Be aware, that the times can change due to the tide and conditions! Terry will try everything, to ensure you are having a good time tho :)

I had a great day! It was more like an australian experience than just a surf lesson for me. I would really recommend it to anybody that is looking to learn to surf in a really safe but laid back atmosphere!

This was the most unorganized and useless surfing lesson I have ever been to. The instructor showed up half naked, asked us to drive his broken van and took us to the only beach in the area with absolutely no waves. He was also extremely rude to anyone who would complain. The "surfing" was non existent.

Both instructors were patient and full of fun, can’t fault the day, had a blast. Highly recommend trying them out!

Had a fantastic surfing lesson with Terry! He has great knowledge and has been teaching surfing for over 30 years! Instructions were very clear and easy to follow, I was able to stand up almost every time! 🏄‍♀️ Terry took his time choosing the best beach for us to surf on, the waves were perfect for beginners and we pretty much had the whole beach to ourselves. Would definitely recommend!
