- 1Our Wildlife Safari takes you to three different habitats near Byron Bay. You’ll visit eucalyptus forest, rainforest and grassland to discover the animals that live there. We guarantee you’ll see a koala or two, a mob of kangaroo, a whole colony of flying fox and many species of bird. If conditions are right you may also see pademelon, echidna, tawny frogmouth and water dragons. You will travel in our comfy eight-seater 4WD with an environmental scientist as your guide. For lunch? A picnic of locally-sourced goodness. We are an award winning eco-tour company and we are passionate about what we do. As with all our eco-tours, it is our goal to observe but not disturb the wildlife. If you want to feed or pat the wildlife, this is not the tour for you.

- 617deboraha0 contributionsAbsolute MUST do !An absolute MUST ! If you are in the area, do not miss out on this awesome experience !! I was blown by the scenery, gardens and crystals. The meditation class was so grounding and amazing. And Wendy such a pleasure to have been guided by her, sharing her incredible knowledge and the safest driving skills I've ever seen. Thanks for looking after us !! I will definitely try more experiences as there is sooo much to explore !!Written March 20, 2025
- lucyt630 contributionsCrystals, healing and positive energyBeautiful healing and inspirational gardens, overlooking hinterland of Byron. Loved the story of how this vision started and has grown over 40 years, into this magical, spiritual and soulful retreat. I found the experience to renew positive energy and connection. I particularly enjoyed the sound bowl therapy meditation. Also had the aura photograph which was incredible. Don’t miss out on this visit! 🪷🫶🏻💓🌸✨🌙⭐️Written February 24, 2025
- travelman000 contributionsAn interesting and different place to visit.I saw the brochure of this place at my hotel. The manager called and arranged for me to take it. You get transportation with return, plus the driver gets out with you on arrival and gives you a briefing about the Crystal Castle. You then have about 3 and one half hours to look around on your own, and have lunch at their restaurant. Really an interesting place. Wear good walking shoes, as some trails are gravel.Written February 4, 2025
- christinehC3938XM0 contributionsGreat half day tour.It was a terrific half day trip to Crystal Castle. Picked up from my Byron Bay hotel. Plenty of time to explore the beautiful gardens and amazing crystals.Written October 20, 2024
- elhall110 contributionsSo many koalas! We did the koala tour with Wendy and it was absolutely amazing. We saw 13 koalas and it surpassed all my expectations. We saw them up close and got some great photos, Wendy was willing to share some of her photos with us too. This was absolutely one of the highlights of our trip to Australia. I would definitely recommend you to book a trip with this company, you will not regret it. Thank you for such a great experience :)Written October 14, 2024

We'd chosen the Koala Bear tour & thanks to Wendy's knowledge & expertise, saw 8 koalas including 2 joeys in their natural wild habitat. - debbie f0 contributionsWonderful to see platypus in the wild!Wendy was very helpful, keeping me up to date on the likelihood of the tour going ahead, due to numbers of bookings and the weather, and offering alternatives. Luckily it went ahead and we saw a platypus even though it was raining and the water more murky than usual. The picnic was good, with local ingredients too. Wendy is a hive of information it was a fascinating tour.Written July 6, 2024
- Climber201200670150 contributionsPlatypuses in the wild!Great time seeing platypuses in the wild..a dream come true for my daughter! - Zibode0 contributionsAlways a wonderful experienceI use this shuttle service to get to the Crystal Castle every year. Being picked up at your hotel is wonderful. Wendy is very accommodating and a wonderful host. The trip is always comfortable and Wendy can let you know of other things in the Byron area if you need to know something in particular. The Crystal Castle itself has changed a lot with different offerings over the last 5 years but always a restful experience. Can't recommend Vision Walks Eco Tours Enough to anyone wanting to do one of their many activities including the Crystal Castle run, Wendy will make you feel very welcome. 10/10Written May 30, 2024
- Krystalg13500 contributionsRelaxing peaceful dayWe had such a good day! From the get go Wendy who picked us up was great, she was very informative and very friendly and we had a great laugh on the way to and from the crystal castle. The whole day was really fun and relaxing, we managed to do all of the walks and activities in the time we got as well as do a little bit of shopping at the end. I even managed to get the boyfriend to try the meditation classes although he has never been keen or tried one before and he enjoyed them too. Would recommend this trip! We got picked up right outside our hostel and dropped off where we wanted on the way back too. Another thank you to Wendy for the trip. We really enjoyed it!Written May 4, 2024
- Leah D0 contributionsWould highly recommend for a relaxing trip! This tour was lovely and peaceful, just what I needed after the chaos of travelling! Our guide Wendy was absolutely lovely, friendly, and chatty. She communicated with us prior to meeting, ensuring we were meeting at the correct pick-up point. We were given a quick run-down what was going on at the crystal castle, and left us to explore on our own time. We were left with more than enough time to enjoy the gardens, attend some guided meditations, explore different crystals, have a bite to eat and do some crystal shopping! Would highly recommend for a relaxing trip.Written March 20, 2024

- Gabrielle J0 contributionsThe best day! What an amazing day with Tom on the wildlife safari. We saw pademelons, koalas, kangaroos, wallabies and flying foxes. We also had a yummy picnic lunch by the Richmond River. Tom was super accommodating to our family as two of our children had mobility issues and we all got to see the beautiful wildlife regardless of ability. Tom was super knowledgeable, friendly and patient with our large family. It was truly a day to remember. Highly recommended!Written December 22, 2023

Tom was an amazing guide for our safari. There were 5 of us in the group, and he made sure everyone was having a great time and were feeling good throughout the day long excursion. I would highly recommend this to anyone traveling to Byron Bay. We saw Koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, and flying foxes. It was incredible to see these animals in the wild, and it’s a much different experience than seeing them at a zoo. It was great! Tom was very passionate about wildlife and nature, which added to the charm of the experience.

This was so far the best out of several tours I took from Cairns down to Byron Bay. It was well organized, well communicated, not over promised, like most other tours, and very human. Wendy clearly loves what she’s doing, she loves the animals and nature, and her enthusiasm is contagious. This is not a petting zoo tour, so don’t expect to hug koalas. You will see quite a few of them napping high in trees. Powerful binoculars are provided. The picnic lunch was delicious.

I cannot recommend this tour enough, we saw so many animals, koalas, kangaroos, wallabees - you name it! Tom was incredibly informative, knew so much not just about the animals but nature, Australia, the environment, I could’ve spoke to him all day.
Animals are at the centre of the tour, Toms approach was respectful, kind and in my opinion the best way to observe animals.
If you’re looking for a special way to learn more about Aus, animals and meet like minded people this is the tour for you. You wont regret it.

Highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to see some amazing native Australian wildlife in their natural habitats, absolutely no cages involved!! Wendy, our tour guide, was so knowledgeable and gave us lots of information! She also took some really high quality photos of the animals we saw on the day - check out their Instagram to see some examples! The lunchtime picnic was really tasty too and a lovely addition. A great day out overall!

This is my second tour by VisionTours, and I just have to give another 5 stars 🌟.
Our guide, Wendy, took us to all the local stops where we were able to see all sorts of Australia's wildlife.
We started off by seeing a colony of flying foxes and also stumbled upon a carpet python!
Our next stop was a boardwalk in a rainforest to see pademelons. Although we couldn't see them by eye, Wendy let us use her thermal monocular and we managed to spot them, along with a few birds by eye.
We proceeded to go see koalas in the wild, and were lucky enough to see them while they were awake and hungry.
The picnic lunch was provided by our guide, and there was a lovely selection of all sorts of foods.
We finished off the tour with some kangaroo and wallaby spotting and managed to see quite a few.
Overall, I was incredibly chuffed with this tour and will definitely book again with the same guide.

Wendy's passion and respect for Australia's wildlife is simply contagious. It was a joy to see pademelon, koalas, kangaroos, wallabies and flying foxes in the wild and learn in detail what steps are being taken to preserve their special habitat. We requested a vegan lunch and were blown away by the gorgeous vegan picnic spread. The tour was very well paced without too much time spent in the car. I certainly plan to do more tours with Vision Walks the next time we're in town!

The tour was amazing and our guide very polite and funny, with a wide knowledge in theme of wildlife and environmental issues.
We spotted koalas on eucaliptus, some kangaroos and wallabi, bats and birds. We had a very nice pic nic (also for vegan vegetarian and gluten free).

Tom was an amazing tour guide and took me and the other participants to all the places described in the tour. We were so lucky and got to see kangaroos, wallabys, pademelons, 9! Koala bears, loads of birds and to end the tour, we stopped and watched flying foxes. He told us everything about the animals and wildlife in the byron bay hinterlands and prepared a great picknick lunch for us as well. Would absolutely do it again. Thanks for the great experience!

Wendy was a fun and knowledgeable guide. She picked me up at my airbnb which was lovely. We saw all of the animals, up close, in their natural habitats. Wendy knows where to find the animals and has established relationships with conservationists for access to areas normal tour operators would be unable to go. I appreciate that she runs her personal business in a carbon neutral to negative status. She walks her talk! It was just amazing to get out into nature, to enjoy the trees, the birds and the wildlife. The lunch was a simple but delicious picnic, my kind of picnic actually!

Hi Mel B
We were very fortunate as there were only two of us on the tour, which allowed us more time with the guide.
Regarding the best time of year to see the wildlife, you would do better to contact them directly.
We went in September and saw lots of varied wildlife.
