- Santiobando0 contributionsGreat way to start my Portland visit.Nancy was great and very knowledgeable. I would recommend to anyone who has a morning to spend learning a bit on Portland.Written October 6, 2024
- rital7260 contributionsEast and fun rideThis tour was wonderful. Our guide, Kelly, emphasized safety and fun, which was perfect. Four girlfriends had not been on bikes in years, but that did not matter. The bikes were comfortable 3 speed cruisers, perfect for the relatively flat ride that we took. Kelly gave us lots of Portland history, as well as many opportunities to take a rest (which we did not need). We would definitely recommend this activity.Written September 28, 2024
- reneerG4536HE0 contributionsGreat way to learn about PortlandKelly our guide was terrific. She shared her love of Portland with knowledge, warmth and whimsy! Our group was international and we had a great time. Great photo ops! This is an easy walk tour with places to sit along the way.Written September 26, 2024
- LexKelly0 contributionsWould definitely recommendWe had a lovely time learning about Portland's rich history and getting to know the city on foot on this tour - our guide Kelly was super friendly and knowledgeable, I'd recommend this to anyone visiting Portland as a great thing to do at the start of your trip to help get your bearings of the place and pick up some recommendations for the rest of your stay. Thank you, Kelly!Written September 21, 2024

- minghol20240 contributionsAwesome guidesThe guides for Around Portland are great, and really easy and fun to cycle and talk with. Kelly was my guide for Bike Around Portland. She was awesome and super knowledgable about all things Portland. A guided bike tour is definitely the way the way to do it. Angela guided the Columbia River Gorge Waterfalls tour, cool and also super knowledgeable about the Gorge, it's history, geology, everything. And of course Portland too. Cycling near the river on the scenic road, bombing through the trees and seeing the waterfalls and historic structures... go experience it!Written September 18, 2024
- Janice W0 contributionsTwo hours well worth spending. A great tour.Shannon was a terrific guide. She was very knowledgeable, entertaining, and fun. The tour was very informative and a great intro to Portland, history, art, architecture, culture and the people. - emma2walter0 contributionsFavorite Part of my trip to Portland! Highly recommend for people chasing waterfalls.A Wonderful Half Day trip! Around Portland was super to get to from my hotel. Sara (our tour leader) was super nice and knowledgeable about the local geology and history of the area. I was worried about this tour being difficult due to the hiking and biking aspects but it was surprisingly easy! This tour is definitely doable for almost everyone. You do not need to be an avid cyclist or hiker. You do not need to be in amazing shape. We took many stops and weren't really hiking or biking for more than 15-20mins at a time. I went by myself and highly recommend any solo travelers to do the same. Group tours are a great recommendations on what to do in the area and to chat with other travelers.Written September 5, 2024
- tvchick230 contributionsThe most unforgettable way to experience the Columbia River HighwayMy last visit to Portland I took a bus tour to the Columbia River Gorge and saw a group of cyclists with a van advertising bike tours. I knew this was what I wanted to do next time, and after I mentioned it to my best friend, the plan was set! From the start, it was a great time. We got to pick bikes at the shop and ride them in the lot to adjust as needed. On the van ride our guide Sara gave us so much insightful information about Portland and the surrounding areas. Lots of local tips we made use of later, including having a corn dog at Rockaway Beach. The Columbia River Highway is historic for its scenery, and experiencing it on a bike is a whole different level of enjoying nature. In terms of difficulty, there were some gentle hills that a low-level weekend cyclist like me huffed and puffed through but did fine with. The views were always worth it. This day was the best part of our short trip and I'm so glad this tour exists!Written September 2, 2024
- oenophile790 contributionsIf you only do one thing in Portland…Sarah and Sarah were phenomenal guides. We felt so very welcomed and at home with them. They are incredibly knowledgeable in various areas (food, nature, etc). If we return to Portland we may just book all our adventures through them, it was stellar through and through!Written September 2, 2024
- jamesgX978YM0 contributionsBit of a Hike but Amazing ViewsCertainly a bit of a hike but well worth it for the views. Our tour guide was born and raised in Portland and certainly knew all about the Forest and the surrounding areas. At the end of our tour we went up to the Japanese Gardens which was also worth the visit.Written August 31, 2024
- jamesgX978YM0 contributionsPerfect Weather, Perfect TourGreat experience, Edwin our tour guide was great! Had a wonderful day exploring the Oregon Coast and some great hiking for some amazing views. Stopping in Cannon Beach for lunch was a good choice and even picked up some ice cream. Weather was perfect!Written August 31, 2024
- solson12060 contributionsFabulous!!!So glad we did this tour! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and we covered a lot of territory in Portland. Fairly slow pace but still saw so many 'off the beaten path' Portland highlights. Bikes were in great condition. I would give it more than 5 stars if that option were available.Written August 30, 2024

I had one day in PDX and wanted to see as much as I could. I signed up for the morning City tour (including the Pittock Mansion vista) with Carrie, and the afternoon Columbia River and Multnoma Falls tour with Edwin (and Bear). Both tours were fantastic - warm, knowledgeable and experienced tour guides and a well designed itinerary. It made my short stay in PDX thoroughly enjoyable and I would gladly recommend Around Portland to fellow tourists. Thanks Carrie, Ed and Bear!

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and tour guide. He shared lots of history about the area, pointed out different trees, plants, birds. The waterfalls were beautiful and cool on a warm summer day. Highly recommend if you like to see the sights without long hikes, these were very short and do-able.

This was an exceptional tour! The starting point is in the inner atrium of a storage place, but, very easy to find and check in. The van is very comfortable, and, our tour guide Edwin was absolutely exceptional. From the moment we left our location he gave us great recommendations on restaurants, pointed out locations with historical significance (with fantastic Simpson's references no less), started us off at a wonderful local farm / fruit stand, and, then provided a very easy and accessible multi stop tour of the gorge. Edwin would go into great detail about the relevance of each stop which was a perfect pairing to the natural beauty of the landscape. This is called a "hiking" excursion but it is very light and accessible for most. Overall this was an incredible experience which made our families time in Portland extremely memorable.

My tour was amazing with Carrie. I thought she was informative and she took us on an actual hike at the Horsetail falls. I was a little worried at first that we would not do any hiking because I didn't realize at our first stop (Multnomah Falls), they don't allow guides in and it was very paved there. However, that was the only place that didn't allow guides and she took us around and let us explore at each of the stops. She knew a lot about plants and berries locally as well as had amazing food recommendations.
We did this on a weekday and our guide did let us know that Friday-Mondays are much busier so if you are in town for a few days and can do a wednesday/Thursday, the waterfall views might be better with less crowds.
Overall, I would recommend this tour to anyone.
Also, we brought our own water but they gave water and snacks which was great!

The tour was wonderful from beginning to end, largely due to our guide/driver Carrie. Also, we had a pleasant mix of visitors from young (20's) to boomers; fortunately, we were all good walkers. Carrietook us to 4 of the most well-known waterfalls and described how they're classified; we had short and easy hikes for the last two. Just being knowledgeable about the history, geology and local culture isn't enough to be a guide; one also has to be interpersonally adept and a bit of a "mother" in shepherding the flock but doing so gently. Carrie was a perfect guide in all those ways. Plus, she's a safe driver, navigating two lane roads carefully while providing a running narrative. I found her story about the Latourell family with 8 children who became entertainers fascinating! Also, you can ask her for suggestions of restaurants and eateries. She's a fountain of recommendations.

Carrie was an awesome tour guide! She was conscientious of each attendee & made sure that we all were comfortable. Her passion for Oregon is amazing & she was able to provide all sorts of details for the entire drive, not just for the tour specifics. Her knowledge is vast & diverse & provided us with a fun experience! The gorge & falls were simply beautiful.
For the tour it was my brother & I in our mid/late 40s and our 81 y/o mom whose birthday we celebrated that day. The who was with you option does not include an option for family/adults only.

This is a hidden treasure just outside of Portland. My husband and I as well as some of my coworkers enjoyed the trip. The number and size of the waterfalls was amazing. my husband would not classify any of the walks we took to the waterfalls as a hike so as long as you have some basic athleticism you will enjoy it. The only thing we debated was if the price was work it. For the 6 of us to go it was ~$300 and we could rented a car for significantly cheaper and the tour guide didn't provide much to the experience except for the ride.

Hi Jessica! I’m so glad you loved it. I’m sorry you felt your guide wasn’t providing much to the experience — our guides usually get rave reviews about their storytelling and knowledge. On the day you visited, our guides were dealing with very poor air quality due to persistent fires, so it could have been trouble communicating with your large group with the voice impact of the smoke, which is a significant impediment. We strive always to deliver a five star experience but perfection is a high bar! (Car rental may not be as cheap as you think, also, for a group your size.) I hope you’ll come back.

We had such an amazing time on this tour! We saw 5 waterfalls in total and each one was beautiful in its unique way. Our tour guide, Sarah, was very knowledgeable about the area and knew all of the best spots to take us. We made memories (and took gorgeous photos) that will last a lifetime and we’ve already decided we want to go back! Highly recommend if you want to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city and experience some of Oregon’s natural beauty.

Really cool tour. The views were amazing, John (I think that's his name? Sorry if it isn't. Haha) was a really cool down to earth tour guide. He told us some really interesting historical stories and didn't sugar coat the facts which I appreciated. I'd definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to do some short easy hikes at the Columbia River Gorge without renting a car.

Carrie was nothing like that scary character. She brought us to 4 different waterfalls, brought a ton of insight and knowledge about the area and the wildlife around it. Carrie was a delight and I highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.

My boyfriend and I are coming to Portland the week of March 11th, we think it will be raining, will we still be able to do the tour despit whethe conditions if so?
Written March 4, 2024
I think they would still continue the tour. Portland is usually a rainy city, so they are accustomed to it. I think the waterfalls will be flowing more.

What time does it start in the morning?

They have two schedules a day, you select the desired time and you meet at their office at set time.

Hi there! I was hoping to catch this tour on my way out of Portland and will have a suitcase with me. Is this something that can be accommodated? Thank you for your help!

is there a limt to number of people allowed on tour?
is 6ft distancing practiced?
Written September 15, 2021
It was a small group. We rode in a van, so social distancing was not possible. When we were there, the COVID numbers were quite low. The tour providers were progressive. Reach out and ask if they require masks while in the van.
