- michaelmQ2686ZR0 contributionsFun day checking out the many water falls.Very nice tour, we would have never been able to find all the cool spots he showed us. Also, took pictures of us with the falls and the sign so we could remember our trip. Well worth the money.Written December 18, 2024
- Alec M0 contributionsPhil Is Awesome! The tour was amazing! Picked us up and dropped us off right outside of our hotel. Phil was very informative, kind, and had a great sense of humor. He also took time to take everyone’s pictures at each stop. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to tour the gorge!Written November 25, 2024
- yolandaf3480 contributionsWaterfalls galore! What a great experience. Driving in the old Scenic Hwy, we saw multiple water falls both in and out of the van. There were lots of stops to walk up close to the falls and take pictures. The trip operator (Gunner) was knowledgeable about the area and had lots of corny dad jokes to make us smile. I highly recommend!Written November 16, 2024
- wrox130 contributionsGreat sightseeing trip for a dayGorgeous views, with several quick stops along the way. Highlight was the snow at Timberline Lodge... I could've sat by that fireplace for hours. Tour guide / driver was friendly and knowledgeable. Got a lot in for the day, and perfect after several days of walking all over Portland (and looking for a little bit less walking).Written November 9, 2024

- Rickster46650 contributionsMt. HoodThis had to be the most beautiful mountain hike i have ever taken. You will need to be able to hike up steep terrain to get to the best spots. So if you have any health problems there are other nice views.Written November 2, 2024

- Danielle C0 contributionsA lovely way to spend an afternoonThe tour company was able to give us a meeting place since we weren't staying at a hotel, and Phoebe picked us up on time and ready to roll. There were 11 or 13 people on the tour with us, and we were comfortably seated in a lovely van. Phoebe told us some of the history and information behind the landmarks as we drove to the different destinations. We had plenty of time to explore each one, and we all enjoyed our time. Our part consisted of parents in their 40's, two 23 year old, a 20 year old, and a 17 year old. Thus is a great excursion idea for a family. We had a wonderful time!Written October 25, 2024

- monicapP7084TF0 contributionsMuch More Than a Tour GuidePeter was so very knowledgeable about the area. Unfortunately I took a tumble and ended up in the hospital that morning. While I took an ambulance ride, Peter took my husband to the hospital and stayed as long as we needed. He then took my husband back to pick up our car near the Pioneer Courthouse Square. I can't say enough good things about Peter. He helped us out so much on a very stressful day for us. He offered to do anything that we needed. He was so much more than a tour guide and we will never forget his kindness.Written September 29, 2024

Lan Su Chinese Gardens and the Pittock Mansion were both interesting attractions to visit and enjoy. Tour guide Aaron was well versed in the history of Portland and provided many insights on dining possibilities. The Rose Garden and Washington Park were a drive thru due to the weather but no doubt a great stop when the sun is out. Overall a nice 3.5 hours enjoying city sites.

I went to school here 35 years ago but never saw the city or knew the history of Portland. This was my boyfriend's first time to visit so this seemed like a great tour to go on.
Our guide John was really attentive and was able to pick us up at our hotel. We drove on the many bridges in Portland and also stopped in the Mississippi area of town. We walked around there as well as Pioneer Courthouse Square and Washington Park's Rose Garden.
Overall I thought it was a great way to learn about Portland and see sites without having to do it yourself. John was a great guide and not only knowledgeable but humorous.
We both enjoyed the afternoon!!

Jeff was very personable, friendly and courteous. Some of the stops for photo ops really didn’t mean anything to me ( Heathman Hotel, schnitzer theater for example). The Rose garden was very impressive and the Chinese garden was lovely ( and something I wouldn’t have thought to go see). I would have liked it even better if Jeff had been more knowledgeable about some things we passed by that weren’t part of the tour, but I would like to have k own more about.

This tour was just ok. The Pittock Mansion was nice from the outside, and the International Rose Test Garden was beautiful. But, we were supposed to "pass by” 42 more additional sites. We might have driven by 20 more places, but only stopped at the mansion and the rose garden. I think all of the people on the tour were a little disappointed. The tour guide was nice but maybe we should have asked more questions.

Hi Linda,
We show no record of a Linda who took a Portland Afternoon City Tour with our company. It appears that this review was posted to the wrong company.
Thank You

There are times of the year when some things are not open, but they do not tell you that. We really liked the small-group format, and the tour is intended to be comprehensive, good selection of places to go. We got to talk to the tour guide one-on-one, and ask questions. He was very knowledgeable when he provided answers, but I was confused as to why he didn't include that information for everyone in the group without being prompted. A more chatty guide might be more informative.

This was an outstanding tour of beautiful Portland. We happened to have beautiful weather. Our tour host, Gunnar, was exceptional. First, he handled the Mercedes Sprinter van through traffic with aplomb. He was charming and friendly. Most of all, Gunnar has an encyclopedic knowledge of Portland, it's history, climate, the uniqueness of each neighborhood and more. I highly recommend this tour and Gunnar in particular.

The small group (8 on our trip) afternoon tour was perfect for our needs. Tour guide was kind and the content was interesting. I enjoyed that we got to visit the Chinese garden and Pittock Mansion and our entry fees were included.

Good, personable and safe driver who knew a lot about Portland geographically and historically. We stopped at the Pittock Mansion and the Chinese garden. The garden was pretty, and the mansion was fine, but not sure those were necessary (particularly the mansion; time is of the essence when you’re traveling). Maybe those could be part of another tour? Also, sometimes it seemed like we were driving around a bit aimlessly, with our driver pointing out good restaurants, shops, etc. That info is hard to process when you’re looking out a window and don’t know where you are. Basically I paid attention and listened so I knew where I wanted to return the next day. It wasn’t a bad tour, but I wish it had been better.

Tour van was nice, the tour was a nice quick way to see some of the things Portland offers. The Japanese gardens are beautiful this time of year not only spring and summer. The rose test garden had a few bushes still blooming but during their on season it would be quite a remarkable place. i thought it was still worth it to run out and smell some roses quickly. Pittock mansion is beautiful. For a short amount of time given i think the attractions visited were appropriate. Tour guide was friendly and had a sense of humor.

Hi Gilma,
yes, this particular tour (Best of Portland City Afternoon Tour) starts at 2 pm. There is the City Tour of Portland by Wildwood Adventures, which offers a 9:00 am start time. Information about both tours are available here on TripAdvisor. I hope this helps, and enjoy your time in Portland.
