An exciting experience one can't mis
This is a wonderful, exciting, and unique experience that I have never had before. I was a little nervous coming in, warrying about the relatively chilly water and choppy sea. Before the kayaking experience, I did learned personally that the pacific ocean water is much cooler than I had imagined in the summer. The South Coast Tours provided clothing and boots that are water tight and thermally insulative. When getting into the water with the gears the company provided, I do not feel cold at all, which was a very pleasant surprise. The water was not as choppy as I thought as well. With the concern put behind us, only joy and excitement left for the journey. We were able to see closely the cliff along the sea cost, with its marine animals and plants. We saw seals lying on the rock, birds building nests on the cliff, sea stars and urchins along the water lines. The weather was fantastic. Our guide Marcos did a fantastic job, leading us through a somewhat challenging route, introduced historical development at this region and explained interesting marine environment that we were passing by. When I run into some problems in controlling the kayak against strong wind, Marcos come back fixed the problems with the kayak and pull me through the windy section of the route, which make me feel I am in good hand and safe. This is a very exciting experience, and I will highly recommend South Coast Tours to others who are looking for excitement along the Oregon coast.

      Great experience
We had blast! Our guide Marcus was very knowledgeable about the history of the place, and answered all our questions. It was out first time ocean kayaking, and it went without any problems. Marcus knew exactly what he was doing. Great experience!

      A wonderful tour!
This was my second trip with Southcoast Tours. I went on a kayak tour out of Brookings a couple of years ago. Boat tours out of Port Orford start with the exciting but really safe experience of being lowered from the dock to the water by crane. It was a sunny day and the sea was calm. We were pursued by fog, but our Captain, Brian, skillfully avoided the fog and took us to see many local treasures. We saw 3 whales and got to see flukes, fins and spouts. I highly recommend Southcoast Tours for taking locals like us or visitors to see the wonders of our area!

      Kayaking lower Rogue
Easy but enjoyable float down the lower Rogue. Opted for the shorter float as we had a full day planned. Dave was great, on time, and gave some good info for future fishing trips I must make to the area.

Would do it again in a heartbeat!
It was a fantastic tour at Port Orford. We saw so many starfish, urchins, groups of jellyfish, seals and even an otter. Many beautiful rock formations. The views were spectacular and we enjoyed all the information given by Dave.

Great Ocean Boat Tour in Port Orford, OR
We are a family of 6 (parents, grandparents & teenagers) that took the tour on the Black Pearl boat out of Port Orford. Our guide, Brian, was awesome! While we didn't see any whales because it isn't their season, we did see some seals, star fish, birds and beautiful scenery. We also got to experience the unique dock system they had in Port Orford where they lower the boat into the water via a crane. We all enjoyed this boat tour. In the words of one of the teenagers "10 out of 10!"

Fantastic adventure experience ocean kayaking for the first time. Hello, gray whale!
My 10-year-old, 7-year-old, and I went on an ocean kayaking trip (our first!) out of Brookings Harbor. Dave was helpful during the booking process and when I needed help pinpointing where to go the morning of the tour. Our guide Marcus was friendly, knowledgeable, and provided a safe, entertaining, and really fun experience. We saw wildlife up close, chased after a gray whale that was breaching and spraying through its blowhole, and returned to the harbor with smiles on our faces ready for a big lunch and our next adventure. Would recommend 100%!

      Fun family experience
My husband, kids (ages 3 and 11), and I had so much fun! We saw a mom and baby whale, seals, birds, starfish, and beautiful scenery. The boat ride itself was a lot of fun, but it got bumpy, so keep that in mind if you have any health issues. Also, you have to step into the boat (inflatable raft) from the dock while it's hovering in the air, so keep that in mind if you have any balance issues. Overall, the whole experience felt very safe and enjoyable.

Magical time on the sea with a grey whale and wildlife.
Captain Dave was exceptional. I was fortunate to be a solo guest among a small number of passengers and had a great experience on the Port Orford Whales and Wildlife Boat Tour. Our captain was very informative and shared an abundance of interesting facts about the wildlife we encountered. He spent an ample amount of time at the location where we sighted a 35 foot grey whale. Giving his passengers the opportunity to take lots of pictures and video. I look forward to taking other tours on future visits to the Southern Oregon Coast.

      Great Arches Tour
My husband and I had a fantastic time on the Arches Tour by inflatable kayak with our wonderful guide Marcus. We had the opportunity to paddle through 9 arches in the Secret Beach-Natural Bridges area of Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor. We have done a fair amount of sea kayaking in the rivers, lakes, estuaries, and bays of Oregon, but open ocean paddling is not something we would be comfortable doing without a guide, and Marcus was very knowledgeable about the area and paddling conditions needed for the various arches, as well as the birds and intertidal life. We also appreciated Marcus' commitment to the environment, evidenced by his making a dedicated trip down the trail to clean up trash. We have done a couple of other trips with South Coast Tours in previous years, and highly recommend the company!

I Will Never Forget This Trip!
We had the most incredible time on the Arch Rock Sea Paddle! This was NOT an easy paddle, but was easily the best kayaking experience of my life, to date. (Caveat for this review: we were lucky enough to have incredibly warm weather, no wind, and calm seas, so it was uncommon conditions for the Oregon coast). Our guide Marcus was fantastic - very personable, attentive, informative about local ecology and the creatures that inhabit the biome. He was very skilled at providing us opportunities to have some adventure, but reading the tides and swells to ensure we were safe when doing so. We went through 7 arches and into a couple sea caves (again, we had VERY favorable conditions). We saw birds, sea stars, anemones, an otter. The geology and biodiversity of all the rock and cliff formations was just stunning. Please believe the site when they describe this as an Intermediate-or-better paddle. If you opt to carry your own boat down and back up from the cove, it is somewhat strenuous. I never once felt in danger, but this excursion does require some know-how for how to steer your craft and get power out of your strokes when you need it. Based on this experience I would gladly go on any of the kayak tours offered by South Coast. Great outfit!

Fantastic morning kayaking with my wife!!! Our guide, Katie, was knowledgable and fun. We felt so amazed to be so close to harbor seals, star fish, osprey and much more. I appreciated the wetsuit and boots. The kayaks were easy to use and very stable. I even had the joy or riding a wave.

Beautiful trip. 12 of us took 3-4 hours with ages ranging from 5-63. A few of the younger ones that had their own kyak gave out and had to be "towed" but we had a great time overall.
