About
Get views of Wineglass Bay and Tasmania's Freycinet Peninsula from the deck of a boat on this half-day cruise. Sit back, relax, and watch for humpback whales, dolphins, and sea eagles—sights you may not catch on a traditional land-based tour. Dig into an included Ploughman's lunch (if option selected) while cruising past white-sand beaches, snapping photos of the rugged sea cliffs, and learning about the region through live commentary.

Highlights
  • Get ideal views of Wineglass Bay and the Freycinet Peninsula from the deck of a catamaran
  • Lunch of locally sourced produce and other products (if option selected)
  • Cash bar to taste local cool-climate wine
  • In-depth commentary about the area through live onboard commentary
What to expect
  • Step aboard a catamaran and find a comfortable spot on board to take in the scenery of Wineglass Bay and the Freycinet Peninsula. The catamaran features both indoor and outdoor seating and floor-to-ceiling windows, so there's not a bad seat in the house. And, the cruise can proceed no matter the weather. Views of both of these natural areas are best enjoyed from on the water, not to mention the possibility of getting up close with local whales, dolphins, and sea birds. The boat drops anchor amid the natural scenery and, if you've selected the option at checkout, serves a Ploughman's lunch, consisting of local produce, such as salmon, cheese, and chocolate. Step up to the cash bar for beverages and cool-climate wines. As you travel, listen to live commentary about the local environment, flora, and fauna, learning much more about Wineglass Bay than you would by simply exploring on your own.

Amazing day
Nov 2021 • Friends
We were lucky enough to do the wineglass bay cruise today. We saw seals, dolphins, whales and eagles. Staff (Matt and Will) were amazing. Very knowledgeable and helpful.

Amazing experience
From the moment we arrived on the upper deck, the food wine and service was terrific. Matt the skipper and Euan and Noah looked after us. We saw a seal, dozens of playful dolphins and a few cautious whales during our trip. The day was sunny and cool. The swell was negligible. The food was exquisite and generous. Highly recommended.

Excellent cruise!!!
10 out of 10 for this cruise. Saw more whales than if we had taken a whale watching cruise!! Beautiful scenery, lovely friendly staff and the lunch we had was excellent - box lunch. Captain was very informative and took time to stop for us to whale watch. Would thoroughly recommend this cruise.

An amazing experience
Oct 2021 • Couples
My fiancee and I went on the cruise to help celebrate our engagement and loved the experience. The staff were very friendly, caring and funny. A shout to Erin in particular who was fantastic. It was a bumpy ride at points which was fun and anyone on the boat who wasn't feeling well was looked after by the crew. Highly recommend!

Great day out, good value
Oct 2021
Knowing how the weather can make or break a trip out on the water we were very lucky to jag a great day with mild winds and only a bit of chop. The cruise operators are very professional and clearly enjoy their work. We opted for the Vista Deck with lunch included and thought that the $20 lunch was good value. Thrown in for extra value were some whales that are making their way along the coast and all in all it was a great day out to remember.

Nice day out, highly recommend!
Wow what a pleasant surprise! So glad the old bloke at the Swansea servo gave us the brochure for this trip. Very caring staff, they would often come and check on all of us to make sure we were ok. They even offered us natural blackmores ginger tablets at the start of the cruise. Lunch was definitely worth the extra $20. Dress warm and do this day trip! Awesomely put together guys, thanks for a great day out!

Not what we expected
The weather was not good from the start which is no fault of the Tour Operator. We were told up front that we may not get to Wineglass Bay and perhaps we should have given it a miss then. I am not sure if the tour should have been cancelled as it was really rough and we felt that it wasn’t enjoyable for us. On such a cold trip a warm drink would have been nice as the lunch was cold but then we’re no hot drinks onboard. Really all we saw were seals and then went over to an island where it was bone grating there and back which the vessel going up on the waves and crashing back down. The captain did his best but it wasn’t what we signed up for and would have been better cancelled as it was a waste of money for us.

Dear Josh Thank you so much for taking the time to provide feedback on your Wineglass Bay Cruises experience. We are disappointed to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. Our usual catamaran, Schouten Passage II does have hot drinks on board, but was undergoing maintenance the day that you travelled. Instead we used our brand new vessel, Freycinet Explorer, a state of the art smaller catamaran. We did advise all guests that we were using this vessel and that it does not have the bar facilities of the usual vessel including a coffee machine, so they could make the decision on whether to still do the cruise. However, we do understand that it is nice to have a hot drink on a cold Tassie day. Your Captain on the cruise was Robert Pennicott. He is a very experienced boat handler and carefully studies weather patterns before each cruise to ensure safety and comfort of our guests. Please be assured we do not cruise if weather conditions are not appropriate but we always advise guests regarding rougher conditions so they can make the decision to travel or not. Thank you again for taking the time to provide feedback. Best Regards Melinda

Wineglass Bay Cruise from Coles Bay
Apr 2021
This was a very windy departure, but the boat size made that fairly comfortable, and once we crossed to the ocean side, it all changed into a beautiful sunshine journey.

A few stops along the way to take in the coastline and beaches, a very enjoyable cruise

Great day with informative, friendly staff. We were on the boat during the off peak season so had plenty of room to sit where wanted to see everything and could relax. Saw fur seals and some amazing scenery. Perfect weather
