Overview
Let us send a few shivers up your spine on this late evening, 75 minute, ghost tour of Edinburgh’s Old Town. The history of Scotland’s capital is one not just made up of royalty, inventors, writers and scholars but also murderers, witches, bodysnatchers even cannibals. Allow one of our costumed guides, who play one such roguish former citizen, to enlighten and frighten you for the evening. They’ll take you through the winding closes and darkened courts of the Old Town, all the while telling about the horrific events which took place there. Following that the you will journey to perhaps Scotland’s most haunted graveyard, Greyfriars Kirkyard. For the last part of the tour you’ll be taken down into our decidedly sinister underground vaults below South Bridge. This tour is perfect for lovers of scary stories and the bloodier side of Scotland’s history but is more relaxed in tone than our later extreme paranormal tour.
Highlights
  • Get a different perspective on a Edinburgh’s history
  • Discover parts of Old Town overlooked by most tourists
  • Hear captivating tales from your guide, dressed in period costume
  • Visit hidden chambers inside South Bridge's arches
What to Expect
Your tour begins on Old Town's Royal Mile in Edinburgh, where you meet your guide, dressed as one of the city's notorious characters.

Follow your guide and hear the dark secrets of Old Town as you head down the lanes and narrow wynds (alleyways) that were once the heart of Edinburgh's slums. Discover the true stories of the people who lived in these cramped quarters, as well as mysteries that persist to this day.

Walk through a graveyard that is believed to be haunted and examine what’s written on the gravestones.

Next, go deep underground into some of the vaults that made up an underworld city in 18th-century Edinburgh.

Your guide returns you street level where your tour concludes back on the Royal Mile.

Tour guide was informative and pleasant, but given Edinburgh's history he only shared 2 ghost stories over the 90 minute tour. A lot of walking, not many ghosts.

Our guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Scotland has a fascinating history that has medieval roots. Very macabre.

Our guide was "Dr Knox" who really got into character. He was very knowledgeable about the history of Edinburgh and its grim and gory past. The tour takes you to the old parliament area, then to Greyfriars Kirk yard before moving onto underground Edinburgh in...More
