Climb into waders (supplied), and hear from the Oyster Farmer himself who will first take you on a historical adventure explaining Matthew Flinders voyage.  Wade out into the water to our floating pontoon where you will learn about how oysters are farmed, and taste the freshest oysters you'll ever taste, straight out of the water.  You'll have a chance to taste Pacific Oysters and the Native Coffin Bay Angasi Oyster.  You'll also have a hands-on shucking lesson where you will learn to shuck your very own oyster.  You'll have the chance to ask lots of questions, and by the time you leave you'll be an oyster officionardo!

      A wonderful experience.
We had the Oyster HQ tour and lunch as part of a day long tour. We had a young Argentinean guide who took us out to the platform and taught us how to shuck oysters and gave us a history of the oyster farming on The Eyre Peninsula on 18/10/24 She was a delight and I would recommend it to everyone who gets close to Coffins Bay.

      🦪 brilliant oyster tour
This is a brilliant oyster tour 🦪, our guides were fantastic. The oysters were freshly harvested, and we did the seafood add-on, which was terrific. I highly recommend.

      This is something different !
We had a fishing charter booked in coffin Bay and the guy cancelled it the night before. I jumped online and had a look and we booked the Oyster tour. In the he end the guys said bugger the fishing this is heaps better. It was fun trying to put on the waders, they fell really strange in the water. You can sit in waste deep water and swing your legs and still come out bone dry. Tour guides were friendly and very welcoming, they both did a job. This is something different to do and also a great way to spend a hour & half. Price of tour is cheap for what you get. We had lunch after which was amazing at the Oyster HQ and it has a a even better view with a menu for everyone. Give this a go and I don’t even eat Oysters and I was happy.

Knowledgeable and entertaining tour run by Paul and Di. Loved shucking our own oysters and learning how they are grown. Picturesque location. Thanks for having us!

Dinner at OysterHQ Coffin Bay. A gem of a restaurant in Coffin Bay. Very chic decor and a roaring fire . An excellent advertisement for the marvellous seafood in the region and they cater well for vegetarians too ( zucchini fritters are TDF)

      Next level
This is an adventure not to be missed. They have taken what is potentially just an education session to a while new level. We started by being given waders based on shoe size. A tip. Go for at least one size larger than you wear. We then had a brief talk about Matthew Flinders and has voyage in the area. Next, we were led on a wade of about 50 metres to a floating platform in the oyster lease. Water was well above the knee. We were seated on thwarts with a table in front. Water was just over the seat. We were then given a very well delivered explanation of oyster farming in the area. While this was happening other staff delivered glasses of wine, beer or soft drink depending on your order. I also had a Bloody Mary oyster shot. Yummy. Then we were taught how to shuck the oysters. We were given steel gloves just in case. Were were shown how to do one. We then did the remaining three ourselves. They were delicious. The talk continued and proceeded to Q and A. This went on too long. I got the impression that there was a timetable. It was a cold windy day and my wife and I were quite chilled from sitting in water by the time we got back. Tip. Do not wear shorts. If you are passing Coffin Bay, you should not miss this.

      Great experience
We went on the morning of my birthday and I had preordered a bottle of Moët to have with the tour. Very interesting tour , great to be in the water amongst the oysters. Great information and lots of fun. We had a seafood platter served in the restaurant after the tour - that was amazing. Lots of different items for tasting - highly recommended.

      I’m a shucker now!
Loved this tour, enjoyed learing all about the region, the oysters...how the procreate and even the waders I needed to wear to walk out to the floating shucking tables. I recommend 3 beers minimum or a bottle to share. I ordered 2 and they were going down a treat with the oysters.

      Interesting and fun visit
Great fun way to learn about oyster farming and sample very freshly shucked oysters. The tour was thoughtfully planned and catered and the seafood platters afterwards were world class - a sophisticated outing.

      Delicious and fun
The staff were friendly and warm from the minute we arrived. We got into our wadders before heading out as a group to a pontoon. Sitting with our legs in the water we learnt all about oysters production before learning how to shuck our oysters and enjoying them. So fresh and delicious. Then we are more ovsters in the restaurant after (we'd booked a reservation with the tour). It was a wonderful experience. Highly recommended.

Don’t miss this experience if you are in Coffin Bay
We saved this experience for the last day of our holiday and it didn’t disappoint. A unique experience brilliantly presented by John (? - Irishman) and Jess. Wearing waders, we walked out to a pontoon where we learnt about Coffin Bay and oysters, sampling the delights. Thank you for making our last day so memorable!

The whole experience. From putting the waders on and walking through the water, and walking along the walkway to the seating platform. We ordered the Bloody Mary and a bottle of Riesling to have out there. The bottle we ordered wasn’t available so was given the next one up, Rockfords, at the same price. It was lovely. Great customer service. Hospitality was the best. So much information. I’m not an oyster fan, and set out with thoughts of trying one but ate all four. So different to anything I’ve tasted in a restaurant. Another couple on our tour ordered the seafood platter and it looked amazing! So sorry we didn’t order it, highly recommend it if you like seafood and want to taste the local seafood. Don’t go to Coffin Bay or even Port Lincoln and not do this tour if you have time.

As an experience, this deserves 5 stars but to be clear, this is an on water oyster tasting, not an oyster farm tour. I just feel that the name is a little confusing.

We start out at the associated Oyster HQ, a restaurant right on the waterfront in the middle of Coffin Bay. Upon confirming your booking, you are handed a pair of waders, with inbuilt boots. You simply need to remove your footwear, pop on some socks (if you haven’t already) and climb into your waders. Lots of merriment here among the participants with “slimmer” people seeming to have less difficulty. But really, its all good fun and the team are helpful finding everyone the right size.

It’s then down to the beach for a brief history lesson on the exploration of the region by Matthew Flinders, then it’s a waddle out to “Saltwater Pavilion” through knee to waist deep water. The Pavillon is a sturdy aluminium pontoon structure situation about 50 meters from the shore. Pre-ordered drinks are served and our hosts begin a very informative and entertaining talk about the history of Oyster farming in the area, development, progress, markets etc etc. They demonstrate the correct way to shuck an oyster and then you can try your hand. Everyone receives 4 oysters but you can, and we did, pre-order more. Fresh lemon and Tabasco sauce are provided.

There’s lots of time for any questions to be asked & answered and photos taken.

It’s a fantastic experience, very unique and very entertaining.

My wife and I are caravanning around the SA coast line and wanted to experience the Coffin Bay Oyster Farm and Tasting.
The booking was made through the Pt Lincoln Information Centre and when we did our research, I contacted Kim and Ben to arrange a seafood platter as well.
They were awesome to deal with and the platter was unbelievable (more about that later).
When Ben called every one (22 all up) to suit up in waders, the anticipation started .
We were given a short history lesson on Matthew Flinders naming of the various bays around the West coast and then headed out in waist deep water to the pontoon where Kim met us and arranged our seating
Some opted for a bottle of white wine and extra oysters. We went for a bloody-mary shot glass with the oyster as the star attraction as the reward when it went down. It certainly won’t be the last time we do that!
After the biology lesson on the life cycle and farming techniques, the lesson on shucking was personalised as Ben went around the table explaining how and why it is done and we were provided with protective gloves for a klutt’s like me.
We have had lots of oysters, bought from supermarkets, restaurants and fish wholesalers but the taste of these was so much more rewarding. The sea salt was crisp and the cool oyster absolutely perfect. We had 4 oysters in our standard package and should have gone 4 more.
Once we got back onto terra-firma, the sea food platter for 2 was brought out and omg.
If ever there was bench mark for a dish so good, that was it!
If ever you get to Port Lincoln or CB, be sure to check them out. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Fantastic experience, walked in waders to a floating classroom and tasting table. Ben explained the history and challenges for both Coffin Bay and the Industry and growth cycles of the Oysters.
Ben also gave everyone a personal lesson into shucking oysters.
Tasting of different varieties was a great experience.
Overall a fantastic day and all enjoyed with a beverage of your choice
    Would highly recommend

What a truly delightful experience this was - something very unique and both Chris and Beth were informative, charming and funny! The oysters were a delight and the little sit in the ocean table/bar area was superb! It was a massivley hot day and the rubber waders were so thick however once out in the ocean, the area was shaded and it was a delight to stand and cool off in the water. Once we had waded back, we delighted in the seafood platter, both my partner and I have travelled extensively however this was the best platter by far that we had ever had, just perfect, delicious, fresh, a true taste explosion and it went down well with some fresh Riesling. Sadly there was no local wine available however it didn't spoil the day. Well done to the team, we will be back.

I did the 1.5 hr experience with my 23 year old son and he’s 23 year old partner . The weather wasn’t fabulous we had light rain but that didn’t interfere with the experience. Rob who was our guide was accompanied by Rosa and it was her first day so she was learning the ropes . We all put our wanders on so that also protected you from the rain quite a bit I also had my rain jacket do I wore that so I stayed pretty dry.
Rob gave us some of the history of the area and oyster farming in Coffin Bay , he’s extremely knowledgeable and told a few funny jokes along the way . We then waded out to the pontoon where we all got to sit down and Rob went through the cultivation of the oyster again extremely knowledgeable and very interesting. We had ordered drinks when we checked in so sat there having a nice class of rose . It was then time to learn how to shuck the oysters it was a little hard at first but once you got the hang of it, it was very rewarding to eat your own shucked oysters . . Overall a fantastic experience with a great tour guide . Rosa was just lovely, friendly and helpful.
Definitely a experience you need to do while in Coffin Bay

Since there is a slot for 12:00pm, we booked it but when we went there, the lady in red lipstick said with attitude that “ can you see we are so busy, that booking we cannot maintain. It’s wrong, you can come back at 2:30pm or you cancel your booking”.we already planned out everything for the day as it is our last day in port Lincoln. This screwed up our plan for the day big time. We are treated very badly. This lady and the place forget that they make their living from the tourists. Horrible attitude and hospitality😡 I don’t know about others but we had very bad experience. It really churns my stomach just thinking about it😡😡

There was no actual tour! We waded out in the water 50 metres to a random spot where the guide told us close by is an unused oyster lease. We then returned to the dock to sit in the semi submerged pontoon table. The pontoon table was connected to oyster hq (restaurant) dock with no actual farm in near vicinity. The shucking experience was good but I feel a little jipped about the lack of tour!

My wife Joanne and I as a birthday gift to her participated in the tour one day in late January, 2023. The presenters Joe and Josh were excellent in both knowledge and service. We had a local sparkling wine and a couple dozen freshly shucked oysters while sitting there in crystal clear waist deep water. Did I mention that we shucked the oysters ourselves...... LOL? It was a great experience and we recommend it to all.

By the way we followed up the tour with an excellent lunch at the HQ right where the tour begins and ends. You can't go wrong.

An excellent tour and information about the area and the whole story of farming and harvesting oysters nice to have freshly shucked oysters and the platter of fresh seafood in the restaurant was one of the best ever only downside was the wading out through the uneven slightly running cry shallows would Le be better to go to the floating deck front m the access ramps nearby the pontoon must safer there.
All in all a great experience.
