About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- pla_orange0 contributionsOK but a couple of disappointing things for usWe did the Heart Mountain canyoning tour near Canmore. It was fun, the guide was good and everything was handled just fine. We had two things that made it disappointing to us. First thing: we were part of a group of 7 plus the guide. So every rappel or other rope climb, slide, etc had to work through 8 people. That results in lots of standing around, so we agreed we would not do it unless we knew it was a smaller group. I think the guide also assumes he needs to hike slow for people to keep up, but following in a single file line and continuing to stop while the guide talks to whoever is closest to him also is a slow process, particularly on the way back at the end. Second and this is probably a matter of preference. The video on-line shows people in deep water and this is what we imagined. Came to find out that in the early summer, the upper part of the creek is full of water from snow melt, but in later summer, that half of the journey is mostly dry. That results in more rappelling, which you may like, but we had in our mind more water adventure, so this is just a heads up to know what you will be getting based on timing.Written September 1, 2024
- Passenger7348110 contributionsCanyoning at Heart CreekWe went canyoning on the heart creek canyoning adventure. It was fantastic! An hour or so walk to the start, then great practice session followed by fun and challenging slides , descents down ! Pablo was very competent, with just the right kind of encouragement with every new task ! It was a perfect addition to our Banff vacation!Written August 1, 2023
- lyndonc7080 contributionsIce RappellingMark took us on a waterfall rappelling adventure down Troll Falls. I had a great time and will be going on other adventures. I highly recommend giving it a go.Written December 29, 2022
- CeceliaJean0 contributionsAbsolutely incredible and super safeWe did the heart creek canyon tour (beginner) for our first time ever canyoning. The hike in felt like it was about an hour but I’m sure it was shorter - we do not hike often and did not struggle with the hike. I am a smaller woman with limited strength and was worried about this however it was not an issue. Our guide AJ was incredible. AJ made sure the group felt very safe, great to talk to and comforting at any time you needed. We would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a little bit of heights and is looking for an exciting way to spend your morning or afternoon. We will absolutely be back the next time we’re in the area.Written September 1, 2022
- Sam N0 contributionsAwesomeWe had the opportunity to do the Heart Creek Canyon rappelling. Our guide Kris with a “K” made this adventure an experience we will never forget. Besides the beautiful mountains he went above and beyond to see we were safe and enjoyed ourselves. He is patient, understanding of limits, knowledgeable, and most of all a great guy. The Manitoba crew will be back and hope to have the same kind of experience. You guys literally “ROCK” Thank you!Written August 17, 2022
- laurkthz0 contributionsOne of our highlights in BanffWe had a great time! We did the full-day canyoning Tour (Ghost Canyon) and enjoyed it. Even the drive was fun and the location was spectacular. Thanks for the great day, we highly recommend itWritten August 1, 2022
- 440nien0 contributionsGreat experienceWe did the Heart Creek canyon tour. It was an amazing experience! Our guide, Kris, was enthusiastic and very friendly. Safety was the first priority on this tour, i felt really safe. I can highly recommend booking a tour here.Written July 24, 2022
- Thomasmahbeer0 contributionsAwesome experience!Did the Heart creek canyoning and it was great! Our guide, Marc, was really helpful and made this an incredible experience. I would recommend anyone going to Banff to try it out!Written July 6, 2022
- 88ChloeRiv0 contributionsCanyoningOur canyoning guide, Marc, was full of energy and super knowledgeable from start to finish. He provided exceptional customer service by accommodating us when there was no available guide for our original full day trip, and made sure to book us for the next available excursion. During the tour, Marc made sure we were safe and comfortable no matter the obstacle. He went above and beyond to make our trip to Banff memorable! We will definitely be back in the future. Thank you!!!Written July 5, 2022
- Sébastien L0 contributionsActivity to add on your to do list!We did the half-day canyoning with Chris and it was amazing! The site is really great with an easier part to start and a long waterfall at the end. Our 13 year old never complained, so that’s a true sign that it was awesome. Thanks Chris!Written July 4, 2022
- mptan16610 contributionsCanmore vacationIt was a really great experience. Except for the freezing cold water, I’d say it was the most fun outdoor activity ever. Great guide too (Mark).Written June 30, 2022
- samanthaF36210 contributionsHeart Creek CanyoningWould absolutely recommend the canyoning experience to anyone traveling to AB. We did the Heart Creek Canyoning in Canmore. Such an amazing day with a great group (2 of us, but 6 in total with others who booked). Marc was our guide! He was incredible and truly made the experience memorable. He remained so enthusiastic and you could see his passion for this activity! While this was my first time repelling, my boyfriend had more experience, and for a beginner style experience we both equally enjoyed it and were challenged in different ways. Get to booking!Written June 7, 2022
- C3442VPjenniferg0 contributionsAmazing canyoning experience! My family of four (myself, my husband, my 18 yr old son, and my 15 yr old son) went canyoning with Marc at Silverton Falls at the end of August 2021. We are an adventurous family and have done lots of activities all over the world (numerous ziplines, high ropes, horseback riding, deep sea fishing, scuba, ATVing, etc.) so we were up for this challenge. And it was indeed a challenge. And a bit scary. But sooooo awesome!! Marc is very capable and energetic and fun. We felt extremely safe with him. We met Marc in downtown Banff at 9am and returned to our hotel around 3pm. Marc took us to repel on “dry land” first to determine our ability level so that he knew which spot to take us to canyon (there are 2 or 3 starting points). My family members have all repelled before, but we are not practiced climbers. We agreed that canyoning at Silverton Falls suited us. There was a bit of a steep scramble to get to the top and then it’s full-on-all-in right away. About 6 or 7 falls to repel and 2 or 3 pool jumps. Not for the faint of heart, but an amazing experience!!Written November 7, 2021
- funnyfanny0 contributionsAn amazing experience5 of us went on the medium canyoneering with Marc, we began the day with an awesome climb which was well worth it, the coming down was a complete blast!. This was an amazing day filled with excitement and thrills. Marc made the day something we will not forget.Written August 5, 2021
- ellenR7163GC0 contributionsWould go againWe did the ghost canyon tour and loved it! It was right up my husband's alley and Marc the instructor was very patient, helpful, and encouraging with me when I was a little more timid with the whole experience. Marc was clearly experienced and wanted to make sure we had the best experience possible! He also made sure to capture the experience with lots of photos and videos! Would definitely go again!Written August 5, 2021

My young son and I had the pleasure to attend the Two Day Survival course, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I suspect the previous reviewer who gave negative feedback was having a bad day (and/or didn’t bother to read any of the information provided ahead of time on the course), as everything about this course was enjoyable and well organized.
Marc was extremely informative, approachable, and able to answer all questions our group (of 6, 3 groups of 2) posed of him. The location was splendid, breakfast, lunch and dinner delicious (love those honey garlic sausages), and all the training sessions a lot of fun!
We couldn’t recommend this course enough to people of all ages who want to learn some basic survival skills, apply them in real time, and have a lot of fun!

The teachers were awesome, super friendly, approachable and knowledgeable. The course itself was great. It exceeded our expectations!! I came out of it learning a lot. I would highly recommend this tour if you’re just starting out in survival or back country camping or camping in general. You will not be disappointed.

Don't waste your money. Marc is very friendly and fun to chat with however, he did not book us a spot on the long weekend and driving around to find a spot was very inconvenient since we had to drive ourselves and it was wasting our time. The provided food was wet sandwiches and pasta ☹ and the group felt Marc didn't really know enough to be teaching a survival course. He couldn't answer some very basic questions and we were all beginners. I think we all came away feeling this was not worth nearly $300 and we certainly could've done something better with our money.

Dear Amanda,
Thank you for your time and review. We are very sorry to hear that our intro survival course did not seem to meet your expectations. We would like to note that because your review is such a drastic discrepancy from our unequivocally positive 5 star reviews, we recommend that you contact us directly with any concerns or issues that you may have had. As the owner and primary instructor of the course in question (and with over 20 years of guiding and outdoor instructing experience), I would gladly like to know in more detail what questions you felt were not answered and follow up on any outstanding concerns that you may still have. Our perception of the weekend in question was that all participants were enjoying themselves, and taking in the course fully. It is for this reason that in the future we would also recommend bringing up any concerns you might have directly with the instructor at the time of occurrence to provide us a chance to develop a solution immediately. We stand 100% behind the rock solid outdoor programs and trips we organize, and it is for this reason that we also feel it is important to highlight several mischaracterizations and misrepresentations in your review. For example, evaluating services (such as transportation and reservation of sites on crown land) which are either not included in the course or impossible to do, which is indicated clearly on our website. Finally, we typically have great reviews regarding the quality and variety of camp food provided; some modifications to food preparation have been required this summer due to public health guidelines regarding coronavirus (as for example, not allowing buffet-style lunch and dinners). All of this leads us to conclude that potentially there may have been a misunderstanding or misconception upon booking about what our survival courses encompass. Again we encourage you to contact us directly at any time to clarify and potentially mitigate these issues.

Great to hear, thank you for your feedback. We always thrive to provide the best experience possible. Our aim is to deliver a course that is both informative, applicable to a wide variety of outdoor situations, and which is a lot of fun.
