- susantE4822QF0 contributionsbad experienceAbandoned place, bad service, lousy drinks and food, miserable, expensive, super slow, the pretty beach is very far away, the beach is dirty, the service is very bad, it's not worth itWritten July 19, 2024
- 638robinf0 contributionsBike rental while we were on our cruise stop in Costa Maya. When we arrived at the place, they were very helpful. We had a late arrival and he called me to make sure that we were still coming which was very nice. The only thing that would make it better is if they had better signage about the bike rental.Written March 14, 2024
- CarlosSierra6660 contributionsSafe and relax escape from a 7d cruiseI booked this experience since I wanted to get away from the crowds of our cruise. While on the beach, I saw no people to either side on the beach for miles. We could relax and get a nice break for a few hours. Place is minimalist, and I felt safe all the time, including private transportation from the pickup place (a couple of blocks from the port). Ambar was our host and provided some drinks and a nice lunch including fresh fish. There were some kayaks available but we declined to use them. We simply enjoyed the peace of the waves and breeze.Written December 18, 2023
- nathanpreheim0 contributionsRaul was exceptional!Raul took good care of us! Bikes were a fun way to explore the community. Would highly recommend this opportunity to anyone who wants to get out there and pedal a bit. The electronic motor made it even easier. There is a wide pedestrian road that was very bike friendly. We also found other roadways to be very safe and navigable.Written April 1, 2023

- brutusbone20 contributionsBike rental in Costa MayaThis company provided exactly what they promised. The pickup was very easy. Our bikes were ready to go and the instructions on where go was simple and easy as well. The bikes had a few miles on them but performed perfectly. We’d certainly do this again if e find ourselves in Costa Maya.Written January 29, 2023
- Nomad894430 contributions👎🏻Cab driver could not find the place. No English speaking attendants on phone line. Going to try and get my $50. refund from trip advisor. Roads would have been pretty rough for an e-bike anyhow traveling through some pretty sketchy neighborhoods. Trip advisor customer service is terrible.Written January 18, 2023
- allisonfurlan0 contributionsBikes were in rough shape but still had fun!The building was easy enough to find, however when we arrived the owner was not there, he had an emergency, and there was someone else filling in. That was understandable as life happens and if that was the only snag it would have been fine. The electric bikes we rented and paid for ahead of time were questionable at best. My husband's bike didn't have a full charge (although they did end up lasting for our short outing) but the brakes barely worked on mine and the front light was dangling by a thread. Bikes are a great way to explore Costa Maya and we had a great time exploring but I would caution using this rental again.Written January 18, 2023

- zak9150 contributionsNo communication, no refundWe pre-purchased our experience and when we showed up to pick up our bikes they informed us that due to previous rains the roads were too bad to drive on so they couldn't lend us the bikes. First off, it would have been nice for them to email or call to let me know the experience would be canceled. Secondly the gentleman shared they would offer a refund because we couldn't take the bikes and a month later we still haven't received a refund. I reached out two weeks after and was told they would give the refund, but still no refund. Just be warned that if it rains they will unlikely let you still borrow the bike, and good luck with that refund.Written May 26, 2022

Both bikes we rented were fully charged and provided us with plenty of power to tool around the island and see everything we wanted to see. - janetbrown20170 contributionsGreat Day touring Costa Maya on e-bikesAmazing day on the e-bikes. Adrian was waiting for us at the designated meeting as spot which was just 2 blocks outside the port (5 minute walk). He gave us a bottle of cold water and explained the area and how to get to the waterfront. It was a 10 minute bike ride away. We rode around for a couple of hours and when we returned, Adrian was there to receive the bikes. We had a fun day. We loved renting the e- bike and the service we received from Adrian.Written May 22, 2022

My husband and I visited this private beach during the third week of April 2024. We came into port on the Carnival Jubilee, and then decided to book this through Trip Advisor based on other reviews.
We exited the port and walked a block north where there was an area which had a sign with my name. My husband and I were the only ones, so we had our own driver to the private beach and we read detailed reviews prior to booking. The drive from the port to the beach was probably 35 minutes into nowhere, but our driver drove very fast, which I appreciated. The road out there is two lane for quite a distance and you feel as if you're driving into oblivion and we were somewhat skeptical at first, but I remembered the reviews. After we exited the road, we went down a sandy, private drive, equally as remote, and our driver pulled up to a small beach pavilion to drop us off....the place is called Playa Xahuayxol and part of the Mexican Caribbean. We were greeted by the hostess, "G", as we'll call her as to not give out actual names, and we were the only ones there. The property had about eight other individual units, and she said others were there, but hadn't wondered over the main restaurant/bar area yet. My husband and I sat down on the picnic table and "G" was right there to serve us anything we wanted. As a bonus, the place had two dogs who loved being around everyone, and would make sand circles and lie down at your feet. We then wondered into the water, wading chest high, and the place was stunning and beautiful as well as remote. "G" was extremely accommodating and strived hard to make it a wonderful experience, with a very laid back vibe. After a while, we got two kayaks and paddled out to the reef to snorkel, where we enjoyed viewing the abundance of sea plants (especially bright and beautiful purple sea fans) and some fish...much more vibrant plant life than fish. When we returned, we were served more drinks and the best ceviche and guacamole we've ever had. Once we were finished for the day, the same driver came and drove us back to port.
We don't like to return to places we've already been, but a return here is a must. Do not let the remoteness and distance of the adventure keep you from booking. It is extremely laid back and if you're looking for a plush, high end resort, this is not your place, and that is why we loved it. The authenticity of the culture and country was abundant and we would highly recommend it....best kept secret in the area in our opinion, and all of the people can keep their overpriced, overpacked ports.

The 8 Eco Cabanas and Luna Restaurant at Xahuayxol’s beach are the ultimate dream paradise experience to stay or just visit for the day 🌺💕.
It’s only about a 20 min journey from the entrance of the touristic town of Mahahual’s port, a couple of hours from Chetumal airport, 1.5 from Bacalar Lagoon to the tranquility of the private beach of xahuayxol.
I loved spending time at this beautiful little private beach! No vendors or anyone to distract you.. just pelicans and palm trees.
You can snorkel, kayak kite surf or just relax and sun tan all day.
The food at the one and only restaurant is very good and the people working here are warm and welcoming.
By far one of my favorite places in Mexico!

The whole experience was very peaceful & joyful! Our driver Andy was on time & was warm & friendly! The people from Costa Maya were very inviting & friendly & made us feel welcomed & safe. The beach was AMAZING! this is the perfect spot if you’re looking to relax because it is a secluded beach in the middle of nowhere. The waters are sparkling light blue & no waves. The staff were very friendly & waited on us hand & foot. I would definitely come back! Thank you!!!!

We loved this experience! The owners are very hospitable and provide excellent service, while still giving you plenty of privacy. The organizers text the us the morning of our scheduled date and let us know exactly where to meet them at the cruise port. The food was freshly made to order and taste great, nice drinks too! The day we were there, there was only one other couple there as well. We walked the beach and made use of the kayaks as well. It was a very relaxing experience.Highly recommended!

This was a great day for my friend and I. We started out just snorkeling around the area. There's not much to see here and the don't have flippers so it takes a lot of time and effort to get anywhere. We gave up the snorkeling and they brought us chips and guacamole and it was amazing! Next, we grabbed a kayak and took it out. That was a TON of fun. The kayaks are the sit-on-top variety with pretty much no back support, but they're quite stable and get the job done. We went way out and explored the area and just enjoyed being on the water. After that we relaxed in the sun and they brought us lunch. They served fish, fresh from they ocean and ceviche, too. It was AMAZING! My weird friend doesn't like fish so they brought him a cheeseburger. It was pretty freaking fantastic, too! Then we started on the drinks. The mixed drinks were fantastic and complimentary. Then the girls started bringing is tequila shots. We killed an entire bottle of tequila! We learned a little Spanish, they learned a little English, and we all had a BLAST! I will never forget the toast:
Pa arriba
Pa abajo
Pa'l centro
Pa dentro!
(I hope I spelled that correctly).
This is an amazing family owned business. I will definitely come back here!

This place was so pretty and we were literally the only family group there (10 of us). Although it wasn’t what we expected, Carlos made the experience such an enjoyable one. The description was all inclusive and it was however it was limited to what they had on hand. They kept bringing out various appetizers to try and it was AMAZING!!! All freshly made!!! It did take about 30-40 minutes to get to this private beach and you drive down a verrrry long dirt road so do not worry! I would definitely recommend it just know that drinks may be limited to what’s there. Carlos was an awesome host and I would do this excursion again in a heart beat!

Our family visited this all-inclusive property this week while visiting Costa Maya aboard a Royal Caribbean cruise. We enjoy booking non-cruise sponsored excursions, and this did NOT disappoint! After a short walk from the cruise port, we were met with private transportation. This BEAUTIFUL beachfront paradise is approximately 30 minutes from the meeting spot.
We enjoyed delicious food (fresh guacamole, ceviche, and steak tacos), breathtaking views, and fun in the water. This property is perfect for those simply seeking to relax and enjoy the view or those who wish to kayak, snorkel, etc. The team was incredibly hospitable and made us feel at home! Restrooms were clean, and we have no complaints.
In addition to our family of four, there was a large extended family (approximately 25+ people) visiting on the same day. While there were a lot of us on-site, it didn’t feel crowded at all.
100% recommended!

This was an amazing experience in Costa Maya. We had a group of six that visited the all inclusive beach and we all raved about how much fun this was. Our taxi was easy to find about 2 blocks outside of the port and they had a whiteboard with my name on it so I knew exactly who to look for. We then took a comfortable air conditioned ride to the beach. The ride was about 30 minutes, but did not seem that long as we took in the scenery. Upon arrival we were met by our hosts and led to the beach area that is quiet and serene. One other group was there but there was ample space for everyone. We then walked along the beach, swam in the water, and just lounged around for hours. Fresh made guacamole with chips, the best ceviche we have ever had and chicken and beef tacos were included along with all of our drinks. Everything tasted great and our service staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. When it was time to leave, our taxi was there on time and got us back to port in plenty of time. Upon arriving back into to the crowded cruise port where 2 mega ships had docked in addition to our smaller ship, there was no breeze and it was extremely congested, we knew we had made the right decision for the day! I would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet comfortable day away from the crowded port of Costa Maya.

Best beach experience ever! Compared to the hectic atmosphere of cruise line beaches or over packed resorts this was BEYOND amazing! The food was incredible the staff was friendly and very attentive! I cannot say how truly amazing this beach and experience was! Pictures do do it justice, if you looking for a peaceful and secluded beach experience with transparent water, kayaks and food don’t think about it and just book this place! The dog canelo was also so sweet. Can’t wait to go back!

We wanted a fun excursion away from the cruise terminal and away from the crowds and this was it. We had a private personal driver Sergio who was ready and waiting for us with a sign right out side of the Costa Maya Port. He verified who we were and led us to a clean air conditioned van. 10 of us fit comfortably. We drove about 35 minutes out of town down a narrow road onto a private beach facility. We were met by our hostess Amber. She promptly asked what we’d like to drink then led us to our beach front table. We had the beach to ourselves it included lounge chairs, kayaks and snorkel equipment. Lunch consisted of guacamole and chips appetizer, beef and chicken tacos and ceviche. Plus more drinks ! This was not a fancy facility but it was clean and secluded. The beach could not have been more beautiful. We all loved our experience and only wished we had more time there.
