- GeneBarnett0 contributionsWill not regret, def do againJust exit the port at the taxis stand. Just yell taxi as you go and merchants will point the way. Tell the first driver 40 " CANYOWNEZ" $4? Great place. Its tun doen some but once on the water it doesnt matter. The beds pillows and shade are perfect. Waiters are top notch on time and very friendly. English no problem. Water excellent. Nachos were tremendous. Drinks wee bit week but tasty. RECOMMENDWritten August 15, 2024
- LisaBFlor0 contributionsDefinetly recommendedWe arrived to Costa Maya via a RC cruise. I had looked into options and read about heading to the 40 Canones area for beach clubs. I can tell you that exiting the port's village is confusing, and many people tried to give the run around when all we wanted was a taxi. The taxi drive was short and $4 per person- just say you want to head to the village, or 40 Canones. I'm told there is no more shuttle service after Covid happened. Once there, you go in, and are welcomed to this amazing beach club. We paid $20 per person (my smallest son did not have to pay), and we had access to a bed, wifi, and facilities. My kids are quite picky so I figured this was a better option than purchasing a day pass. We did order mozzarrela sticks and fries, which were very good. We asked about snorkeling, which was done thru a third party on the premises. This we did almost upon arrival, around 9 am, and our bed was held. The sand was very soft and clear, with small fish swimming around, and the water was warm. There are small patches of sea grass, which was explained as very important. It seems the majority of beach clubs have nets a few yards away from the shore, and this is meant to hold off the sargasso, which was explained can cause welts is it's housing something (can't remember if it's a type of fish). There are open areas that you can get past the nets if you want to swim farther. Overall, this was an amazing place, and we recommend and would come back here.Written April 27, 2024
- Voyage303737388120 contributionsWe loved it!Found Pez Quadro on a travel blog and am so happy I did! The only complaint I have is we weren’t there long enough. Everyone was so nice and provided great customer service. The food was EXCELLENT! The beach was beautiful and relaxing. The port was so crowded, you could barely walk, then we got to Pez Quadro, and it was so peaceful and beautiful. I highly recommend if you’re looking for a relaxing day at the beach.Written March 28, 2024
- CARMEN P0 contributionsAmazing Beach ClubHad the opportunity to visit during our cruise stop with Royal Carribean. It was one of our highlights of the trip. Location was peaceful and service was top notch. The sun beds were fantastic and clean. The food was absolutely delicious and well worth the price. I'm still dreaming about the ceviche! My sister and I both got massages and they were so amazing. The kids had a great time. Highly recommend!Written March 26, 2024
- 988abbyj0 contributionsLots of activities and free drinks! We went on a family cruise on Royal Caribbean to Puerto Costa Maya in March 2024. We had the best time at the beach and it was one of our favorite excursions of the whole vacation. Here is our summary: - You take a 15-20 minute bus ride to the beach/shopping area. The bus was air conditioned, seats were roomy, and driver was very nice - Be aware that, as expected, there are a lot of sellers near the beach/shopping areas trying to sell you stuff. Most of them are nice and you can say "no thank you" if you aren't interested. Regardless, this can be overwhelming if you haven't experienced it before - The beach area itself was clean and beautiful. The lounge chairs were comfortable and had padded seating and were available both in the sun and in the shade - Through our package, we had access to the lounge chairs, free drinks, a pool with a floating bar, and kayaking - Our bartender, Benjamin, was awesome and continually checked on us to see if we needed anything - The free alcoholic drinks on the menu included piña coladas, daiquiris, electric lemonades, mojitos, mai tais, and much more - The kayak was high quality and easy to maneuver. It even had a compartment on both seats where you could store a phone or camera so it doesn't get wet. Each pair of people had 20 minutes on the kayak to allow time for all guests - The pool with the floating bar was very fun and tropical and there were lounge chairs available there as well - Lunch and snacks were available for purchaseWritten March 16, 2024
- Jenhaycox80 contributionsBest lunch of our trip, authentic beach and town settingOur private driver brought us here for a beach lunch. We loved that the restaurant and beach were in the authentic part of town… crowded with tourists and locals, side-by-side rustic Mexican structures, and small connected beach areas - trees shading the dining tables in the sand, fronted by lots of lounge chairs and calm turquoise water swimming areas. It’s not the place to be if you want peaceful relaxation. But it was fun for energetic sights and sounds… local dogs, guitar players, people, and even a tank rolled by with armed soldiers on top. Hosts were attentive despite it being busy. The food was not cheap, but it was great! The shrimp ceviche was hands down the best meal we had during our weeklong vacation. Good selection of cold beer. Vendors walking between tables and loungers were varying degrees of aggressive, but after turning down 8-10 of them, we were left alone. Boat tours, kayaks, paddle boards could be rented. We spent about 2 hours here- it added a bit of local insight and fun to our stop in Costa Maya.Written March 10, 2024
- youngatheart560 contributionsGreat place for a lazy day 😎Great place, laid back, 1metre from seafront on a bed😁 top food, unlimited drinks, get there early to get best beds, great service, highly recommended for a lazy sunbathing day😎Written February 26, 2024
- 698kater0 contributionsTake a pass on this one! This beach club is very average at best. It is very overpriced! We constantly had to look for a waiter or go in to the actual bar across the walkway from the beach to get drinks. The food was average. The fajitas were the best thing we ordered. You will be hounded by vendors while you are trying to relax but they were all very polite and kind. The only reason I'm giving this 3 stars is because of Benito. He is partially deaf and cannot speak but he found a way to communicate with us to get us what we needed. He was the only staff out there on the beach that was actually working hard to take care of the customers. After going to Mr. Sancho's in Cozumel (much cheaper) the day before this place was a disappointment. We will look for a different beach club in Costa Maya in the future.Written January 4, 2024
- Andrea M0 contributionsFresh food, good fun, great peopleThis place was INCREDIBLE! From the moment we arrived it was a warm welcome. Wonderful food, awesome beds with shade to lay on and one of the nicest beaches I've been to in my life. I felt very safe at the venue and the food was fresh and filling. I will 100% be back if I go to Costa Maya again!Written November 26, 2023
- TravelWanderer70 contributionsOne time only experience and will not return.First time visiting this locatio and definitely the last. Absolutely not what we expected. Taxi ride is about 10 minutes. 1. The beach was full of rocks and seaweed. It was sectioned off with what looked like mesh & rope filled with gunky old seaweed. Barely any space of the water was clear. We decided against going snorkeling because it was just awful and not inviting. Just awful. 2. No other activities to do other than sit in a lounge chair closely packed and look at the small ugly beach. 3. The lounge chairs were filthy and packed closely together. Think of sardines in a can. 4. There was constant flow of vendors hounding us with their merchandise! We stopped counting after the 10th vendor in a span of 2 hours. It was particularly annoying. 5. They tried to charge us the full price, luckily we brought the email confirmation of the 50% deposit. 6. The 1 dish meal was the only thing good. The portion size was huge. The drinks were limitless and average. Our trip was on August 9, 2023, our party consisted of 3 adults and 2 minors. Definitely will not recommend nor will we return.Written August 14, 2023
- ash1983s0 contributionsExcellent, relaxing day tripWe were in Costa Maya on a cruise and had a wonderful time at Pez Quadro on a day pass. We bought the all inclusive alcohol package with loungers and a free meals for two. I researched different options before choosing Pez Quadro and I would highly recommend if you are looking for a relaxing beach day with nice warm, clear waters. I emailed beforehand with Alejandro, when I booked and paid cash when we arrived. This place made for great pictures with the swing in the water. They have excursions that we did not take part in but they are available. The staff was so friendly. There were vendors that came around to sell goods and I bought from a few. I didn’t mind them, they were engaging and funny, respectful when we declined. We really enjoyed the food and drinks. I wish I could recall everyone’s names because the staff was very attentive. We would definitely go back if we cruise to Costa Maya again. It was also 10 min from the cruise port, $4/pp taxi ride. No major issues with the language barrier as my bf and I don’t speak Spanish. Definitely consider this as an affordable, relaxing day!Written August 8, 2023
- Kmarkee19720 contributionsLoved Pez Quadro!!We went to 40 Canons on July 16th with our family of 17 on a cruise port day with Royal Caribbean. We had an absolutely great day here! The food was so good and included quesadillas, tacos, and nachos - my favorite meal of our entire 8 day trip! The food portions were quite large. The beach was very nice, the loungers were very comfortable and the shade devices were perfect for those that did not want to be in the sun all day. Our two servers were very attentive and always delivering drinks. Having the All inclusive package worked out well. I reserved online and was able to pay through Paypal which was nice so I did not have to carry that much cash. Easy cab ride to the hotel. Recommend for families, couples, or groups. I wish we could have stayed for 3-4 days. The location, water, beach and service were perfect. Absolutely recommend!Written July 12, 2023
- ahova080 contributionsEven better than expectedFound this location off a tourist review blog. Wow!! So quiet and peaceful. Great service and the food was AMAZING. We had the nachos which were outstanding and then before going back on the ship we ordered the ceviche but requested only shrimp. Came out on huge plate and we devoured it. Best food we had on the trip bar none. Also, if you get a chance get a massage on the beach. 1 hour is 50-60 American dollars. One of the best massages my wife and I have ever had.Written June 17, 2023
- kimkZ953JO0 contributionsWould not go here againThere were mixed reviews on this place but we decided to try it anyway. We were very disappointed. We felt like we were an imposition. Most of the time I would have to track the server down to get another smoothie or drink. And the lunch was more like an American taco instead of authentic Mexican food. I am not super picky and I don't like to write bad reviews but it really ruined our Costa Maya experience.Written May 30, 2023
- 754darlaa0 contributionsGreat day!!!This was a great place and a fantastic day!! The beach is just ok. Brown water. Shallow for a long way out, and seaweed. But, the service was outstanding!!! The place was very clean. The electricity was out for the day, but the hotel did a fantastic job anyway! We had an early docking time. The resort was not crowded at all. It did get crowded later in the day. The place next door was packed, and they kept adding chairs all the way into the water. Our chairs were also much nicer!! The food was sooooo good!!! The shrimp was amazing!! And the drinks were so good. Our waiter and his helper were so great!! I highly recommend this day visit.Written March 27, 2023

We had a great afternoon at Pez Quadro. The staff were more than attentive. Very sweet and looked after us nonstop. Including an unexpected rain shower just as they served us our lunch. They came and rushed our food up the the covered restaurant. When we were ready to head back to the ship, they walked us directly to the taxi and made sure we were taken care of. The water and beach were beautiful also. Have a feeling we will return in the future.

This was my second time to Pez Quadro Beach Club and both times were fantastic. The first time was with my wife, and the second time was solo. The food and drinks are top notch. I got the shrimp fajitas both times. The mezcal margarita was out of this world good.
We found this spot by accident the first time, as we were just looking for the nicest looking beach in the area and an inviting restaurant. PQBC had both. So I went to them intentionally this time and they didn't disappoint.
Luís was my waiter this time and I wanna say he was a couple of years ago as well. The service is at the pace of a sleepy Mexican fishing village, and that's just fine by me. At no point did I feel neglected. One time I did get up from my comfy beach chair (with canvas awnings to shade or give you sun, depending on where you set up) to go to the beachside bar for a drink. Every other time I was able to just catch the eye of an employee and another cerveza was on the way.
The beach has been pristine both of my stays. It isn't more than waist high for a ways out and got up to my chest maybe 100 yards out. There is a wave break even further out where you can see people walking, so it must get shallow again at some point. A police boat patrolled the area frequently. The water was crystal clear and comfortable. First trip I had to dodge a jellyfish or two (I'm not even sure if they were venomous or not) but this time only a few needle fish and a few other species playing nearby. There is a little bit of seagrass, but not much and easy to walk around. There were a few people using paddle-boards that I think they got from the resort.
You can see the cruise ship pier in the distance. It's a 10 or 15 minute taxi ride from that pier. There are vendors selling cigars, hats, etc. that walk by frequently, but they take "gracias, no" for an answer easily.
I like this spot so much that I'd consider coming back without a cruise and just staying here for a bit.

We had such a great experience from beginning to end. Johnny and his team provided such excellent service and my four kids loved ordering fruit smoothies and milk shakes all day! When we were ready to go he made sure we had a taxi to return safely back to our cruise ship. Skip the craziness of surrounding beach fronts and go to Pez Quadro. Excellent service. Excellent beach.

Was here before and had a great experience but this time very little staff and the food was not as good. I have to say we had a massage with them and it was excellent. All and all I probably wouldn't recommend this place.

My wife and I and our two children 11 and 9 visited the resort on a recent cruise. We were the first ones to arrive. We were greeted with a smile. I have to say our servers on the beach were excellent. I never waited more than 20 seconds for a drink. The pico and guac were some of the best I've ever had. The day pass was extremely reasonable. Our servers were Porfirio and Gael and they were awesome! I would not hesitate to go again for a cruise visit or reccomend to friends. The location was also great right on the beach with plenty of loungers and shade available.

Are there water activities that can be paid for at the beach, like jet ski?
