      As advertised, then some
As advertised! From the moment to start the trip to getting dropped off, the experience was outstanding! Our driver and guide (same person) was very knowledgeable, including a few surprises! We plan to use them again!!

      Would Book Again!
This tour was well organized. Directions to the pick up location from the our cruise port were clear and Chino, our guide was very knowledgeable about the culture and ruins. We were also able to stop for a few photos on the way to the ruins. I would definitely recommend this tour.

Small but worthy of a 5 star company!
This was the perfect tour in Costa Maya! Our tour guide was naturally super intelligent and is so passionate about the Mayan culture, and all history in general. The walk to the pickup spot even felt cultural and very safe - and our guides were so happy to greet us even in the pouring rain that morning. It dried up before we got to the ruins and was a perfectly sunny day for our tour. THE RUINS WERE AMAZING. And we even caught some monkeys swaying high above. Go. And go with this company - I much rather a more personable experience when going on excursions and this company knows how to do it best.

Great for a short port day
With a short port stop on our cruise, this tour was perfect! We departed the port around 7:30am for our 50 minute bus ride to Chaccoben. It was an air conditioned coach bus which was phenomenal. Our guide spent about 35 minutes giving us an overview of the Mayan culture. Once we got to the site, we visited about 5 beautiful historical sites. It was mostly shaded and comfortable. The tour was about 1.5 hours long. After a pit stop at the gift shop/food area, we got back on the bus and made it back to port with plenty of time to spare. Would highly recommend. Wear your running shoes & bring a hat if going mid day.

      Scenic and educational
Our tour guide Raphael was relaxed, congenial and well versed in the history of the ruins. We did not feel rushed touring the property and he allowed plenty of time for questions. We appreciated the small size of the group. Ed transported us safely in the van. We definitely recommend this excursion.

      The cooking experience
I’m hoping this was what we did, because mine was tied to Harmony of the Seas and it was 1/8 mile walk to the restaurant. The Maya dancers greeted us, this annoyed my roommate but I wasn’t annoyed in the least. I got a picture with them. My roommate has gone to Mexico extensively, maybe it’s old “news”. Anyway, my cruise friend tipped them and in we went. The foods were laid out , partially cooked. My first items were blackened tomato, garlic and habaneros. They were pulverized in a lava rock type dish. Next, we added pumpkin seed and chives, these got pulverized. Next we dipped tortillas chips into the mixture! Wow! So amazing. Next we were taught to do corn tortillas the old school way. Next we were served small soups with chicken or beef. We learned a virgin mojito. We were all totally full and happy and ready to take on the remainder of the day. 75.00 is a reasonable price and I’d recommend this to fellow cruise passengers.

First every Mayan Pyramid Experience and it was awesome.
The guide and tour were very friendly. I enjoyed viewing the Mayan Pyramids, thanks to the tour guide who explained the history of Costa Maya, the Ruins, and the Mayan Culture in detail. Always carry a poncho with you, it rains often in Costa Maya. And if you plan to take a video recording of the place or professional photos buy an additional ticket for $4.00 at the entrance. At the end of the trip, we also stopped by to taste some honey pineapples. The pyramids are a bit far away so book an early slot to go and come back to enjoy the port or do more activities later.

      An average experience
Everyone was very nice and friendly, but I was overall not so pleased with this tour. Firstly, we left almost over hour late. Then, we made unscheduled stops (at tourist traps) both on the way to and on the way back from the site. So, what was advertised as a 3.5 hour trip was more like 5 hours. Thankfully we were not on a tight schedule! We only saw a small part of the actual site. Our guide have us some useful info and interesting tidbits but we could hear the other tours near us getting a lot more information about what they were seeing and they were a lot more organized. It was very pretty though! They did supply drinks and a snack which was a nice touch.

      Great experience
The crew was amazing we were in a much smaller group than through the cruise which was awesome and the guide was very knowledgeable. We even got to stop in town away from the port to taste some of the local fruit and get a better sense of the culture outside of the tourist port

Fantastic Tour with Ishmael – Highly Recommend!
We had an excellent tour with Ishmael as our guide. He was incredibly informative, sharing fascinating insights throughout the trip. The comfortable, air-conditioned van made the journey relaxing and enjoyable, even in the warm weather. Visiting the Mayan ruins was the highlight of the tour – so interesting and rich with history! Ishmael ensured we had plenty of time to explore while keeping us on schedule. We made it back to our cruise ship with plenty of time to spare, which gave us peace of mind. If you’re looking for a well-organized and enjoyable tour, don’t hesitate to book with Ishmael!

Costa Maya Mexico, Mayan Ruins shore excursion
I was initially concerned by not picking a shipboard excursion and going with Trip Advisor to book one. After reading a couple of reviews, I took the chance. My wife and I and three teenage daughters loved it. This is the way to go! Much smaller group (12) and it was much more personal and saved almost half the price from the ship’s price. Zero regrets! Our guide and driver were excellent. A/C travel van, good English and we even stopped for a roadside snack at a local family’s stand for fruits. We had plenty of time to take pictures ask questions, go to the bathroom, shop inside the ruins location. The ruins location is very well kept and maintained, similar to a resort grounds upkeep. Octavio was our guide and did great and thorough tour. Talked about local animals and trees, Mayan culture, etc. We actually saw a Monkey and couple of Capybaras. The walk from the ship was a bit further than we expected (in the light rain 😆) not really marked. Just when you wonder if you’re going the right direction or if you’ve gone too far, there were a few cab drivers mingling and we asked them directions. They were helpful, we kept walking to the Mayan Ruins replica and our tour was on the back right side of that. Great tour, would do it again and felt very safe.

      Loved it!
Rafael was a great tour guide! We happened to be the only people on the tour that day so he made it very personalized. We went to the same location as people who were on our boat who paid for their excursion through the cruise ship, but they were in a group of 30 people. Rafael had little extras like tasting the all-spice tree leaf and stopping to taste some honey pineapple on the way back that the large group didn't do. We highly recommend!

Great tour with an excellent tour company. The communication of this company leading up to the tour was excellent and they exceeded our expectations.

Very congenial and well informed guide named Rafael collected us from in front of the Cruise ship port and took us on a five hour tour. We visited beautiful lakes and cenotes as well as cultural sights including Mayan ruins. Rafael is fluent in English and is very kind and attentive and is an extremely well informed guide who made sure that we had a great day surrounded by amazing natural beauty as we toured important Mayan Civilization sights.

Highly recommend booking this trip! Ferdi and Hector were great guides. They actually catered the trip to our needs and we got to spend however much time at each place plus added places they recommended. We went to this water park type area by the Bacalar lagoons, venite azule, a ruin by the cruise port. Ferdi was more than willing to help us with anything we wanted. Definitely the highlight of the cruise. Originally thought it was a private boat, but it was a minivan which was fine because Ferdi made sure we had a good time, especially since there were 4 kids. Def recommend meeting up with them at 9 am as it can take an hour to get to the Bacalar area. Don’t buy the ship tours or anything by the port, get this and it’ll be worth your while

This was my favorite excursion out of the 3 days on the Royal Caribbean cruise. At Bacalar the water was calm and clear and great for floating. I would recommend bringing a small floaty for maximum enjoyment.
The cenote azul was beautiful and big. It is very deep so they provide life vests and have a rope you can hold on to. Again having a floaty was great. The restaurant at the cenote was delicious and had a beautiful view. They had one of the best octopus dishes I've had.
I like having the private transportation although the van was basic, nothing fancy. I also liked that the locations they took us to were not busy and I didn't see any cruise people there. I would recommend booking this excursion.

My group of 10 just returned from our shore excursion, Bacalar Private Charter Shore Excursion. I am very sad and disappointed that I suggested this excursion to the group of 10 I was escorting and am glad the others in our group went elsewhere.

The map and instructions were great.

We were offered water and that was nice, but no snacks were ever offered. We got on the van, which was dirty because there was dirty tissues, hair things, and wrappers were left in the back of the seat pockets. The young lady that was our tour guide, Cinemara/Sinemara or something, barely spoke to us. We learned nothing about the Bacalar Lagoon and why it is called the Lake of 7 Colors and never heard about the Fuerte San Felipe Bacalar - we drove past it - not what did it signify, why was it built and who built it. We had some history teachers with us and they would have loved that. Then we went and ate lunch at the Cenote Azul, but know nothing about it - how it was formed, where the caves are, nothing! For the science teachers with me, they were so unhappy.

The driver was very nice and I could usually find him when I needed something, but the guide was often not around. Coming off of two other tours where the guides were VERY interactive, this was really a let down. I feel like we know nothing about your area and we would have liked to learn.

I sent a message to the vendor as soon as we returned to our ship and have heard nothing in two weeks. I don't want others to be disappointed.

Of all the excursions I've done over the years from cruise ports, this was the worst experience. It's a bit of a walk to get to the pick up point, which was fine but when we got there we were bounced back and forth between people since no one knew who was supposed to be taking us. The "guide" didn't speak to us the entire route. We were dropped off on a cold and rainy day, the lagoon was.. rustic...we were the only tourists and they all stared. It was rocky and we quickly left due to the cold (obviously not the fault of the excursion). Next we stopped at a fort in the middle of a city. There was an admission of about $2 that was covered by this excursion. Didn't take more than a few minutes to walk around and then let the kids play at a nearby playground. Next went to a cenote azul which I clearly misunderstood. I thought it said underground river and I was picturing going in a cave ( I could swear there were pics that showed that). Nope. Just a large pond. Freezing cold because the WATER comes from underground. Back to the port early. Again zero conversation from the guide. Biggest waste of money and time. I hate to waste a day on a seven day cruise and this was a waste. Next time I'd stay in port Costa Maya and just relax at a pool. The excursion said it included drinks and fruit from a farm stand. There was bottled water, not cooled. No other food.

We took this excurstion from our cruise the day we were in Costa Maya. We have a family of 6 and it was such a great time! We went to the Bacalar lagoon and the ruins and then the Cenote Azul - they were all beautiful and we had plenty of time to enjoy each one. Our guide was incredible and took great care of us and made sure we got back to the ship on time!

This is by far one of the best excursions I have ever been on. We are a family of 8 with 6 teens. Jimer was our guide and he did everything to make us more than happy!!!! We first went to the 7 color fresh water lagoon. Simple beautiful and we were able to experience the culture (added bonus)! Next we took pictures by some ruins. Last we went to cenote and swam there. Just an amazing experience all the way around!!!!! Also jimer stopped and got us fresh pineapple and bread at a local road market!!!! 100 stars!!!!
