We were greeted by Armando who's the manager and his attention was incredible. He explained everything about Xecue with attention to detail. By far the best winnery in Valle, a few minutes into our tasting experience we were lucky enough to have met one of the founders and he shared with us how they started the business some 30 years ago so they definitely know what they are doing. I highly recommend the calimari and the costillas de res. My group ordered a variety of different dishes and we were able to taste them all. I never write bad reviews and I travel a lot, but I feel is my duty to advise other travelers to NOT book a “tour” with this restaurant/ “winery”.
When we arrived, I very politely asked the waiter that we were there for the wine tour, he said we don’t do tours, I was so confused and asked but we booked one through trip advisor. I thought he was new or he just didn’t know so I was waiting for him to say, let me ask someone else. He didn’t, he just repeated that they don’t do the tour, that they could do the tasting at a table. So I said, let me figure out this first, I’m not sure if I want to stay if I don’t get the tour, after all I paid for it. My friends and I sat to figure out wether to stay or not. Then another waiter came and he was very nice, he explained to us that do to Covid, they couldn’t do the tour in the warehouse but since we already paid they were gonna make an exception and the owner himself was gonna give us the tour, so we agreed and got our hopes back up. The owner arrived with no mask and smoking a cigarette, he took us to the warehouse and gave us the “tour”. It was just a small warehouse with the wine, and he mostly explained the financial aspect of the winery. How much the machines costed, how much the barrels were, how much he save in electricity because he had solar panels, etc. We had to ask questions about the wine and the process. Then we went back to restaurant and were given the wines with zero explanation. They just told us the varietals, no history of the winery or wine. Just plain, this is 50% Cabernet, 50% merlot. Then we asked about the cheese board and the waiter replied with a very rude remark, I haven’t been told about any cheeses. So said, can you please find out. Then the cheeses arrived, and lo and behold, it was just a few slices of Queso Ranchero (a very low quality Mexican cheese). Also, it took forever to arrive, then another cheese board came, and this one was better, it was a board of melted Brie over toasted baguette with mushrooms and olive oil. So that was nice. The wines were not great either. I’m not sure why this place has so many reviews. Maybe the restaurant part is good but we had such a terrible experience.

Xecue is by far my favorite wine tasting place to visit when coming to the Valle, it’s such a beautiful intimate place to come with someone or even family. The food is great the staff and treatment is 100% the best and the view of this place is incredible highly recommend visiting. Also pet friendly!

After visiting multiple wineries in the Guadalupe Valley, Xecue proved to be the top! Everything seemed perfectly prepared and presented. I especially enjoyed the food, which paired wonderfully with all of wines served though out the tasting. Some of my absolute favorite dishes were the Costilla De Res, Tapas De Quesos Brie, and the Jak Sliders. The costilla de res braseada was one of the most tender meats I’ve ever bitten into. You didn’t even need a knife to cut it, and it practically shredded and fell apart itself! The outer crust and inside flavors were insanely good, and I especially enjoyed the fresh mixed vegetables that accompanied it. The tapas de queso were also superb. Upon ordering, you are given three tapas saladas and three tapas dulces. Both were extremely unique from each other, yet complemented each other greatly. I loved the slight notes of honey and basil!! Last but not least, the sliders!! THEY WERE DIVINE!! Made with a sweeter tasting meat, perfect little bun, and delicious goat cheese, these sliders were both savory and sweet at the same time. They paired beautifully with Xecue’s merlot, malbec, and reserva, all of which were my favorite wines served throughout the tasting, especially the malbec.
Along with these three dishes, I throughly enjoyed the winery itself. It makes sense why Xecue is rated #1 on Trip Advisor. The owners, Alberta Ceja and her husband Jose Luis, pay attention to the fine details to create a hospitable, relaxing, and well thought out experience. You’ll feel so welcomed upon your arrival, and leave feeling as if you’re part of the Xecue family. Definitely check out this winery for a high quality experience above the rest! You’ll love it!! I’d give Xecue six stars if I could!

Outstanding afternoon spent lingering at this beautiful, hospitable winery. Ismael explained each of the five wines we sampled pitched exactly right for us, in a relaxed pace. There were a few people there but at no point did anything feel rushed or commodified; instead we were in the presence of real experts with a true love of what they have built here. Jose Luis took time to show us round the manufacturing plant, and through his lovely garden. Food was excellent accompaniment.
Small tip: we ubered up from Ensenada; book in advance for the return trip or risk it being a bit hit and miss. Advantage: you don’t feel like you’re on a rushed tour: disadvantage…you may get stuck. Or is that a disadvantage at all?!

This beautiful winery did not disappoint. Leo was our main sommelier and explained all of the wines so wonderfully, each wine being better than the next. The food, atmosphere, and cactus gardens are all superb. I cannot wait to come back! Thank you for a lovely experience

Stopped by after recommendations from Don Tomas viñedo. Loved the wines and the dessert. Great service by Leopoldo. Only wished they played different music, the slow jazz wasn't the best for the time of day. Overall loved this place!

A truly wonderful experience. The wine is superb! Views are amazing and the owner was just great. The story of each wine and the actual winery itself is one of a kind. I highly recommend this place for a date or a visit with friends. Tons of space, great COVID protocols all in all I recommend this winery.

Great wine flight and cheese board to end the day. The wines were quite good and the recliner chairs were very comfortable to sit and watch the sunset on the beautiful property. This does not include a tour but is a great place to just hang and relax with your partner.

Xecue provided an amazing experience in every way. From the relaxed atmosphere to beautiful views to amazing wine and food, Xecue provided a truly unforgettable experience. Perhaps most notable was the amazing service and hospitality of Alberta and Jose Louise. It is easy to see their experience in the winemaking and the industry as a whole differentiate Xecue among the other wineries. The wine was both delicious and served with thorough explanations. I especially appreciated the tribute to the native people of Valle de Guadalupe. Overall, the lovely staff and location make Xecue a place you will never want to leave.

We had an absolutely incredible experience at Xecue. The location and bodega itself were beautiful and the wine and food were incredible to match. I love their tribute to the Kiliwa people in their branding and the employees did an incredible job of explaining the connection. Overall the employees demonstrated incredible knowledge of product, which I find to be a vital component to any tasting. If you come for a tasting, do not skip out on the food! It is such high quality, our favorites were the Jak Sliders and the Beef Short Rib. In total a lovely venue and experience with friendly employees and high quality food and wine.
