This review is a tribute to Gonkho's amazing work as our guide during our 2-week trip from Xining to Chengdu last July (2020). We are a family of 4 (2 adults, and 2 children aged 13 and 9 at the time of the trip). We contacted him because of all the great reviews he already has, and from this moment on his services were perfectly on par with his excellent reputation. Gonkho definitely knows his business, and is eager to show you all of the wonderful locations of his homeland. He made sure our acclimation to high altitude would go well, and adapted our journey to make the most of it. The latter was no small task: we were in the midst of the pandemic, and the region also underwent heavy floodings while we were there. We cannot thank Gonkho enough for facilitating our whole trip so well in these circumstances. The greatest highlight of our trip was our stay with his family in the superb immensity of the grasslands. Last but not least, Gonkho is super fun to be with, attentive to the needs of everyone, and always has cool suggestions and tips to experience treks and visits to their fullest. Thanks again, Gonkho!

I absolutely loved our driver Namgyal! We went to all the places we wanted to go to, and then some! He was always on time (most of the time early) and his van was in pristine condition! He picked us up in xining, and from there we went to qinghai lake (which is absolutely beautiful) and he found us a place to camp and put our tent without being bothered.
Next we went back to xining to explore and it was phenomenal! We loved exploring the city. From there we went to danxia to see the rainbow mountains and we stopped along the way to play in the snow. Namgyal was a fantastic and safe driver the entire way!
The rainbow mountains were breathtaking along with the temples we saw! I loved watching the sunrise over the rainbow mountains.
From there we went to Jiayuguan and explored the western most part of the great wall and hiked along the mountains. It was surreal seeing all of the differences in topography.
Lastly we went to dunhuang to check out crescent oasis and the sand dunes, along with the first ever stop that Buddhism had in China. That temple was again so perfect. The sand dunes and Dunhuang were again surreal. We felt like we were on a different planet.
Namgyal and Gonkho helped us plan the perfect trip. I couldn't think of anything better!

Great experience in an incredible area : from Chengdu to West Sichuan in altitude.
Nature, Mountains, Grasslands , Discovery, Calm, Villages and great walks : that was we were expected to and we got them ! Organization perfect, Gonkho speaks English and knows very well the area . He knows very well how to acclimatize the altitude . A really nice souvenir of this trip . Thank you Gonkho
