We've been happy there before but we will never come again. Amazingly bad service.
We came for dinner, 4 adults and 3 children. We have been to the restaurant twice before and had an outstanding experience on both occasions. Unfortunately this was about to change. One member of the group ordered the horsemeat steak. When asked how he wanted it done, he requested medium rare but got it well done. There was no waiter in sight so he ended up taking it to the reception. Granted, he got a new and very good steak, but not before we heard the same discussion at the next table. But the next problem turned out more difficult. The children's menu has a rice porridge course with Icelandic liver sausage (lifrarpylsa). Unfortunately each portion was less than a third of a regular children's meal. The porridge was just 1-2 regular spoonfuls and the sausage slice was just 3 tiny cubes. The children ended up eating their fill of French fries from other plates. When we left to pay and mentioned the issue with the children's portion we were rudely told that this was more than enough for many children who came there. We will never come again.

    Excellent.
We had lunch there yesterday. The food was excellent, I reccomend the steak and the fish and chips. Good service and lovely view over Eyjafjörd and Hrísey.

    Friendly staff
Very friendly staff, who are happy to speak English and accommodate GF diet requirements. I didn’t have a beer spa and as the snow outside is about a meter deep I avoided the outside hotpots. Definitely stop in here if your in the Dalvik area.

    Lovely meal
We only had time to have a meal in the restaurant but next time the beer spa is on list. I shouldn’t say only the meal because it’s worth coming here just for the meal The restaurant has a nice atmosphere with smart decor and we enjoy a lovely meal and our favourite Icelandic beer. We will definitely return.

    Unique experience
Opened in June 2017, Bjorbodin Beer Spa is located 30 minutes north of Akureyri in a quiet remote village where its sister company, Kaldi Brewery is also located. It’s an easy drive along a scenic route. The area provides great views of the fjord and mountains which makes it the perfect location for a spa. My husband and I visited in mid September. Probably it’s low season, so when we booked a day ahead, there were still several time slots available. The price of a beer bath (ISK 9,900 per person or 16,900 per couple) is more expensive than the Blue Lagoon base package (ISK 6,990 per person), but it’s very unique and totally worth it. There’s currently only a handful of spas offering beer baths, mainly in Czech Republic, Austria and Hungary (and I believe there’s one in the USA), so how can I miss the opportunity to try one while in Iceland? We arrived early and had lunch (not included in package) in the restaurant on site. Food was good. Then we were led to the change rooms where we undressed and put on a bathrobe. Afterwards, we were directed to our own private room with the big wooden tub of warm beer, water, hops and yeast waiting for us, plus unlimited draft beer available from the tap. After 25 minutes in the bath, a staff member gently knocked on our door to notify us that time’s up. We put on our bathrobes and went upstairs where we relaxed for another 25 minutes lying on the loungers under dimmed lighting. A staff member came by to put blankets on us. There’s only one other couple in the lounge. The whole experience was very relaxing, and my skin felt very smooth after the bath. There are outdoor hot tubs and sauna available for use at an additional ISK 500. It’s best to use the hot tub prior to the beer bath, as guests are advised not to shower for 3 to 5 hours after the bath in order to let the ingredients continue working on the skin and hair. The beer bath can be enjoyed by anyone. There’s no age limit, although children 16 and under must be accompanied by adults. I would love to do this again in my next trip to Iceland.

    Gimmicky but fun
If soaking in beer while drinking beer is your thing, this is the place. It was an unique experience and my skin was super soft! Staff was nice (found my missing hat and were lovely about it). Place was clean and super modern.

    A disrespectful maintenance lady
An overall great experience from the moment we arrived, at the end of our relaxation time the maintenance lady rudely yell at us, to get out of the hottub with false accusations. it would have been a great overall 5 star stars experience given being a 5 hour drive from the Reykjavik without the attitude and restarting the stress right after relaxing. I'm a experience customer service coordinator with 5 + years of experience and would never treat anyone like this.

A beer spa sounds like fun hey, nope, it is a rip-off
$120 for a 20mins spa and a 20 mins “rest” and 2 beers if you are lucky! Come on - surely that is a rip- off.

    Beautiful Spot!
We were traveling through & were excited to find a local brewery. We just had a beer & took in the amazing view.....now I wish we would've taken the time to partake in the hot tub soak! It's really a one of a kind experience you won't find anywhere else! The staff was friendly and attentive, the beer tasty!

    Awful service
I got my parents tickets for this for Christmas and they had a horrible experience. They started going to the outside area and had asked if someone would come and take drink orders outside and the were told to wait outside. No one came. When they asked at the desk they were told they should have requested service (they had done this twice). They were then escorted into the baths and accidentally pushed on the button to open the drain. They rang for service three times but no one came to assist them. They managed to fix it themselves but when they asked about it they were just told they should have pushed the service button harder(?!). The bath for couples is the same size as the individual ones. I should have gotten two individual ones because they barely fit. The beer was way too frothy and gassy, they had dinner there and decided to have wine instead. They told the employees that they had been unhappy with the service and were promised a discount on their meal. This was not provided. Apparently there was a big party there the day before, maybe the employees were tired or hung over. Still no excuse. This is not worth the money.

    Beer & Spa? Yes, please!
One of the main reasons for making a hike to N Iceland was specifically for Bjórböðin. Travelling from Reykjavik along the Ring Rd to Dalvik is an experience in itself, but after much anticipation (and a few missteps with the GPS in finding the place), I arrived just before sundown. The approach to this modern Nordic beer haven was beautiful, and the building itself was unassumingly gorgeous. The spa or 'bath tap rooms' were private, spacious and quite comfortable. While not a big beer drinker, my curiosity was piqued, so after dunking myself in the hops, I poured myself a brew. Beyond delicious is all I can say for the beer. After the bath, the relaxation room upstairs was an unexpected tranquil treat. On recommendation of some other reviews, I didn't rinse off the beer after the bath, and once dry, my skin was indeed über-soft. Since there was time and availability, went for dinner at the restaurant, which not only had a warm and sincere ambiance, but the food was incredible. Phillip (our server), Sofia (the spa) and her colleague were beyond friendly and helpful and accommodated not only our tardiness with the booked reservation- highly suggest making one before going- but were genuinely concerned with our spa experience. It's worth the trip if you find yourself in Iceland.

    Fun experience for beer lovers
It was a very unique and fun experience to dip in their outside tub with spectacular view. We are beer lovers so it was awesome to dip in a tub filled with beer and to have unlimited beers we could drink while in the tub. The facility was spotless and the staffs were very professional and accommodating. We didn’t have a chance to eat there but if we ever get a chance to revisit, we’d love to eat there too. Only regret was that we should have arrived earlier to be in the outside tub even longer and use the sauna. I could have possibly enjoyed outside facilities for an hour or so before going to beer spa.

    Exquisite
Amazing place! We came mainly for the beer spa but ended up having dinner as well. The food was delicious with fish caught very fresh that afternoon. Everything was beyond what we expected. There was a tap of Kaldi beer right next to the tub!!! Go earlier than your booked time and you might just get a tour of their brewery. We did and it was a great experience to learn some of Iceland’s beer history.

You start off in a lovely hot tub outside. It is only a few cold steps and then nice warm water with a beautiful mountain background. Then you go inside and sit in a wooden beer barrel hot tub filled with unfermented beer. They make sure to tell you its beer that is not fully processed and to not drink it. You know they have to tell you this warning because of Americans. There is a tap right next to the hot tub filled with the final version of beer that you are relaxing in. The tap is part of the experience. After that we ate in their restaurant where I had the Icelandic Horse. It tastes delicious! It is better than beef but tastes similar. It was nice to get some real meat like this, as I feel like your only options in Iceland are lamb, cod, and arctic char. None of my family had the heart to eat horse but they were missing out because it was amazing and I still think about how good it was. My fiancé ordered a beer flight consisting of 8 beers with 6-8 oz pours!

We came for the Beer Spa, and enjoyed it quite a bit. It was bizarre bathing in beer, but it was nice for the skin and hair both as well as being very relaxing. The beer on tap in the spa was an excellent plus!
A few downsides though: they did not appear to be taking Covid restrictions very seriously (in the relaxation room after the spa, beds were not 2m apart). The outdoor hot tubs were also closed (apparently due to covid), but we were not notified of this beforehand, so we showed up 45 minutes early intending to take advantage of the tubs but could not. We found it strange that they appeared to pick and choose which restrictions to follow...

We also ate at the restaurant after, and the food was excellent. I had the arctic char, and my wife had the cod. Both were very good and service was also prompt and polite, and not expensive at all given the location (and the country)!

The beerbath it self was okay, got cold very soon, the beer pump next to the bath was not good, always comes foam not beer.
Afterwards we had to pay more for one more beer and soda.
Would expect that they would at least one beer/soda after everything in the relaxing zone, you are paying 10 thousend icelandic kronur for this experience and this is what we get.
The only good thing in my opinion was the relaxing zone outside and the sauna.
Not recommending 👎👎

totally recommend it. the staff was highly polite and helpful, the quality of the service is amazing and everything was really really top quality. it is a bit pricey but once in a lifetime is worth the experience ( around 11.000 isk singles and 19.000 couples- 130 euro)

I couldn't reccomend this enough!
We went there 2 couples, for couples baths.
We had the bus pick us up in Akureyri, the couple that was with us chose to use the outside tubs before the baths, me and my husband enjoyed a beer before going in.

After the baths, we used the infrared sauna but the other couple went to the relaxation room.

After it, we had a table booked.
None of us ordered the same for dinner.
My friends had the Kaldi burger and fish and chips, me and my husband ordered the fish of the day and meat of the day.

The food was perfect!

The guy that was our waiter for the evening was awesome, polite, funny and obviously happy in his job.

We all ordered a whole lot of beer, and we were surpriced by the bill, we expected it to be way higer!

So all in all! Reccomend 100% and we for sure are planning on going again!

We weren’t sure what to expect from a beer spa experience but we loved it. Nice modern clean facilities and a nice wooden tub with early stage warm beer to soak in. It smelled good not like warm beer. And the beer tap to pour drinks while soaking was excellent!!

Just way overpriced for what you get. Ok, so it’s fun to soak in a tub of beer but for that amount of money? Because that’s just about it. I like Kaldi beer but not the blonde variety that came out of the tap. No choice was offered. The quiet room was a joke. The attendant covered my legs with a sheet - no foot massage as was mentioned in the description. Then one couple talked the entire time - not particularly conducive to meditation. The attendants were perfunctory - just doing their job - did nothing to make the experience special.

I had not heard of soaking in beer before, and could not pass up the experience. Oh, this is good. You have your own private room and they fill up a tub with warm beer. There is a tap with cold beer that you can drink while in the tub. Soaking in this beer was so relaxing. This was so much fun. After that, you go into a relaxation room (no beer). They have ‘beds’ set up, you lie down, they massage your feet a bit and cover you up. There is relaxing music playing and you rest there in the dark for 25 minutes. By the time we were done, I was so relaxed and my skin felt amazing. They have an outside regular hot tub you can soak in after if you want, but we did not do that. We got some tea and a piece of pie in the restaurant to transition before we got back in the car. It was great!
