- MariaL101260 contributionsJambiani women's tourI had Jambiani women's tour with Ameir. It was very interesting and informative tour, deeping in the different aspects of the traditional women's life in Zanzibar village. And the personality of the guide adds to the tour even more pleasantness. Ameir is very knowledgeable person with a great respect and carry towards old ladies of the village, and he is also extremely friendly and added lots of joy to the tour. I spent the wonderful time during this tour. Thanks so muchWritten November 9, 2020
- MiraM9330 contributionsMy highlight in ZanzibarI lived in Zanzibar for just over a year and this was one of the highlights of my entire stay. Ameir is a wonderful guide and the women we met were just fabulous! It was so interesting to learn about the traditional work that women in the village do. We learned about seaweed farming, how to separate the coconut fibre and make coconut rope out of it, how to make a doormat, and how to make traditional fencing out of palm leaves. Be prepared to be put to shame when making coconut rope, the mamas make it look so easy but it's SO hard!!Written July 8, 2020
- Erinbussays0 contributionsAn incredible journey looking at the lives of the women in JambianiAmeir is a very smart, incredible young man. His tour is so informative and important to do! You often see the men and what they do throughout the village but it is rare to see and know about the women and their role. These women are incredible and do so much for their village and for a living, they are so important to the community and Ameir’s tour really allows you to see inside the life of these women. You not only get to walk around the village and experience the different things these women do, like harvest sea weed, make cocunut rope, weave baskets, make roofs out of palm tree leaves, make henna, etc. But you get to experience it first hand and try for yourself! You even get to see the different ways and meanings of how they wear their kanga. The women are very kind and welcoming and you feel nothing but a sense of home in Jambiani. If you are going to be in Zanzibar I 100% would suggest taking Ameir’s tour! He really makes it special, it’s one of the best tours I’ve done.Written March 11, 2020
- Sandracpotter0 contributionsA brilliant insight in to the villageAmeir took us through the village explaining to us how the women made a living. We watched as women cultivated seaweed, made baskets. We "helped" make rope from coconut shells, learnt how to wear a kanga and much more.Written February 27, 2020

While walking trough the village, we learned all about the seaweed plantations, coconut shells and how they make their product from it. Ameir also showed us the Kanga (fabric) the women wear and told us about how wearing it can symbolise their activity or express their feelings. This tour is definitely worth doing if you want to get a taste of the culture here.Written November 4, 2019
