        Overpriced trip to sellers island
Overpriced trip with alot of salesmen on the island you go for lunch. The lunch was ok but everything is extra. Went to the three and took a picture of a cocnut crab and one of the guys there insisted that i had to pay for taking the picture. I told him to go …. Yourself. All the other people there felt thretend and payed up 5 dollars each for the pictures. The snorkeling was disepointing cause the visability is low, but if its your first time snorkeling is an ok experience i guess. The guide and the boatguys was cool people tho. But again, overpriced!!!

Lots of opportunities for getting in the water!
Full day trip. Swam at a sandbar, snorkelling x2 stops ( pretty good coral and fish but Blue Lagoon better if you only have time for 1 trip ) and swim at mangrove area. Great BBQ lunch and time for more swimming if you wished. Don't be put off by the number of people in each boat as you arrive, you spend most of the time in the water / on the beach. Everyone very friendly and it was well organised

Unsafe and not with a proper guide onboard!
This was a complete rip off. The guide from Zan Archepelago Tours and Safaris met us at our hotel and walked us to a local boatsman, who then took us out to the sad turtle island, where one gets the feeling that it's not really a sanctuary - it's a poorly kept petting zoo. The so-called "guide" that the boatsman had with him, had very limited knowledge of English, and the two had nothing to do with Zan Archepelago Tours. I could have paid 1/10 of the price directly to the boatsman, if I had wanted a plain haggling tour like this. I am super disappointed and had a very unprofessional experience, where our bench broke due to high seas and I also had to insist on them bringing life jackets for us! Once we started the boat trip, they realised that only one jacket was functional. They borrowed equipment for us through another boatsman. All in all a complete haggle and a complete fraud. Don't go on a boat trip with this company if you want a professional experience, that's for sure.

        Highly recommend
My boyfriend and I spent 5 days in Zanzibar and loved it. We went on two days of tours with Zan Archpelago Tours. We booked the first one through TripAdvisor and our guide was Ishmael. He was fantastic - super knowledgeable, personable and fun. We booked the second tour with this operator via WhatsApp because we couldn’t find an existing itinerary that covered everything we wanted, so this tour operator prepared an itinerary based on our specific preferences. Ishmael was so great that we requested him again for our second day. All the activities were so well organized and a lot of fun. Highly recommend Zan Archpelago and specifically Ishmael.

        Amazing Zanzibar with Ismail
I have wanted to visit Zanzibar since I was a kid. We got to do it this summer. I contacted them via WhatsApp and created a custom itinerary including stone town tour, Nakupenda and Safari Blue. Ocho was our driver from the airport pickup to airport drop off. What a great driver. What an amazing trip. It was as planned and Ismail was our guide and it was perfect! I would highly recommend Ismail and the team. Don't hesitate, Do it !

        Not the best experience
The guide did not explain the history of prison island well. After verifying with Google it seemed the story was incorrect. We were left at the tortoise place alone while others had a guide. It felt as if we did not have a guide. Our tour was also shorter than expected - 3 hours we finished in 2 hours. No mineral water was provided and snorkeling was only proposed after we asked.

Experience the spices and fruits on this mini tour
I have not been to the spice farms around Stone Town but being on the East coast, this place was the closest. A quite modest plot but contained many many examples of the spice and fruit grown in Zanzibar. It took around 90 minutes and ended with drinking fresh coconut ant being presented with woven palm adornments 😃We were knowledgeablely guided around by our guide and his two understudies. Interactive with lots to taste touch and smell.

Amazing trip to Prison island and I Nakupenda island
We booked a day trip to prison island and to Nakupenda island (sand bank). We paid extra for a transfer from our hotel near Kendwa Beach to stone town which was $80 including return. The boat took us to both islands. The tour guide at Prison island was very informative and helpful we also got to feed the tortoises. We went on to Nakupenda island which was beautiful ! where they prepared use a beautiful BBQ lunch which tasted incredible and we got to swim and take pictures. Definitely worth the money and was affordable. The staff was very friendly and helpful :)

        Absolute BEST Walking Tour EVER!
We were so impressed with our guide, Mady’s deep and broad historical grasp of Zanzibar, its people and culture. Our favorite stops were Darajani market, and the old fort, as well as hanging out at Jaws Corner.

        Walking Stone Town
The tour guide, Ismael, was friendly and knowledgeable of the history. However, it is advisable not to take the tour at 16:30 as it run approximately 2 1/2 hours not 3 hours. Moreover, in the late afternoon/ evening, many of the vendors in the fish and spice markets had closed their workstations and the slave trade exhibit had also closed. Nonetheless, Ismael, made the time enjoyable.

        Worth going!
Turtles are definitely worth going to see, you get to hand feed the them too! I just wish they were looked after better. There was piece of plastic and rubbish scattered amongst their food on the floor.

Start of tour was good. Pick up at our hotel, drive to spice farm in a good car, explanations of spices were interesting.
Then the tourist show started, singing in trees, wanting tips for all small things, very expensive soaps and spices to buy... Lunch was OK but too early (11am).
Then boat trip to Prison Island. Turtles are nice to see and you can also touch them. But the rest like the "prison" is boring. Very overrated Island. We didn't go swimming and snorkeling because the sea didn't look very nice and there were no fish to see.
Stonetown tour was OK, but short. Old slave market and the museum were interesting.

Hello Giving the clients the real value of their money is basically our intention. In fact, we supposed not to be blamed about the swimming or snorkeling cases because of the Ocean if the ocean didn't look amazing is out of our control while, all is about weather. We are deeply disappointed and very sorry for that. To keep it in net we really thank you for the feedback thoroughly appreciated. Stay safe and connected what a nice have a good day.

We had two amazing tours with the best guide Ismail. He went above and beyond to make sure we were enjoying ourselves to the max, was very punctual & reliable and his energetic, happy personality really took our tours to the next level. He’s extremely knowledgable, obviously loves what he does and was very keen to share all of Zanzibar’s beauty with us. Our driver Thomas was great too, always strictly on time and we even went out together a few times, which was great fun. Nothing but great vibes from this top team!

Eshmiel met us at our hotel and we began with a tour of a spice farm. The experience was seeing not just spice but also fruit plants and trees. Eshmiel was very knowledgeable and able to answer all of our questions. In the end we were able to sample the spices and fruits as well as see some demonstrations. After the spice farm we went on a walking tour of Stone Town. Learning alley navigation skills was very helpful. Of particular interest for us was walking through the large market with Eshmiel as he explained what we were seeing along with walking through the fish and meat sections of the market. We then took a boat to Prison Island. The first part was an explanation of the history of the island. We then had an opportunity to feed the tortoises. They were everywhere. Eshmiel showed us how they would stand up and raise their head for photos when rubbing their leg. Then a boat ride back to Stone Town and a guided trip back to our hotel.

It was a long and fun day. There is no way we could have done this by ourselves and we had a fun and knowledgeable guide. A very good value.

I learned so much about Zanzibar and Stone Town during this tour in one single day. Spice Farm tour was pretty comprehensive, the lunch and the fruits were super delicious. My guide, Ismael, was very knowledgeable on anything about Zanzibar and Tanzania. After the spice farm tour we went to Prison Island. White sand beach and crystal clear turquoise water were heavenly. There is also a very large tortoise sanctuary on Prison Island where the world’s second largest land turtles live and visitors are able to walk around them and feed them. It is a pretty unique experience.. Stone Town tour was also very detailed. It was so nice to learn about Zanzibar’s history and architecture while strolling on those narrow streets that were pouring with people. All in all, I highly recommend this activity to anyone who wants to learn more about Zanzibar and get immersed in the culture.

My guide was Mehmet and he was good. He studied history in university and it shows. We started off on time from my hotel and walked to the Stone Town. He sat me down and gave me a perspective of the history of the place before we embarked on the walking tour. The walking tour itself was around 3-4HRs and went from one end to the other. The tour ended at the taxi stand and we took a comfortable drive to a local spice farm business. There we walked around for about an hour and took the car back to Stone Town beach side. Here Mehmet said goodbye and I took the boat (covered by this tour) to Prison Island. There, I met with Abdelkader, another guide who walked me around the island for about an hour, There were tortoises, and lots of tourists. After that I took the same boat back to Stone Town beach area and went back to my hotel.

This tour is excellent for getting your bearings of the area in a day. It is also affordable, lunch is covered and all transportation too. I would recommend this tour gladly to anyone who is looking to spend the day among friendly locals and eat local food. Well recommended!

We started our day with Spice tour. We had the chance the see and taste a good bunch of daily used spices and fruits, never seen before in their original state. Farm guide was very knowledgeable and fun to be with. Lunch was excellent!!! In overall a great experience, everyone in the farm was friend and fan to interact. Before we leave, we were visited by red monkeys, as a bonus. A must do.

Then we went to Stone Town, where we met out guide Mady. Not only he is knowledgeable, but he is genuinely interested and well read about history of Zanzibar and beyond. We had an excellent introduction on Zanzibar and Stone town history and a great discussion. Then we started our walk of the city where apart from the historic details, Mady shared some excellent tips on eating and shopping in the town.

Finally we visited Prison Island. Although we understand that is a tourist attraction, we did not find anything interesting about it. At some point the whole island and its building was transformed to hotel and restaurants, which are closed now. All the buildings were unattended in a derelict state. Also, the tortoise seemed exhausted from all the patting and massaging of the tourists.

In total, the tour is well build and a good package for a full day. Everyone is very knowledgeable and friendly and we really had a good time.

Only complain I have for the tour operator is that they list House of Wonders and People's Palace Museum in their itinerary, although these site are closed for public since 2020. (House of Wonders collapsed in 2020 and People's Palace Museum is a work in progress).

Ismail was a great guide during our trip. His extensive knowledge, warm demeanor, and ability to keep us entertained made the experience truly enjoyable. The visit to Jambo Spice Farm was a highlight, allowing us to compete to guess spices by smell and sometimes taste (even if our guesses were often wrong). The hospitality of Mr. Cappuccino and the thoughtful gifts of plant/flower jewelry added to the day.
Walking through Stone Town with Ismail's local insights into its history was fascinating.
The visit to Prison Island became even more memorable with Ismail's paparazzi skills, capturing moments we'll treasure. Special thanks to the ferryman, Pole Pole Jack Sparrow, for dropping us off at our hotel's waterfront on the way home, it saved us a long walk in the heat.
This tour provided good value for money, offering a fantastic blend of experiences.

So glad I booked this trip! My tour guide Hamad was fantastic. We first started with touring the spice farm, followed by Stone Town and then Prison Island. He did a great job answering my questions and knowledge about the history and interesting things about Zanzibar.

We even hung out after the tour chatting a little bit before he gave me some tips on navigating the night food market. Would recommend booking for a nice and affordable way to see the main points on Zanzibar.

Full-day adventure of hitting Zanzibar’s most iconic parts!! As first timers in Zanzibar, this tour was a great way to learn about the history and culture as well as see some of the island’s most unique areas. We got to see the spice farm, of course, but also walked through the markets of Stone Town, stopped for coffee/drinks at a beautiful rooftop bar, and even took in some of the sights and sounds of the night market to watch the sunset. This was in addition to the obvious tour activities. Ismail was very knowledgeable and accommodating, and our driver, Asad, was great too. Ismail took the time to inform us of everything we wanted to know, answered all the questions we had, and was open to catering the tour to our interests/needs, as well. Also, they are very responsive. We stayed in Paje and needed transportation to Stone Town. They responded to inquiries quickly and were very easy to work with on logistics. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Zanzibar!

The Spice Farm, Stone Town and Prison Island Tour was amazing because we had the best tour guide, Ahmed ( aka Madi). Make sure to request for him! Not only was he very knowledgeable, attentive, and patient, he was also willing to make stops for our convenience. He also took so many lovely pictures and photos of us! He is so friendly and smart!
