Fabulous day trip with a brilliant tour guide

What a fabulous day tour we had with Zan Archipelago tours. A full day with spice tour and the most incredible lunch, unfortunately we had a big breakfast before we arrived, so don’t be like us as it’s really tasty! Ismail our guide was friendly with a great sense of humour and fantastic knowledge of the island, spices, fruits, turtles, history of stone town. He made sure he kept us in the shade as much as possible as both my husband and I are prone to burning. A full on day to fit everything in but we’ll worth it. The Turtles were gentle giants and we loved learning all about stone town as it’s steeped in history. We highly recommend this tour and this is one of the best rates for a full day tour on the island with the best guide and air conditioned car to ourselves.

Must-have experience in Stone Town Zanzibar!

Couldn't have thought of a better way to discover Stone Town and its area in Zanzibar! Mady is an awesome tour guide, who will go above and beyond to make sure you discover the history of the island and the town, meet with local artisans; he's fun, easy to talk to and loved to talk about history, which was awesome for me!
This organized tour makes for a great full day, first with a fun visit to a Spice Farm (try and guess some of the spices... You may not always get it, but that's the fun part! + you get to eat there), and then, the guided tour of the city, finally ending with an excursion to Chengdu Island where you can see (and feed) centennial turtles.
I recommend 200%, definitely worth the price and the experience! Asante sana Mady !!

Ps: and to think at first I wasn't considering a stay in Stone Town... Yes, the beaches are calling, but I definitely recommend spending this full day in Stone Town!

Awesome tours with Zanzibar’s best guide!

We had two amazing tours with the best guide Ismail. He went above and beyond to make sure we were enjoying ourselves to the max, was very punctual & reliable and his energetic, happy personality really took our tours to the next level. He’s extremely knowledgable, obviously loves what he does and was very keen to share all of Zanzibar’s beauty with us. Our driver Thomas was great too, always strictly on time and we even went out together a few times, which was great fun. Nothing but great vibes from this top team!

Good Value, Very Good Day

Eshmiel met us at our hotel and we began with a tour of a spice farm. The experience was seeing not just spice but also fruit plants and trees. Eshmiel was very knowledgeable and able to answer all of our questions. In the end we were able to sample the spices and fruits as well as see some demonstrations. After the spice farm we went on a walking tour of Stone Town. Learning alley navigation skills was very helpful. Of particular interest for us was walking through the large market with Eshmiel as he explained what we were seeing along with walking through the fish and meat sections of the market. We then took a boat to Prison Island. The first part was an explanation of the history of the island. We then had an opportunity to feed the tortoises. They were everywhere. Eshmiel showed us how they would stand up and raise their head for photos when rubbing their leg. Then a boat ride back to Stone Town and a guided trip back to our hotel.

It was a long and fun day. There is no way we could have done this by ourselves and we had a fun and knowledgeable guide. A very good value.

Excellent Comprehensive Tour

I learned so much about Zanzibar and Stone Town during this tour in one single day. Spice Farm tour was pretty comprehensive, the lunch and the fruits were super delicious. My guide, Ismael, was very knowledgeable on anything about Zanzibar and Tanzania. After the spice farm tour we went to Prison Island. White sand beach and crystal clear turquoise water were heavenly. There is also a very large tortoise sanctuary on Prison Island where the world’s second largest land turtles live and visitors are able to walk around them and feed them. It is a pretty unique experience.. Stone Town tour was also very detailed. It was so nice to learn about Zanzibar’s history and architecture while strolling on those narrow streets that were pouring with people. All in all, I highly recommend this activity to anyone who wants to learn more about Zanzibar and get immersed in the culture.

Dont miss this one..a good experience

My guide was Mehmet and he was good. He studied history in university and it shows. We started off on time from my hotel and walked to the Stone Town. He sat me down and gave me a perspective of the history of the place before we embarked on the walking tour. The walking tour itself was around 3-4HRs and went from one end to the other. The tour ended at the taxi stand and we took a comfortable drive to a local spice farm business. There we walked around for about an hour and took the car back to Stone Town beach side. Here Mehmet said goodbye and I took the boat (covered by this tour) to Prison Island. There, I met with Abdelkader, another guide who walked me around the island for about an hour, There were tortoises, and lots of tourists. After that I took the same boat back to Stone Town beach area and went back to my hotel.

This tour is excellent for getting your bearings of the area in a day. It is also affordable, lunch is covered and all transportation too. I would recommend this tour gladly to anyone who is looking to spend the day among friendly locals and eat local food. Well recommended!

Perfect for First-Time Visit to Zanzibar

Full-day adventure of hitting Zanzibar’s most iconic parts!! As first timers in Zanzibar, this tour was a great way to learn about the history and culture as well as see some of the island’s most unique areas. We got to see the spice farm, of course, but also walked through the markets of Stone Town, stopped for coffee/drinks at a beautiful rooftop bar, and even took in some of the sights and sounds of the night market to watch the sunset. This was in addition to the obvious tour activities. Ismail was very knowledgeable and accommodating, and our driver, Asad, was great too. Ismail took the time to inform us of everything we wanted to know, answered all the questions we had, and was open to catering the tour to our interests/needs, as well. Also, they are very responsive. We stayed in Paje and needed transportation to Stone Town. They responded to inquiries quickly and were very easy to work with on logistics. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Zanzibar!

Would try another tour for this price.

Start of tour was good. Pick up at our hotel, drive to spice farm in a good car, explanations of spices were interesting.
Then the tourist show started, singing in trees, wanting tips for all small things, very expensive soaps and spices to buy... Lunch was OK but too early (11am).
Then boat trip to Prison Island. Turtles are nice to see and you can also touch them. But the rest like the "prison" is boring. Very overrated Island. We didn't go swimming and snorkeling because the sea didn't look very nice and there were no fish to see.
Stonetown tour was OK, but short. Old slave market and the museum were interesting.

Hello Giving the clients the real value of their money is basically our intention. In fact, we supposed not to be blamed about the swimming or snorkeling cases because of the Ocean if the ocean didn't look amazing is out of our control while, all is about weather. Ahmed (Madi) is THE BEST TOUR GUIDE!

The Spice Farm, Stone Town and Prison Island Tour was amazing because we had the best tour guide, Ahmed ( aka Madi). Make sure to request for him! Not only was he very knowledgeable, attentive, and patient, he was also willing to make stops for our convenience. He also took so many lovely pictures and photos of us! He is so friendly and smart!

A perfect day's excursion (despite the rain)

This was a great full-day experience. Don't let his laid-back style fool you - Mady was a fantastic, really knowledgeable guide. We were never rushed from place to place, and he was happy to answer any questions we had. What initially sounded like a tiring itinerary ended up being a really great day's experience. I would definitely recommend both the tour company and having Mady as a guide.
