Mady was fantastic! Great and knowledgeable about stone town. Would have preferred to have had Mady for entire experience (prison island and spice farm) !

Very good trip - well worth doing if you're in Stonetown
Boarding the boat would be tricky for someone not very steady on their feet and the trip over to the island was a bit choppy due to the weather - worth bearing in mind if you suffer from seasickness. But apart from those minor issues, it was a great trip. The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The history of the island is interesting and he presented it well. It was our first day in Zanzibar, and so it was our first sight of their gorgeous turquoise sea - beautiful. The tortoises were huge and fun to feed. One of them (accidentally) bit me, I think because his eyesight was not great, and it drew blood, but it's fine as long as you stick to using large enough leaves. The snorkelling afterwards was very good too - we had plenty of time in the water and saw quite a lot. There are better snorkelling spots around Zanzibar though (e.g. Mnemba island) so if you only have time for one snorkelling session, think about doing it there instead.

    Prison Island & Stone Town
It was a very nice journey with Nouman. We went to Prison Island by boat and enjoyed every little thing. We had our lunch at Mercury's bar and then we went to the old Fort and wandered in stone town.

Excellent guide, very informative and enjoyable!
Our guide Mady, was superb! He was friendly, unbelievably knowledgeable, helpful and adaptable. How we managed to learn all of Stone Town/Zanzibar’s complex history in three hours, I do not know! Thoroughly enjoyable! Thank you!

    Great tortoises, otherwise "meh"...
It was quite an amazing experience to feed and pet giant tortoises. And the views were beautiful. But the rest of the visit was nothing to write home about. Not worth 60 dollars pp. Find a local to take you there for (probably) cheaper, if you haggle.

Lovely simple enjoyable trip. Must do while in Zanzibar.
Absolutely wonderful trip. The boat trip across from stone town to prison island in itself is a really cool experience. Bumpy waves and wind make it scary but thrilling! The fresh breeze and amazing views from the boat are meditative. You jump off the boat on the shores of Prison Island to the view of turquoise waters and white sand. You go up onto the island property to delve into beautiful a tortoise sanctuary , peacocks and baby antlers also can be spotted. The hotel here is home to a dark history and learning about it is very interesting. This trip has something for everyone to appreciate. Kids enjoy walking around and feeding and playing with tortoises. I recommend this trip it’s a very refreshing yet simple experience

    Excellent From Start To End!
I led a group of 10 U.S. journalists and friends, and this was one of our planned events. Everybody agreed that it was an excellent experience from start to finish. Amiable, knowledgeable tour guide with an equally excellent assistant. The lunch they prepared for us and served at the end was one of the best meals we had during our stay in Zanzibar, and we all bought some of their coffees, teas, soaps, and other personal care items when we were given the opportunity at the end. This was worth probably twice what it actually cost. We highly recommend it. When I return, this will definitely be on the itinerary again. We went in the latter of June, arguably the best month for weather in Zanzibar. Warm but not hot and humid.

    1 star for overall experience
We payed through trip advisor for the trip almost 220$( 2 persons), wich we tought that would be ok. Right after someone local wrote me that I should pay 70$ more for the taci, because is too far from the meeting spot, with a mention here that nothing regarding this was in the advertised tour. Also, we tried to cancel it, but it wasn’t possible, because we booked the trip with 10 h before it. Also, I did not manage to get help from tripadvisor, so, another draw back. The tour was decent, bank sand, snorkeling spot, good grilled food and baobab tree, but it was very crowdy duting the whole tour. There after we discussed some fellow tour mates we found out that the tour costed them around 100-120$ ( 2 persons) so we payed 170-190$ more than the other. A total disgrace! 0 stars, Highly not recommended!

    A walking experience
I loved how knowledgeable our guide was. Mady (guide)answered all our questions and gave us a rich history of zanzibar and Tanzania. Wow! I would definitely recommend this tour for those looking to gain something more.Walking through the streets of stone town felt like you were transported to another time. What I especially liked was their abiltity to customize our walk so we ended at our dinner spot AND they arranged transport for us from Numgwi. You can't beat that:) Thank you Mady!

    Awesome experience with Mady!
Mady was incredibly knowledgeable and personable. We appreciated his guidance and he went above and beyond to ensure our group had a great time. The food on the spice tour was particularly delicious! Great way to see some of Zanzibar's highlights.

If you are into trees and their scientific names , then it's OK. The tour consists in a walk in a damp, small forest, a short bridge along mangroves (all similar ones in the world are better and richer) and a stopover to see 5 (really 5 and no more) cute monkeys. Spice farm: again, walk around few plants badly kept, surroundings not nice. It's an experience that can be added in a visit to Zanzibar, but I don't believe it can be called great.
