About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- annarQ3691HW0 contributionsStone Town Tour ReviewGreat tour! We got to see all the important sites in Stone Town such as the old market and the Slave Trade Exhibition Site. Our guide even went the extra mile and took us up to a 360 viewpoint of Stone Town. All our questions were patiently answered. If you want to try local sugar cane juice, he knows the best places!Written January 2, 2025
- GreatAfricasafari_tz0 contributionsA Must-Visit Natural Wonderland! If you're looking to immerse yourself in Zanzibar's natural beauty, Jozani Forest is a must-visit. As the island’s only national park, it offers an unforgettable experience, blending lush greenery, wildlife, and a tranquil atmosphere. The walk through the forest is serene, with the canopy offering welcome shade. The highlight of the tour is undoubtedly the chance to see the endangered Zanzibar Red Colobus monkeys. These friendly creatures are a joy to observe as they swing through the trees. The knowledgeable guides are fantastic, providing interesting insights into the forest's ecosystem and the conservation efforts in place. Aside from the monkeys, you’ll also encounter diverse plant species, mangrove swamps, and other wildlife. The forest is well-maintained, and the paths are easy to navigate, making it suitable for all ages. Don’t forget to take your camera – the scenery is breathtaking! Jozani Forest is a perfect escape from the beaches, offering a peaceful and enriching experience. Highly recommend!Written December 24, 2024
- Margret V0 contributionsGreat experience!Loved the forest walks and the blue and red monkeys of Zanzibar. The Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park is a 50 km² national park in Tanzania located on the island of Zanzibar. The forest features an abundance of unique Zanzibar red colobus monkeys… The blue monkey is the Sykes’ monkey - also known as the white-throated monkey or Samango monkey. That is an old world monkey named after English naturalist Colonel William Henry Sykes (1790-1872), and has a large white patch on the throat and upper chest, and a grizzled (not blackish) cap.Written December 10, 2024

He guided us walked through all the heritage sites of stone town, explained all the histories to us very well. I would recommend to you when you visit Zanzibar.Written September 29, 2024
- Michael K0 contributionsSaw monkeys up close, with additional forest and mangrove nature walksVisiting the Jozani Forest requires you to hire a guide. Your experience will depend on the quality/enthusiasm of the guide with whom you happen to be paired. The tour encompasses three separate portions which require a drive from one to the next. You start with a short walk through the forest around the check-in site. The path was well-maintained. Our guide stopped occasionally to point out various plants with traditional medicinal uses. We did see one monkey during this part. Across the main road down a rugged dirt road to a different part of the forest with a more grown-in walking path is where you can see the red colobus monkeys. We saw at least two dozen, old and young. They seemed unperturbed by our group’s presence and came within a meter of us, but kept to their own business jumping around and eating leaves. There were plenty of opportunities for photos. Driving further down the dirt road takes you to the mangroves. There was a sturdy boardwalk and here our guide explained about the monkeys as well as the ecological significance of these plants. Seeing the monkeys was memorable, but the other parts didn’t add much. Hard to say whether the fee of $12 US is worth it for the 1.5-hour visit.Written September 14, 2024
- toniay0 contributionsRubbishA waste of money. Dont waste your time or money. Unless you want to see Columbus red monkeys desperately, this is a waste of time. You walk 10 minutes, look at the monkeys. Then 10 more minutes for the mangrove. They charge you $12 entry fee plus the transport.Written August 13, 2024

Great experience! We learned a lot and saw and tasted many different spices and fruits. People in the farm were very welcoming, we got some accessories made out of palm leaves and flowers and saw how they climb a palm tree and open a coconut. We bought some spices there as well.

The tour was great! Our guide Sylvia (Sauda) was knowledgeable and made the tour fun by including an element of competition - who could name some of the many plants we checked out. There was an opportunity to purchase some spices and coffee, but no pressure to do so and the ride to the spice farm and back was smooth, clean and comfortable with AC.

Interesting tour to learn about the production of spices and how some involve all different parts of the plant. Our guide met us right on time. We took a private van to the spice farm. You will also have a local ‘farm’ guide along the tour once you arrive who will make you beautiful plant/flower adornments, so be prepared to give him a tip ;). There’s also opportunity to purchase items along the tour, but unlike other reviews, we did not feel pressured to buy.

My husband and I did the spice tour and it was great. Driver was on time to pick us up at the hotel.
It was good to link the spices we use on regular base to the plants where they come from: vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon, black pepper etc.
Amina, the tour guide was great.
Thank you

A nice place to see in Zanzibar, it has plenty of spice trees to look at.
Our guide and his accomplice put in great effort so we understood, as we sometimes hit a language barrier. Interesting to learn, how the spices are produced and used.
Overall a nice experience.

Visiting the spice farm can be a super interesting and fun learning experience. We tasted different fruits, smelled and tasted various spices and even had the opportunity to see the artisanal and natural products created with spices/teas. A morning very well spent with a guide speaking in Spanish. Transportation was also provided by the tour organization.

It was a great experience. Even though he was late for pickup (totally normal here in Tansania) he informed us beforehands, which was nice. The car was nice and the AC worked well. The tour itself was very interessting and informative and we loved that we could tast what ever we wanted to.
I would recommend this tour to every food lover out there.

If you are looking for a reliable, chill and knowledgeable guide, Saif is your guy! We have used his services for transport and for visiting a spice farm, during which he provided a ton of information and surprised us pleasantly with his flexibility, relaxed vibe and a great sense of humor. On top of that, his prices are very reasonable. All in all a great experience, would definitely recommend!

I booked a full day spice tour and wasn't disappointed. I was taken to a spice farm near Stone Town in an airconditioned car and was shown around there where I could learn a lot about the spices and fruit growing there. At the end I received a simple lunch, water and fruit.
