About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Penny W0 contributionsProfessional and well organisedWe have just returned from a very special holiday in Tanzania and Kenya co-ordinated and hosted by Ranger Safaris. We were greeted at Kilimanjaro airport and transferred to Four Points by Sheraton hotel … this wouldn’t have been our 1st choice of hotel as it was very corporate and town centre in location however after a very long and tiring journey it was clean and comfortable. We were met by a lovely lady from Rager Safaris, Jessica, who ran through our itinerary she was very professional and made sure we understood our meeting times for the following day’s. Issa our wonderful guide collected us the following morning and our wonderful adventure began … he quickly understood us as a group and cottoned on to our unique sense of humour…something very important when you are to spend several days in close company with a group. We drove to our 1st fabulous location Manyara Lake View Oasis, brilliant choice given time for a super lunch and relax by the pool we were collected and taken for our first game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. Issa proved to be interesting and informative. We have all been on many safaris and he is a very good guide. The following day we set off through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to the Serengeti… it was a very long hard journey however it was so worth it when we got there and Issa ensured we had the right amount of comfort breaks.. the last part our journey turned into a spectacular game drive with fantastic sightings of Lions Cheetah’s and Elephants… again Issa proved to be exceptional. We arrived Angeta Serengeti Camp another really good choice of camp with amazing tented accommodation we had 2 nights here and it felt like home. We had two full days of game drives the 2nd day Issa had tailored specifically for us to avoid the really hard road that we had arrived on to take us back to our last stop the Ngorongoro Crater such a wonderful spectacular place we stayed at Ngorongoro Serena a lovely hotel again a lovely choice from Ranger Safaris. We had two further nights before returning to Arusha to a really lovely meeting point the Coffee House this also seemed to be a hotel… it looked really wonderful we had a great lunch here said a fond goodbye to Issa our amazing guide and met up with lovely Jessica again she introduced us to our driver who was returning us to the airport. Our whole experience was wonderfully well organised any assistance was readily available and Ranger Safaris obviously have a wealth of experience Thank you all so very much definitely 5 stars xxxWritten November 20, 2024
- H8261ZGchriss0 contributionsThe Best There Is In The Safari Game! There really aren’t sufficient words to express the overall success of this safari trip! Every step of the way my family and I experienced attentive, understanding staff and the accommodations throughout the trip were truly phenomenal. First, let’s talk accommodations. I didn’t know what to expect as this was my first time ever being to Africa. But in both the coffee lodge and acacia farm lodge locations, I was stunned at the quality! I’ve stayed in hotels in the USA that were far inferior. To boot, when staying in the Tarangire and Serengeti national parks, we stayed in tents that rivaled any tent I’ve ever stayed in! The facilities at the Nyikani camps in both parks were truly first class and made the trip even better. Second, let’s talk food. I have had far worse meals at popular restaurants back home, and I don’t think it could have been any better. We ate like we were fine dining every breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food combinations were delightful and delicious. Even when dining in the camps in the national parks, the meals were fantastic. I was very impressed! Finally, the reason for the trip in the first place: the safari. Holy cow! We did game drives in the Tarangire, Ngorongoro, and Serengeti national parks…and we saw everything we had hoped to see! In particular, I want to mention our safari guide, Issa, who made the entire event excellent. He clearly knew where to find animals of interest, and he understood from the very outset just what was important to our group and made sure it happened. We not only saw all the “Big 5” animals, but we got to get good photos of them as well. Issa made sure we saw everything we wanted to see, even predators on the hunt and with kills. He was especially accommodating of my 91 year old father, adjusting our game drive times and durations to allow for him to be more comfortable. In the end, I simply can’t express how grateful I am for this trip, and how effective Ranger Safaris was at pulling off a highly successful experience for my whole family. I would STRONGLY recommend them in the highest terms possible. If you’re considering an African safari in the future, you better be looking at Ranger Safaris. You’ll thank yourself so the way home!Written November 19, 2024
- E9773FIjons0 contributionsMzuri sana! Great safari experience! The trip was great! Issa was our guide and safari driver. He helped us find all the animals so we could get great pictures. He knew so much about the plants, birds and animals and could answer all of our questions. We went to Tarangire, Ngorogoro crater and Serengeti. It was a great experience! Really enjoyed it and would recommend this trip to everyone.Written November 19, 2024
- mattsP619RB0 contributionsAmazing Safari experience with Ranger Safaris (Great Safaris)We are on the last day of our November 2024 Safari that has taken us through Tarangire, Manyara, Ngorongoro crater and Serengeti national parks in Tanzania 🇹🇿. There is clearly much coordination that must take place to pull off an amazing safari vacation for us from other parts of the world. We are four brothers and our 91 year old father on our first African safari. From the pick up at JRO to the night stays at the coffee plantation in Arusha, Nyikani bush camps, and Acacia Farms. The transitions were flawlessly executed, the accommodations safe and clean, and the staff well trained in customer service. There are two particular standouts… 1) The staffs at the Nyikani camps were punctual, polite, and the meals were magnificent; in fact, I created a new category “Magnificent” when rating the meals at on the Tarangire Nyiakani performance evaluation. I will do likewise for the Nyikani Serengeti camp staff. Ranger Safari chose well to coordinate our nights’ stays at Nyikani camps. 2) Issa the safari director and driver. Issa attended to our needs well. He quickly found out our definition of a successful safari and worked to meet that goal throughout. The roads in the parks are rough and wore us all out after several hours and especially my father. I was touched at Issa’s thoughtfulness to adjust length of game drives and rest times to meet my father’s (BABU) needs. Our goal that became his was to get great picture opportunities of each of the big five. I thoroughly believe that he would have felt truly disappointed had we not achieved that goal. Safari Ranger is lucky to have Issa and should lock him up with generous contracts as a safari guide. Such a move would assuredly bring additional business. Thanks to Issa, Nyikani, the staffs of Acacia Farms, coffee plantation and Ranger Safari for a very successful vacation. Asante Sana, Matt SnellWritten November 19, 2024
- T4722IIterris0 contributionsAn Amazing AdventureWe just came back from our second African safari. Issa from Ranger Safari was our tour guide and driver for 6 days out of our 16 day journey in Tanzania. His knowledge of Tarangire and Ngorongoro history, wildlife and vegetation was beyond impressive. There wasn’t anything he did not know. He had a kind of six sense as to where the animals were and what they would do next. We saw lots of zebras, lions, wildebeest, impala, buffalo, giraffes, elands, kudu, hippos and many more lesser known animals. He was flexible tailoring the safari to our interest, yet exposing us to extraordinary places we could not imagine existed. He was on top of our schedule, very organized, making sure we had everything we needed every day. Very accommodating with my picture taking too. He made it all about our experience. He was extremely polite and an interesting person. It was a pleasure to be with him for 6 days. I highly recommend you ask for Issa when you plan your trip to Tanzania.Written November 16, 2024
- jasonhT3423HC0 contributionsIsrael is the best guide everOur safari with Israel as our guide was truly the trip of a lifetime! Israel’s kindness and attentiveness made every moment special. He took care of every detail, ensuring we were comfortable and fully engaged in the experience. His knowledge and expertise were incredible, and he seemed to have a sixth sense for finding all the amazing wildlife of the Serengeti. From majestic lions to elusive leopards, Israel’s keen eye and deep understanding of the area brought the magic of the Serengeti to life. Thank you, Israel, for creating unforgettable memories—we couldn’t have asked for a better guide!Written November 3, 2024
- richardmP1661JV0 contributionsAmazing trip with a brilliant companyEverything we got from Ranger Safaris was amazing. The trip was booked through Trailfinders in the UK. All the transfers were well done and all the staff we encountered were friendly and warm. Our guide Mathey was a lovely guy and was a font of knowledge on the animals. He took time to understand what sort of animals we wanted to see and made sure he found plenty. The drivers all work together really well to make sure that everyone sees as much as the can during their safari. I do not think we could have had a better experience and the company were a large part of that. I could not recommend more highly.Written October 19, 2024
- mickdruid20160 contributionsTanzania 4 reserve SafariSafari to 4 reserves. We were a party of 8 in 2 vehicles. Our guide was Solomon, with Kerry,Nicki and Stewart in our vehicle. Godson was the other guide with David and Arlene, Ken and Gina. Both guides were exceptional, and tried every way for us to have a good safari. They didn't disappoint us at all, we saw all of the big 5, and more. If we ever do another Safari with this company, I would try and get either of these 2 guides. 5 ⭐ plus. Could not have wished for a better Safari.Written October 14, 2024
- prhightrees0 contributionsA trip of a lifetimeThrough Trailfinders, we did the Simba safari. Having read reviews, we were really looking forward to going. We had come a day early due to long flights (I don't think you need the extra day as the first day is meet and greet and rest till the next day after lunch) Our guide, Sylvister was ( everyone says about their guide) the best. He was charming, funny, and knowledgeable, and nothing was a problem. We had a lovely group (5 if us), which, along with our guide, was great for animal spotting. As mentioned in other reviews, roads are very rough at times. We visited a Massi village, which was interesting, but be prepared for a very hard sell of trinkets at the end and the obligatory donation to "school uniforms" when the children sing for you. The wildlife is amazing to see, especially so close at times. An unforgettable tripWritten October 13, 2024
- chrisandhelenfry0 contributionsExcellent SafariWe did the Simba Safari booked through Trailfinders. We were met at Kilimanjaro airport and taken to Forest Hill our first of 5 lodges which were all very good. Our guide Lickie was excellent, wise, calm and great at spotting wildlife particularly birds. We saw all the main stars animal wise and had a fantastic experience. Some of the travelling was lengthy on rutted roads but as long as you are aware of this it was fine. Lickie was sensitive to our needs, waiting until we were ready to move on when taking photos and always trying to get the best spot whilst being respectful to others, when viewing wildlife amongst other vehicles. Timekeeping was excellent and we were always fully informed of travel arrangements. Thoroughly recommend.Written October 9, 2024
- judithrr20230 contributionsGreat fun as I am getting older. This tour was so fabulous. I felt so safe on it. I was hesitant at first, but quickly found out that it was safe. I have always felt safe with Colette tours, and this tour re-enforced my feelings. Since I am close to 80, safety was a great concern. Aside from the amazing animals and views, my tour guide, Issa, was very observant and knew the area and animals very well. He quickly became aware of all his passengers and their individual needs. My needs were quickly recognized and accommodated. I highly recommend this tour and our driver, Issa, also.Written October 8, 2024
- Dreamer8010740 contributionsA stunning experienceI booked the Ultimate Tanzania Safari with Ranger Safaris via Freedom Destinations as a solo traveller. On arrival at the first hotel in Arusha I met up with 5 others who were to form our party. Our guide/driver, Morrisey, did a fantastic job. He asked us all what we hoped to get from the trip and expertly managed the spotting of the Big 5. In addition to spotting all the animals Morrissey, was very informative and knowledgeable on all the animals we saw. Some of the memorable highlights included:- watching the Lions feeding on a recent kill, a Leopard casually walking past our vehicle only a few feet away, a lone Cheetah standing on a small knoll surveying the surroundings, a Serval and 2 cubs and a huge male Elephant feeding on berries a few feet away from us. There was a little trepidation from some of the ladies when some Baboons clambered onto the back of the truck whilst the roof was open. The Martini shaker or ‘African massage’ needs to be experienced to understand it but is all part of the vibe of visiting the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro reserves. It also helps that the group was made up of like-minded friendly travel companions, which made for a really memorable safari experience. All the accommodation provided throughout was to a very high standard offering a good range of food and drinks as well as exceptionally helpful staff. The only downside was the vehicle. The Toyota Land Cruiser is probably the worst possible vehicle for such a trip, lacking in power and comfort.Written October 7, 2024
- nickwN5590WX0 contributionsSimba Safari TanzaniaMy wife and I booked this trip to celebrate our wedding anniversary and her birthday and it didn’t disappoint. Our driver, Morrasy, did a fantastic job in spotting all of the Big 5. Highlights:- watching the Lions feeding on a recent kill, a Leopard casually walking past our vehicle only a few feet away and a huge male Elephant feeding on berries a few feet away from us. The ‘African massage’ needs to be experienced to understand it but is all part of the vibe of visiting the Serengeti and the Gnorognoro crater reserves. On our driver and guide, Morassy, he was excellent, accommodated any requests we made, and drove skillfully and safely, whilst also being very informative and knowledgable on all the animals we saw and numerous with it. It also helps if you get paired up with likeminded friendly travel companions, which we did, so all in all a truly memorable safari experience. We can highly recommend Simba Safari with ARP Africa Travel and Morrasy if you are considering a safari in Tanzania.Written October 4, 2024
- Chocopie50710 contributionsSimba Safari TourWe have had a wonderful safari experience and could not have wished for a better guide than Morassy. He was friendly, welcoming, and had an amazing knowledge of the area and the wildlife. He found all of the best spots ensuring we got the best views of the animals and birds. He was extremely knowledgeable and patiently answered any questions. He made our experience very memorable and extra special. We saw over 80 different types of animals and birds, including the big five (Lions, Leopards, rhino, elephant, buffalo). We saw Lions eating their kill. Got to eat a picnic lunch watching a sleeping male Lion and ate breakfast at a waterhold full of hippos. We have had the most amazing time and would highly recommend it, but don't forget to ask for Morassy to be your guide! We enjoyed our stay at every hotel, Serena Arusha, Tarangire Sopa Lodge, Serena Lake Manyara, Serena Serengeti, Serena Nrongoro Crater. All staff have been friendly and the food has been excellent throughout.Written September 26, 2024
- Hampshirerose10 contributionsTanzania national parks Tour 2024We used Ranger Safaris as part of our tour around the Serengeti, Ngorongoro crater and Manyara National Park. We were met on arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport by our guide for the week. We were lucky enough to have Laizer as our guide. He was very polite, caring and extremely knowledgeable about the animals, areas and the driving conditions. I wasn't very well for few days and he made sure I was drinking enough and checked up on me throughout the day which was appreciated. He even took us to the local shops for a chemist and the bank when we needed supplies and money. We stayed in various hotels and camps during our week with Laizer and got to know him well. The roads are busy and very uneven but we felt very safe. Laizer was fantastic during the safari's, getting us in as close as possible to the animals without disturbing them. The land cruiser was comfortable and spacious (there were only 2 of us) with great views when the roof was open. There was always a supply of water to drink. We has a briefing with a lady called Witness before we left our first hotel to go over the itinerary and to answer any questions we had. I would definitely recommend using Ranger safari's if you are planning a tour of Tanzania and the national parksWritten September 25, 2024

I think the other reviewers were correct when they said the boat ride to and from the island were the best parts. The water is a beautiful colour and you get nice shots of the island and Zanzibar. The prison is kind of lame - I did a guided tour - I wasn't really told much and it doesn't seem like any of it (open to the public at least) has been maintained for historical accuracy. The turtle enclosure... well it's not as bad as some of the other reviews make out, there is a bit of space for them to roam around, the younger turtles are segregated in pens - these aren't particularly great. On the way out, locals will try to get you to "donate to the turtles" - this is a scam, apparently this money is taken by them. The beach looks nice, albeit small. I mean, if you have nothing to do then I guess go? Otherwise, you aren't really missing much.

I was there twice, and would definitely go again. Excellent place for swimming/snorkelling, mesmerising ocean views from what was intended to be a prison, great fun interacting with those giant tortoises! It doesn't really matter which guide you decide to go with, the program is the same for everybody.

This is a good tour and worth the time. The giant tortoises are unique and the history of the place is interesting. The children traveling with me all fed the tortoises some lettuce. I saw a lot of fish and coral while snorkeling. Note: the snorkeling is off the boat, not the shore. Someone may find it difficult to climb back up the short ladder to the boat.
Juma was our guide and he was very friendly and attentive.

Our host for the tour was Ahmada. He was excellent, great customer service and very knowledgable. We were collected from our hotel and returned as part of the cost and the island itself is a must see if you are travelling to Zanzibar! I would highly recommend this trip and ask for Ahmada if you are going. 5*.
