    Vila do Maio is the gracious capital of the island and the tour will walk from start to finish. Our eco-guides will make you live a journey through time (life seems to have stopped here in the 50s and 60s). They will show you the most emblematic pieces of history (the church that dates back to 1872 in Baroque style and the Fort Sao Jose in particular that dates back to 1800 and was built against pirate attacks) and the places you might need during your stay (bank, supermarkets, telephone card shop and much more). Do not miss the walk along the nature trail of the salt pans (once the fulcrum of the island's economy) which, thanks to the sunlight, offer fascinating plays of color.
