      Would Avoid
I had read multiple places that this was the best guide service to go with but I was very disappointed in the guide. I had indicated when I booked that I was an experienced climber just looking for a guide to show me around and belay for me. When the guide arrived, he never asked me what i wanted to climb or climbing level. I had to try to explain to him what I would like to climb etc and there was some difficulty due to the language barrier which is partially expected, but I wish there was better communication between the company and the guides. The whole time was made really difficult by the inability of the guide to communicate well. Throughout the morning, I had to check my guide on multiple safety items and was very glad about my extensive climbing experience. There were no safety checks on his side, and I had to constantly be the one to check both his and my systems. If I was a newer climber, I would be very worried to have him as my guide. As a company, they need to work on their guides communication and safety.

      Do not recommend - avoid
I booked a half day climbing trip with them via their website and email. I also needed accommodation - which their website led me to think is A Secret Garden. Prices on the website were established - super ex but I thought it was worth it given the write up of giving back to the community and the owner was supposed the author of the guidebook here. Well. In short, the real owner left. Sold his shop and accommodation. The two places are no longer affiliated. They didn’t clear up that lie on the website. The guide was old, lazy and not really wanting to climb or belay. I had to share him with two others despite paying a steep price (I didn’t mind, made more friends). At check-out, I was told to pay way more than the price on the website. Then they explained in broken English about the lack of affiliation. DON’T TRUST THE WEBSITE; don’t trust anyone from the shop or the accommodation. There are plenty of other accommodations that offer climbing guides. Or there are other climbing guide shops. Shop around for your options. Climbing is long established in Todra - every climbing guide I met claimed to have climbed for 20 over years there.

I don’t like to leave a bad review but I had a really bad experience. I am an experienced climber, but travelling with my wife who doesn’t climb, so had planned to come and do a day of multipitch climbing and organised this some time in advance. I was told to arrive at 8am, my guide turned up almost 2 hours late and had a back problem so couldn’t do any route I wanted to, just offering to belay single pitch climbing. No other guide was available. People get sick/ill and perhaps they didn’t tell the company but I was left unable to do what I wanted to do. I had pretty poor communication from the company the day before and on the day. Hopefully this is a one off situation but I would strongly recommend you confirm exactly what you want to do and that they can provide this before. coming to the gorge. That said, the gorge looks amazing and sure it would be good to climb the big routes, perhaps some other time.

Following my arrival on Todra, I had no equipment to climb. I went to see the manager Sliman who offered me for an excessive price to go with a climber who does not seem to have a great experience... Finally I met Mimoun Goali with whom I climbed long routes with good equipment. Thanks to Mimoun for his professionalism and honesty. I therefore do not recommend Aventure Verticale Maroc.

      Perfect
Julio knows every detail about every route on the Gorge. Having his knowledge when choosing where to climb makes everything easier, safer and much more fun. I can't recommend him enough - he is just the heart and soul of rock climbing in Todgha Gorge

      Climbing was tip top!
Julio was helpful and provided useful advice and recommendations on where to stay and where to climb. The climbing was a lot of fun and there is a wide range of routes for all levels of experience. Would highly recommend!

      Fantastic Climbing in Todgha Gorges
My college and I did two really nice multi-pitch climbs on Jardine de Ete the Tik sab and the Qui L'eut cru?. Since we were only in Todgha for one day we rented most of the equipment from Jose but did not use his guiding services this time. I have climbed with Jose before and he is a really good and experienced guide that gives you good guidance and advice. The climbing was super-nice even though we had some quite bad time management and walked down the backside of the mountain in total darkness...

      Family Climbing Holiday
Upon arrival in Tinghir we were collected and warmly welcomed by Juilo and Emma, they took us to a beautiful traditional Moroccan lodge in Todra Gorge where we felt welcomed and with such a friendly homely atmosphere we had a fantastic start! The next day Juilo provided all the climbing gear and found crags to suite all of our climbing ability. he is a fantastic instructor and went well above and beyond our expectations. He showed a keen and sincere interest in couching our 2 boys and gladly shared his expertise. The whole climbing experience was extremely good, and very flexible (appreciate this!) and for that they deserves a special thanks. The 3 brothers who owned the lodge in Trodgen Gorge were such warm personality and prepared wonderful traditional meal for us every evening after a hard day climbing. Youssef is a highly motivated Host and took the time to show us around Tinghir (recommendable!). I truly enjoyed walking around the markets, local carpet manufactures and eateries. The atmosphere in his lodge is so special that it really felt like home to all of us. All respect for Yousser and his brothers who does a great job there; a true sample of excellent tour guide! Many thanks again and I recommend Julio and Emma to everyone!

      Extraordinary experience
I came to the gorge for the purpose of climbing. I am still a beginner but eager to climb outdoors and experience a multi pitch. Julio and Emily gave me this chance to learn and feel safe and comfortable to do it! They both shared so much knowledge since they are experts of the sport and the area! They offered so many climbing tips which made my experience even better! This company is very professional. Julio has a major input to the entire gorge and takes pride for his work yet very humble to share his happiness with people. Highly recommended. Guaranteed to be satisfied :)

      Climb ON!
Although we did not officially do a tour with AVM, we had experienced Julio’s wealth of climbing knowledge, hospitality, and help. So much so that I can confidently say anyone booking his tours would also feel the same. He has all the climbs’s nuances and their grades memorized. Our Todra Gorge climbing experience would have been a south -180° without him! So we are super grateful for his and Emily’s help, lessons, and hospitality. Can not recommend him enough. Hope he comes to visit the states for my friend and I to show him the Gunks!

Amazing multi-pitch climbing in Todra with Julio
Had two fantastic days climbing in Todra with Julio. My first time multi-pitching, he taught me all the techniques clearly and practically, made me feel completely secure. He also organised excellent accommodation for me. He is the expert on the gorge having written the topo guide! Highly recommended!

Julio was by far the best guide! He went above and beyond in helping with everything making the trip smooth as.
Amazing location, incredibly stunning, peaceful and charming. The climbing was top notch, accomodation and food perfect and the transfers to and from Marrakech easy as. We did an awesome hike and explore along with the rock climbing with Julio, loved it!

      Great fun
Our teenagers were clamoring for some action after some hours in the car. With a fairly long drive ahead of us to Merzouga, how could we say no? Communications with Julio beforehand were good, but we couldn't maintain our schedule very well. We eventually stopped in unannounced and they set us up with a guide and gear. The gear was fine and in good shape. The guide was 17, the same age as one of my kids! But it worked out fine. The Via Ferrata is not terribly difficult, though you wouldn't want to fall on the rocks - they are fairly sharp. As someone else noted, it may be more dicey descending from the ridge. A highly recommended and fun activity in Todra Gorge. Bill

      Challenge yourself
If you drive to the Todgha gorges, why not challenge yourself by doing some via ferrata? Unfortunately we arrived 1 hour after the agreed time (our mistake) and our original guide was scheduled for other guests. But Julio’s team solved the problem and arranged another guide. The via ferrata and gear were in good shape. The way down from the via ferrata was more dangerous. It was a very nice experience.
