The bar selections were extremely limited. Next to no mixers, and only Red wine. Also, there was no photography. Other then that it was great! amazing views, and great band !! This concluded our quick get out of Manhattan for a day journey. The captain and crew were more than accommodating and provided an oral tour of the history of the Hudson and its origins, that added more value to the experience. We both enjoyed our time and felt very relaxed on our trip back home. We look forward to the next one.Written October 27, 2024

We went on a rainy and cold weekday in September. Most of the other passengers were part of large groups. Many of these passengers were elderly or had special needs and the crew was very helpful, kind, and patient helping them down the slippery gang plank. The groups were boarded first so they had first pick of seats.
There wasn’t much to see during the cruise other than two lighthouses and a couple mansions that were partly hidden by trees. On a nice day, it would be nice being out on the water. On a cold and rainy day, it wasn’t that great. If we had it to do over, we would have waited to buy our tickets until after we
saw a weather forecast.

We've lived in the Hudson Valley for many years yet never thought to take advantage of Hudson River Cruises. The ship leaves from Kingston NY and offers a very pleasant and informative cruise on the Hudson River, especially nice during the summer months. Onboarding and offboarding was very smooth and they had a snack bar with a large variety of snacks and drinks. We all thoroughly enjoyed this cruise and staying afterwards for an al fresco dinner in Kingston.

The cruise goes past a number of historic buildings and sites along the river south of Kingston with "just right" narration. It was just a sampler though and now I want to visit each of the mansions and historic sites. A highlight for me was spotting a huge sturgeon leaping out of the river in front of the boat!

We were really excited about the Hudson River Cruise that we booked. The concept sounded great because of our interest in the history of the area.
The boat was a bit crowded, and we wound up at the stern. The engine noise overpowered the narrator to the point that we could not hear/understand much of anything that was said.
A written/digital resource could have compensated for the problem. It was not an expensive ticket so I would have paid more in order to actually hear the explanations about what we were seeing. (The views were beautiful, and Kingston is rich in history.) I did find, after the fact, that there is a narration on the website. Perhaps a downloadable, audio tour with GPS would have worked for the actual cruise.
If you go: Get there early and position yourself near the speaker/s if you want to hear narration. If you are only interested in the ride and views, I still suggest NOT being at the stern. TOO loud. Also, bring coins for the parking meter. We were unprepared for "coin fed" meters.

We went on a two hour cruise down the Hudson. And it lasted two hours to the minute! First, the boat: three levels, an open top deck under a central roof, ample seating and space to walk, then a middle deck which is open on the sides but more sheltered than the top deck. Lots more seating there but hardly anyone used it. Then a lower deck, fully enclosed in case the weather really got bad. Carpeted and looks like a ballroom. Fully furnished drink and snack bar, restrooms, everything you need.
The captain made rounds twice during our tour, introducing himself and asking each person on board if everything was to their satisfaction. Above and beyond what was necessary. Very personal and professional.
The cruise takes you down river, past two light houses and many turn of the century estates. Fully narrated, explaining everything you see. Lots of history!
Staff was professional in every way. Fellow patrons were polite. Families with children were fully engaged and well behaved.
I highly recommend this tour. You won't regret it.

I joined the foliage cruise on the Hudson last Sunday. Due to COVID, the capacity has been greatly reduced. The boat was sold out. It was a fun 2 hours enjoying the fall foliage and listening to the narration of the rich history in the region. The outside was nice, but got too windy for me after a while. There's food and drinks on the boat. The bottom deck was heated with large glass windows. There was also a staff there playing the guitar and sang for us. I truly enjoyed my afternoon with Hudson River Cruises.

The boat was very nice. We sat on the first floor and it was very comfortable - the weather was chilly, but our area was heated. The bathrooms were spotless. The cruise was lovely. The scenery was beautiful, the narration of points of interest were very informative, and the boat sailed so smoothly you hardly felt like the boat was actually moving. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed the trip and would highly recommend it!

Sailed on this beautiful ship. While on the Hudson, I was able to view a variety of beautiful homes and two lighthouses. The narration is just enough to keep you informed without being a nuisance. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and a snack bar for light refreshments and snacks. Highly recommend this to anyone wanting to enjoy beautiful scenery in a relaxing setting.

We took this cruise in mid September. We waited in line an extra 20 minutes to board as they kept announcing engine trouble and they were waiting for a part. The cruise was uneventful, not many people aboard, but there was a large family group who were speaking loudly and interfering with hearing the commentary. The cruise was supposed to include the Vanderbuilt Mansion, but turned around at the Mills Mansion. In short, it was something to do in the pandemic time, but nothing to get excited about.

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful evening watching the sun set as we cruised the Hudson River. Soul City was the name of the band that was playing as we enjoyed our cruise. They were great and many people were up and dancing!

I can only speak for the Rip Van Winkle: one boat at 11, and that was on Sat of Labor Day weekend. After Labor Day? Weekdays? You are going to have to look up Hudson River cruises out of Kingston.
