- Happiness177173819000 contributionsUnforgettable moment in SaharaVery organized, and full of fun! The guide and the driver were nice too. We enjoyed from the beginning to the end. We know that if we reserve the tour after we get to Tozeur, there are cheaper options but it worth paying that amount. It was comfortable, well organized, no stressWritten June 20, 2024

- MikeTittensor0 contributionsIncredible immersive experienceThis was the most perfectly organised and implemented tour I have done. My wife and I are in our late 50s and not in the most athletic of condition. We loved it. So what do you actually get? 7 nights at good quality 4* hotels around the country. Breakfast and dinner buffet meals. Lunch on the road. Skilled drivers of comfortable modern landcruisers. Expert tour guide who knows his own country and wants to explain it to you. Entry fees to sites. Excellent range of historical, cultural and geographical experiences. There are some serious WTF moments in this tour! For me the tophet of Carthage, the Bardo Museum, Dougga’s THIS.IS.ROME. temple of the Capitoline Trinity, the Kairouan mosque, the sunset in the Saharan desert (yes, its worth the 4 hour trip through the sand dunes.), the alien landscapes just…yes. Now the downside points: 1. This requires a lot of walking and an element of fitness to enjoy. You don’t have to be an athlete but there are lots of steps. A fat, white guy managed it. 2. The drive into the desert is also challenging. 3. If you are a pale white guy like me, beware the sun. You must wear a hat. Screen up. 4. The food is plentiful and good quality but your gut bacteria may not be friendly with the locals. Bring Imodium or equivalent. I lasted until Day 5 before too much harissa intake got me (and i like spice). 5. Drinks are extra, payable at the hotel. There is a sort of beer, Celtia, available and some very good red wines, (e.g. Mago) but we mostly stuck with bottled water. This is an Islamic culture and not all restaurants have alcohol. Oddly, diet drinks are also rare. The water is fine. 6. Information Overload! To me this was completely new. A strange alien world. By the time you’re standing on a sand dune that you have previously only seen in Nat Geo images, well, your head will be so full of data that you will feel stunned. I am quite serious. This is a fully immersive experience. 7. The insects bite. Make sure you have repellant and antihistamines. As long as you do, you will be fine. General recommendation: It’s ok. You don’t have to buy a carpet unless you want to. ;-) There are shopping opportunities along the way but not high pressure ones. Tipping is welcome and reasonable. The general principle of giving to non-aggressive beggars is also a nice thing to do and appreciated by the locals. Horde your small notes and coins. This is an Islamic culture. Their culture, their rules. Dress modestly where needed. My wife kept a headscarf in her handbag so we could visit some of the special places. Their beliefs and opinions won’t necessarily match yours but that’s why you’re here isn’t it? They’re nice people. If you don’t speak Arabic, touch up on your French. Very useful. I cannot praise Saharan Sky highly enough for this experience.Written April 22, 2024

It's a magical moment. To do once in your life. In the evening it was cold, we were able to grab extra blankets from the other tents. Don't miss the sunrise and sunset and the magnificent starry sky...

THEY DO NOT MEET WHAT THEY OFFER!!! a disaster... we went yesterday June 14th. We hired the excursion from Djerba to the desert. The itinerary said that we would visit the cheerful markets of Douz, and everything was closed because it was siesta time. We had 3 hours waiting in a plastic chair. They told us that in those 3 hours we could have rented extra camels or quads. We precisely took the 4x4 excursion because we were not interested in the others since we were going with children and my 70-year-old father. Then, the itinerary we hired said that the return trip would take us to Matmata to see the Toglodyte caves. We were excited about that visit. That never happened... when I made the claim on the trip we already had. They told us that we could tell the driver to come back... we were more than an hour away from the place and we couldn't waste all that time going there and back because we had to take a later plane. Everything would have been fine if they took us to the place we hired in the itinerary. They sold us rides through cheerful markets and it was closed. They took us to a place to wait 3 hours in a waiting chair, where if you don't want to consume quads and camels you are just sitting there with the wind and heat of the desert. The 2nd day of the itinerary promised a stop in Matmata which we were eagerly waiting to do and they did not deliver.

I would like to do your tour on 6/9 (assuming that there is a space) but I need to go back to Tunis on 6/10. I know about flights from Gafsa or Tozeur airports but they are all booked. I am thinking of hiring a cab. Can you help me find one at a reasonable price?
Written May 22, 2019
Hello, Please email us for a private transfer quotation. Thank you.
Written May 22, 2019
If I arrive at Tozeur Airport at 4 pm, can I still participate in the tour?
Written May 22, 2019
Hello, Since you arrive at 4 pm and need 2 hours transfer from Tozeur to Douz, we recommend staying overnight in Douz in a hotel and starting the tour the next day in the morning. Thank you.

Hi there! I'm very interested in this tour, but its difficult for me to find information about transportation from Tunis to Douz. Do you know how this is possible? Or maybe you could suggest a different airport to travel to from Frankfurt to make things easier. Thank you! Anais
Written February 3, 2019
Hi Anais,
Thank you for your interest. You can arrive to Douz from Tunis by bus (SNTRI), otherwise, you can fly from Tunis airport to Tozeur Airport (we can arrange pickup from Tozeur for an extra charge).
Regards.
Mia
