About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- paulabT7824HD0 contributionsScammedHi my husband and I went to the Statten island area and were approached by a what we thought was a nice fella. We didn’t have a lot of time, maybe an hour and a half. We feel that our seller was very dishonest! We paid $113 for a cruise. He assured us that it was an hour. A shuttle bus would take us. By the time we did the big walk to the bus it was already 3.47. Got to the pier and was told the ferry was at 5 and it would take 2 hours! Plus the shuttle back. We had to leave as we had an apt to make. So money gone and no tour. When we got back he was nowhere to be seen! Iv emailed lots of times to the address on the ticket and to no avail. Be careful of these dishonest people.Written November 21, 2024
- Josherin6150 contributionsSpent More, Experienced LessPLEASE READ BEFORE YOU BUY! If you're looking for a pass where you're actually able to choose each of the items that you want to do without issue in Washington DC, this isn't it. It looks great from the outset, until you realize that for the night monument tour, you have to arrive the morning of in person in order to be added to the tour and can only be added if there's room. However, anyone buying the bike monument tour online through the company can request it anytime in advance ONLINE. We were there for 7 days and EVERY DAY it was SOLD OUT. The Washington Monument, a classic visiting place, except that it also sells out, closes for potential storms, slight mist, possibility of wind, etc. Each time we tried to go, it also was not available. So all in all, we were able to use 3 of the items given, however, this did not in fact save us any money. We still spent over what those would have cost for our family of 5. Reviews have also listed numerous things that were included with their pass that are no longer included or were not included the summer of '24. Make sure you check their website BEFORE you buy to make sure it makes financial sense for you and anyone you're going with.Written September 29, 2024
- D4486TEmattl0 contributionsDO NOT BUY - Awful Customer ServicePurchased the pass and proceeded to Arlington Cemetery as advertised on the SightSeeing Pass App for the guided tour. Nobody turned up and none of the staff knew anything about it. Tried to call, and it was a NY number that just kept ringing. Raised a query via x.com which they ignored. Sent various emails that initially went ignored, then they said they would investigate and come back to me, then they emailed back to suggest their website and app shouldn't be used for information as its unreliable. They basically wouldn't do anything! so a one day pass half wasted because their tour didn't operate. Their customer service was HORRENDOUS! There are a few options for City Tours, i would try another as Sightseeing Pass are awful and really don't value their customers.Written September 28, 2024
- 697edithz0 contributionsTerrible customer serviceWorst Customer Service I have ever experienced. I wasted $151. I bought a six attraction tickets. I planned to do three in one day and scheduled according to time and distance. The information of some attractions were not up to date causing my scheduled to fall apart. That day I only saw one attraction and wasted my time and Uber money going to attractions that were either closed or have a different tour than the one advertised. I called Sightseeing several times and after long waits, when I finally talked to a representative the call were "disconnected". That happens three times in one day so I do not believe those calls were "disconnected" but they just hung up on me. Mi several emails were totally ignored too. Months later I got an email saying that "due to a larger-than-average volume of emails, you should expect to receive a personal response within 24-48 hours". It has been eight weeks since then!!! Such a waste of money. I do not recommended this company for tours.Written September 25, 2024
- weiprechtk0 contributionsDo NOT buy itLet me save you some money. We took the 4 sights explorer card. First, we left our baggage at the station for a fee to make the evening bike tour. BUT the address in the description was not updated and we were rushing through the whole city for nothing. The bike tour happens ONLY if other tourists booked it directly with the company. So, next day there was no evening tour, neither morning Capitol Hills. Thus, we could hardly use all the number of paid experiences. Then BigBus which is included in any pass: the equipment was defect, so the sound quality was awful. We took the water taxi till Georgetown, just to make a bit more of our pass. Inside the boat there is no fresh air, outside - it's impossible to hear any guide, and you don't get earphones for that. Then we finally got one bike tour. If you do it, call their office to find them, it was still challenging. BUT the stuff was unfriendly, they didn't check our bikes and helmets, coz were in hurry to start the tour with other tourists. Thus, I had the wrong helmet size, while my husband's bike breaks were broken. In the evening, we thought to go to the Artechouse exhibition that is included, again, just to use the pass. BUT it works only a few days a week. And it was closed. Next morning, we headed to Arlington for the tour. The location link was sent to the wrong meeting point. The company and the tour guide in particular were doing it for the first time. The description said it had to be a one hour tour, so everyone in the group planned accordingly. We had train tickets booked. However, the tour was supposed to be 2,5 h instead, and we had to live early and saw very little. Here we are, still didn't use our passes and extremely disappointed with the experience. Total waste of money.Written September 6, 2024
- D4486TEmattl0 contributionsAvoid. Disappointing.I purchased the city pass for the day and attended Arlington well in time to attend the cemetery walking tour as advertised. Nobody turned up. I asked many members of the cemetery staff if they knew where the guide was, they knew nothing about the CutySightseeing tour guide and d suggested the tour wasn’t on. Basically a whole morning of a days pass wasted doing something that wasn’t on the pass. The cemetery was beautiful and well worth a visit, but I could have done that on a day I hadn’t paid for the pass. Called the telephone number, it just kept ringing. Tweeted them on X and it was ignored. Quick to take your money but not quick to sort a problem out. Very disappointingWritten August 25, 2024
- 865denisi0 contributionsThe worst waste of money everWe're gonna report sightseeing for failure to comply with the services. This is our fifth day with the card and we have not been able to exchange or enjoy the services that require a prior booking. The app interface doesn't work and the web doesn't solve the problem. We have written two times without answer. Definitively the worst wasted money in my whole life. We tried to find the offices of Sightseeing in the address of Manhattan that appears in the web but is a ghost company that doesn’t exist anywhere.Written August 17, 2024
- reike10000 contributionsBEWARE OF FRAUD !!BEWARE OF FRAUD!!! Hello! We bought “4 sightseeing passes for 6 attractions” on July 13th. The provider has a huge problem with bookings on their website. I wanted to book a time slot on August 2nd at 6:30 p.m. for the Empire State Building on their homepage - and lo and behold - you can't book it, because on their homepage, when you click on August 2nd and want to select the time, October 2nd suddenly appears! Of course, I can't make a reservation because then we'll definitely have a problem at the ESB and won't get in. —> It doesn't matter which attraction you want to book on their homepage - it always says October instead of August. I can also send screenshots and a video as proof - nothing has changed at all since July 13th and this sightseeing pass company hasn't responded to emails (info@sightseeingpass.com)! The provider wrote back once (on July 13th) and asked if they should book the day and time we wanted for us - since then there has been radio silence! Other than that, we only got one automated email back saying we should wait - because we get an answer between 24 and 48 hours anyway. Twice as long has passed...and they just don't get back to us...I've already written lots of emails... Best wishesWritten July 17, 2024
- 741leenv0 contributionsDisappointed: Have I Lost My Money? Is This a Scam?I purchased my Flex Pass for 6 attractions in January. We arrived on July 3rd and successfully used the pass for the hop-on hop-off bus. However, when we proceeded to the Top of the Rock, we were informed that the pass had expired. This is quite surprising and concerning as we are here until July 9th and have invested a significant amount of money in this pass. I mailed Sightseeing Pass but still no answer . I want an urgently reset my pass so we can fully enjoy the remaining attractions.Written July 6, 2024
- cassiesX3215WZ0 contributionsUnreliable- Don’t waste your moneyI would not recommend purchasing this pass. My family and I each purchased the FLEX 5 pass, based on 5 activities we wanted to do. We read all the information/blackout slots the app and website provided. We were unable to use two of our activities that we specifically planned for, as the app states these places were open for sightseeing pass holders, when they weren’t. The app also continuously CHANGED the blackout dates for certain activities the day of the blackout. Extremely disappointed, as we wasted a ton of money with this pass. Save yourself the trouble and purchase a more reliable pass with a different company. I reached out for support from this company, and they have yet to get back to me.Written July 5, 2024
- 580stepheng0 contributionsDo not buy if you’re most interested in the advertised walking toursBoth walking tours (DC memorials/monuments and Arlington Cemetery) did not meet at the advertised. These tours were listed as 89/person and the major reason I bought these passes. Customer service was nonexistent and are refusing refund. This is false advertising.Written June 17, 2024
- 893louisag0 contributionsNot trustworthy- try someone elseWe booked a hop-on-hop off bus tour for 31st December 2023. The website said the tour would be operated by Big Bus Tours. I received my tickets by email and we turned up to join the bus on NYE. We waited over 30 mins and no bus turned up, and when I checked the BigBus website, it stated that they were not running tours that day. My children were upset that the first day of their holiday had been ruined. No emails or notification of this cancellation had been sent from City Sightseeing. We ended up getting another bus tour that day, and having to pay yet again. I contacted City Sightseeing who refunded my money, but after the exhange rate difference, I am still out of pocket. I ended up paying more for the orifginal tickets than I was refunded. When I contacted them again to ask them to pay the difference they have ignored my emails.Written January 17, 2024
- fanien20240 contributionsSCAM - ticket does not scanBought two tickets - neither wanted to scan at the bus. No response from info@citysightseeingnewyork.com , just an email confirming my email is blocked. Nothing less than a scam.Written January 15, 2024
- thegrove850 contributionsA SCAMA terrible experience. I paid for 2 x 2 day passes at $80 each. When I received my vouchers via email it wouldn’t scan at the Big Bus (local parter) operators. Ended up having to buy new tickets because even calling the local partner only showed 1 ticket. Essentially a scam. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Wasted my time and money. And this is not the first time it’s happened - same issue in Dublin.Written December 19, 2023
- Courtenay Z0 contributionsPoor ExperienceWe’ve used passes like these before without issue, but this is not one of them! A prime example is that we’d booked to do the ghost tour on the pass (we’d bought a 1 day pass not a flex pass) but when we arrived at the tour the owner told us that we were not allowed to go because the pass said “scan limit reached”. She said we must’ve bought a flex pass and had reached the limit. We explained (and sent screenshots) of our pass showing it was clearly a 1 day pass and we’d used it that morning with her company for the constitutional walking tour so logic would say it’s still valid! She wouldn’t let us go on the tour unless we provided a credit card which we clearly weren’t going to do given we’d already paid for the pass. So this was either an issue with the pass or the vendor but either way as the customer we were completely stuck in the middle. It makes the pass not worth it at all. Some of the other vendors we visited had issues scanning it (the app was slow or kept logging them out) but otherwise eventually worked. Needless to say it was not a seamless experience and we’re waiting to hear back from the company on what can be done about the fact we weren’t permitted by the vendor owner to do an entire attraction! It’s not as simple as “whoops our bad, here’s a replacement ticket”, we live in Australia and have now left Philly and are travelling home, so not exactly an easy fix!Written September 11, 2023

Do plenty of research before buying including on the attraction’s website. With planning and research you can save a lot of money but the Sightseeing Pass website is at best incomplete and at worst wrong. More sights than it says required timed tickets. We got to the 9/11 museum at opening time to discover we needed a timed ticket, queued 2hours to get one and then a further 30 minutes to get through security. With the time in the museum this was most of the day gone and in hindsight we would have been better buying a timed ticket direct from the attraction. Top of the Rock also required queuing for a timed ticket although this was only about 15 minutes. On a wet day we headed indoors for first Radio City and then Maddison Sq Gdns to discover both tours had been closed for months. This was not on the Pass website and both attractions said they got a lot of people turning up and wasted a couple of hours. Tried to do one of the food walking tours but process so complex that gave up

The pass works fine when it works but the customer service is non-existing.
We went all the way down to see 9/11 memorial. After standing in line the lady informed us that there were only a limited number of tickets available for pass holders so we couldn’t use the city pass. She also said that it was a common problem that they didn’t inform.
I tried to contact customer service through the contact information (twice) but no reply.
We ended up having to rush something not important into our program since it was our last day. Very disappointing

I used the Sightseeing Pass in August 2024 to visit New York City and, overall, I was satisfied with the 5-attraction pass I purchased for myself and my family. It allowed us to save on the entry fees to four skyscrapers that we were eager to visit.
However, my first experience with the pass was far from pleasant, and I was disappointed with the customer service. I had booked the 5-hour luxury tour, advertised as one of the top attractions, well in advance. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we found an old, slightly smelly bus that was not in great condition.
The tour was supposed to include several stops around New York with explanations, but in reality, the only stop was at Chelsea, near the market. We were supposed to walk along the High Line, but the guide initially told us it was closed. When I insisted we check, as it appeared open, the guide responded that the previous day, some people had complained it was too long, so it was better to skip it and head directly to Chelsea Market. We rushed through the market without even stopping, heading straight for the Staten Island Ferry terminal.
We could have made the 11:30 ferry, but the guide decided to make us wait at the terminal for the next ferry at 12:00. Once aboard, we barely had enough time to see the bay, with plans to return on the next ferry.
When I asked what we would see next and how many stops we would make, the guide told me they weren’t sure and that we probably wouldn’t make any stops. At that point, my family, friends, and I decided to leave the tour entirely.
It’s worth noting that the Staten Island Ferry is free, so we essentially lost a paid attraction just to be taken to the ferry on an old bus. I strongly recommend choosing a tour to Ellis Island instead of this one.
Lastly, I submitted three refund or credit requests to Sightseeing Pass and never received a response. Next time, I’ll likely choose a different pass.
Unfortunately, this was a negative experience.

Avoid!
My girlfriend and I bought 5 day passes for our trip after seeing all the attractions listed on the website and agreeing it was the most cost effective and viable way of seeing New York.
A few days before arrival we tried to book the advertised airport shuttle to be advised by the shuttle company that it wasn't included in our pass even though it is advertised. The day before we left we received an email saying we could not use the pass at the 9/11 museum, another which is advertised on their website and app.
At the one world observatory, madam tussauds, rockafeller, central park bike rental, and the escape room we encountered issues with the tickets and delays to entry. It was difficult getting access however these sites eventually allowed us in after repeated conversations about the pass, showing them the passes and inbound flight (day of arrival and therefore activation date).
At Bowlery and 9/11 we were refused access if we didn't pay, so along with the airport transport we spent an additional $150 on top of the pass price to access sites which were advertised as included.
Several emails to the company were ignored whilst we were in the city, and conveniently after the pass has expired they've finally responded and said they won't do anything.
The many issues and additional cost was not worth the price we paid. I strongly recommend having a search around the Internet and you'll find endless stories similar to ours, I just wish we had done so prior to purchase!
Do not believe anything written or advertised on their website/app, it seems like pot luck whether you'll get access or not.

Purchased these in advance having reviewed the activities I would do and budgeted if it was worth it. However the majority of activities that I wanted to do were either closed in winter, or had black out periods over Dec-Jan which is when we were there. You cannot access this information until after the tickets have been purchased. Additionally a lot of the activities you have to line up on the day to tune the sight pass into a ticket to the location you cannot book in advance online. (such as the rockerfeller). This means you line up early in the day only to find out that they are sold out for the next 5 days buy which time your pass will expire. Huge waste of money. When I contacted them looking for answers, there was no reply.

We stayed 7 full days in NYC with the intention of doing as much activity as possible. We therefore took the 7 day pass option. After purchasing it when I started my program I realized that the number of tours bookable in advance were low and I feared the queues to collect tickets for the same day. None of that, no queues, very easy collection of tickets at reception and given the price of tickets, this purchase pays for itself from the 3rd day.
Don’t hesitate if you intend to have an intensive program of museums, excursions, shows…

Purchased 2 day hop on hop off pass includ museum, Empire, statue liberty.
Went to use the bus second day and was told no as we’ve already used it yest but still use for the affections. Lucky we went to the far off attractions that day.
RUDE staff tried to sell us a day pass to use the bus??? The app needs to be updated
The bus stops need to be signed better and what a rip off only can use bus one day? Won’t be using them again. Big bus staff were rude and ignored us “speak to my friend” and he walked off.

The pass worked well and saved money. We had 4 x 7 attraction pass and it saved us over £200 in entry costs. We just turned up and presented the Pass at different attractions such as MoMA , Intrepid, Guggenheim, American Museum of Natural History and then got immediate entrance or a ticket for later in the day. Where it could improve - there are only a couple of attractions that can be booked in advance, such as Empire State, and you cannot book others such as Top of the Rock or One World Observatory which means that if you turn up on a busy day you have to visit the attraction, line up up just to book a ticket for several hours later that day. Additionally when I did try to book a timed ticket for Empire State Building on the website the dates did not work properly. I wanted to book 5th August and when I entered this date it then jumped forward 2 months to 5th October! So I didn't book this - but phoned the helpline number (which is not easy to locate!!) and spoke to a very helpful person who booked us in over the phone for the Empire State Building. Bear in mind if you do book in advance online for Empire State Building you can only book tickets to visit the main 86th viewing floor which is great - but if you want to book the extra visit to the 102nd floor you cannot do this when booking in advance via the Sightseeing Pass - you can pay extra for this when you arrive at Empire State Building IF they have slots available and sadly they did not have any free slots when we visited. Ultimately it works better with museums than it does with something where you want to book a timed slot in advance such as an observation deck visit. Overall though it worked ok and saved us money.

Our experience with this pass was not what we expected, we took one of 7 attractions for each of us x3, and we paid the cancellation insurance in case there were any unforeseen events, we had planned each day and with the 7 pass, we saw what was planned, in the end Due to time and an unforeseen event, we were not able to use the 7 attractions, leaving us with 2 left over.
We called the Sightseeing Pass office, informing us that we could not spend all the passes in the end and that we had paid the cancellation insurance and our surprise was when they told us that the difference of the two unspent passes cannot be paid and that the credit is if none is used. So if there is any unforeseen event that you use only one of the passes, in the end it will be much more expensive. After this experience, I do not recommend that you buy the passes for your visits here, apart from the quality of passes/excursions/visits that they offer. . We took a bicycle tour through Centra Park and although the guide was very attentive, the level of the tour and the condition of the bicycles and the company that carried it out left a lot to be desired. I don't know about the rest of the companies that offer pass packages, but I certainly don't recommend this one. We came to Spain without being able to enjoy all the passes and in the end, the cheap thing was expensive for us. I hope this opinion helps others so they know what they are hiring for.

This is the third time that i write about a serious disservice that i suffered by Sightseeing Pass in New York, together with my wife and my two friends. I had booked a Guided NYC Premium Bus for August 1st, at 9:30 am, meeting point in front of the Starbucks on 47th street and 8th avenue, booking
6B4VBXTX. Well, we waited in vain until 10:30 and no means of transport (bus, car, pick up or other) ever arrived to pick us up. I called the number indicated several times (+1 800 669 0051), but no one ever answered me. I even walked to the Sightseeing Pass location listed on the site (150 W 46th St., Suite 505 New York, NY 10036), but the lady who runs a place at 150W of 46th street replied that the Sightseeing Pass office was not there. Truly an absurd and disheartening experience, which demonstrated to me the lack of professionalism and seriousness of Sightseeing Pass. I hope that at least this time my report will not be ignored as happened on the morning of August 1st and 2st, when i wrote to Sightseeing Pass without receiving any response.

Hello,
We deeply regret the inconvenience you experienced on August 1st. Our records show that over 40 people successfully attended the tour that day, which suggests the tour proceeded as scheduled. It's possible there was a misunderstanding or timing issue, and you may have arrived late.
We apologize for the lack of response to your earlier communications and understand your frustration.

Anybody ever actually received a refund from this company?
I've been trying to get a refund for three, 6 day Adult sight seeing passes for NYC that I purchased on 23rd February 2020 at a cost of $870.48 (including insurance @ $33.48)
No matter how many time I fill in the contact us section of the website, nobody responds and no refund has been given. I must've filled it in over 100 times and still not had my money back.
This company is a disgrace and I would not recommend using them to book a sightseeing trip through. They have been informed on numerous occasions that we are not able get to New York from the UK due to covid and have not received a refund despite it being requested around 100 times over the past 6 months.

Is Empire State building including in this pass? The website doesn't mention it amongst the list of attractions. Also, is statue of liberty and ellis island included? And is there any good cruise included?
Thanks

Ellis island is included. However it's not so nice. I would advice to take the free Staten Island ferry. You will pass Ellis Isand and the statue of liberty and have great view without the hordes of people :-)

Is Ripley's believe it or not included on this pass?

Yes but its not that good and looks very dated.

Hola, me gustaría saber si usaste los buses, como te parecieron? hay que tomarlos desde donde parten en time square, o en cualquier parada? gracias!
Written March 18, 2019
HI, apologies for the delay, we only returned the weekend. we only used the hop on hop off sight seeing bus which we picked up from outside the sight seeing pass office. To be honest it is quicker to walk everywhere as there is so much traffic and lights on every corner

Hi, is entry into Luna Park included in this pass please?

we have the sightseeing pass not the flex pass, so if I am right we have a set amount of days to visit what we want in the order we want, am I right
Written February 12, 2019
hi, we have just bought this pass for our visit in March. Do we have to go to the bus station to get it activated? I have read with the Flex pass that you have to have the tickets printed, is it the same as this pass. Also there are quite a few restaurants listed, how does that work with the pass? sorry to ask so many questions, the website says that we can use the pass as many times as we like up until its expiry and for what we paid it has got me thinking that I am missing something.

We had to go the bus station the day we wanted to activate the pass. You get unlimited bus use plus a single trip on the hop on hop off ferry plus whatever number is activities you choose. This activities then get counted against your pass and they include museums, tower visits and restaurants. The best value usage is to go up One world trade centre and Empire State or Franklin tower as they are all about usd40 each whereas some activities are only usd20 each. You can also use them for a discount on food or a shared taxi to the airport. The New York underground is also great value as you pay a fixed price per journey so combining that with a pass meant we minimised Uber journeys.

Hi, I'm getting quite a headache looking at various passes for my upcoming trip to NYC in April! Does this pass include admission into the Empire State Building? Can you pre-book your attractions? If you have your pass on your phone app, do you still need to convert to tickets at each place? I really don't want to spend the majority of our time there queuing for something I've already paid for!
Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

If it’s the multi attraction pass then you can select where you use it. We didn’t pre book attractions and were able to enter a different queue to the one for buying tickets to process the pass. It works really well though even the queue for the processing the pass can grow at peak times. We used the hop on hop off ferry to view the Statue of Liberty from the river, went up Empire State and one world trade centre (which are great because they are so different) did the world trade centre museum (which takes half a day to give it the attention it deserves), hired a bike around Central Park and had a great but exhausting time. Also don’t miss the High Line walk which is free and awesome
