About
Berat is one of the oldest cities of Albania, also part of UNESCO heritage. It is famous for its characteristic architecture, which has also given to the city the name ‘the city of 1001 windows’.
Through this tour you will discover its rich culture and travel back in time as you stroll through the meandering streets, home to the Ottomans in the 15th century, and at the same time learn more about the architecture of this beautiful city.
The guide includes the visit in these sites of interest:
• The Castle– an inhabited area since the beginnings of its civilization, around 2400 years. It is reach in history and monuments, especially churches.
• Gorica Bridge – The bridge’s primary purpose is to connect the neighborhood of Gorica, over the Osum River, with the beautiful Mangalemi quarter and adjacent neighborhoods.
• The medieval center – was built by Sultan Bayazit II at the end of the XV century.
• Mangalem&Gorica quarters.

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- klark3330 contributionsWe definitely had 1001 adventures1001 Albanian Adventures was an awesome tour company who was easy to book with over WhatsApp and took excellent care of us despite an intense rain storm! Erilda and Geraldo are wonderful caring people who care so much about their community - we're lucky to have learned about Berat from them! Also check out the Solidarity Shop next to the 1001 Albanian Adventures office for gifts, and tastings of local products!Written October 5, 2024
- CJM20130 contributionsA fabulous tour, very fairly pricedSpectacular tour! I've taken many tours while traveling, but 1001 Albanian Adventures is probably the best organization I've ever experienced. Take a look at their website, because they are a unique loval cooperative very worth supporting. They are small, but this gives them the ability to provide a really personal experience. The hike is short and easy, the waterfall and swimming spot were beautiful even in October, and the winery represents new sustainable agriculture in Albania. The wine is quite good, grown from unique varietals, and recognized even in France. Like all tours, your tour guide and driver are the people who make your day, and the staff at 1001 knows Albanian history and is open about sharing their personal views and experiences. This tour will leave you smiling. Don't miss it!Written October 1, 2024
- GrandTour354969920280 contributionsBest Hiking Experience Ever!Genti was knowledgeable and a true leader. He led us and left no one behind. The trail course wasn't easy, but he made us tough and enjoy it. He also took a lot of photos of us along the way without being asked and those were memorable. Thanks Genti. I booked this trip the night before and whoever I had contacted with via WhatsApp was so nice and friendly. He explained and answered all the questions genuinely, even followed up afterwards to ensure I truly enjoyed it. ThanksWritten September 29, 2024
- Victoria C0 contributionsHighly recommendLots of fun. Ervjs was a great guide and the day of activities was great. The waterfall was beautiful and a super easy hike to get there. Wine tasting was great (it's a very swanky winery) with little nibbles.Written September 26, 2024

- M3791EOlenas0 contributionsA great and sunny day in SeptemberWe had a great day at the waterfalls and the canyon. Especially the canyon is worth it. Genti, our guide, knows a lot about the region and explained many things around (animals, herbs, plants...) It is apparent, that he is a local and has many years of experience in his job. In total we were four persons (with Genti five), which was a good size of a group. We had a great day with best weather at the end of September and can recommend to book a tour with Genti!Written September 23, 2024

3 are the words to describe my experience with 1001 Albanian Adventures: Welcoming, Passion and Expertise.
They are young people who have made welcoming tourists a real mission, so that anyone passing through Berat can immerse themselves in the beauty of a land rich in flavours, history and nature.
What they tell with competence and preparation during the tours is enriched by a lively love for their land and a genuine passion for putting the tourist at the centre of the experience.

We went to the Ethnographic Museum and then walked up the hill to do the castle tour. We were very pleased with Erilda and her knowledge about the historical monuments inside the castle area. We had a nice walk around and had the chance to explore and learn more about Berat, including several folk legends :).

It was truly exceptional... Even though I had to postpone the visit for personal reasons, the boy who acted as our guide was very helpful... not only friendly but also kind, he even took group photos of us and gave advice on where to go eat and how to get around Berat and beyond.
