Most of the Kecak dancers are men and the play told is usually the Ramayana story. A distinctive feature of the Kecak dance is the sound of cak, cak, cak which is spoken by male dancers who are mutually friendly. When performing the Uluwatu kecak dance, it is done in the afternoon before sunset, precisely performed at 18.10 - 19.00 Bali time.
