Jimael was a great instructor. He had a positive attitude, made you feel comfortable in the water, and encouraged you. Both me and my 65 year old mom were able to stand and surf a wave at the end. The wet suites they provided for the lesson were really high quality and seemed new.Written February 7, 2023

My girlfriend and I took class at intermediate class for three days.
The guidance with William was honest, super friendly and 100% customized.
Our teacher was Johan.
We took class at two other intermediate classes elsewhere. Thanks to Johans motivational & pushing guidance it really made „click“ this time! Thank you!

I spent several days with the guys from Son Surf and I got a excellent service good and consistent coaching. All guys working there are extremely friendly and always in a good mood. I can strongly recommend this surf school to everybody.

Planning a trip to Jeffreys Bay to learn how to surf? Well, here is the place you wanna go. The location of the school is great only a few meters from the ocean. They have coaches for everyone, no matter witch level you are. Newbie(like me) or more advanced. Great equipment, they care for their boards and wet suits and you can rent everything you need right there at the shop/school. The coaches are really sweet and they know exactly what they are doing. Good learners and also good listeners. They will do what ever they can to make this a good experience for you. Thanks alot to all of you fine people, but espcially thanks to Johan! He helped me from playing in the white wash at the beach break to actually catching some nice waves at Kitchen Windows in only a few lessons. Thank you so much, and see you soon! :)

Loved our instructor that was always there with encouraging tips and hints. He made me feel so comfortable in the water and structured the lesson well. Definitely worth it! I’m even going back tomorrow!

I did a lot of research before traveling from Cape Town to Jeffrey's Bay, the mecca of surfing in South Africa. I consulted Rip Curl and Billabong representatives as well as my own coach in Cape Town. The same name popped up every time: Kelvin Zhemke at Son Surf School. Son Surf School is not only for the beginner. It is also for the intermediate surfer that wants to get to the next level. With his vast experience in surfing himself, as well as coaching top level surfers including several members of the South African National Team, Kelvin is able to give detailed assessment to be able to get better at a much faster rate than you could on your own. Another very important thing is that Kelvin is a well respected member of the surfing community in Jeffrey's and to that end you will find yourself welcome everywhere he takes you. Additionally, his local experience allows him to give you detailed information of every surf break location, it's characteristics, best times to surf, and where to position yourself. I will go back again many times and I will always go to Son Surf School.

Deon is fun and knowledgeable instructor. He was very encouraging and made the whole experience so worthwhile. Would definitely recommend for someone visiting J Bay.

Best Surf school ever. Our coach Deon was exceptional and a real teacher! He taught us all the tricks behind surfing and he was so considerate with each one of us! Well done Guys will definitely recommend you to everyone!

We were out with William and had like the best introduction before entering the water. With his feedback we cached our first wave after some minutes and enjoyed the rides. 100% recommended.
