A shout out to Mike from River Dogz who was our guide. From start to finish he was an amazing guide giving detailed instructions throughout the tour, checking on everyone within our group throughout the tour and he was extremely friendly and conversational. The tour itself was breathtaking as far as the views go in the canyon and the river. The sun hit the cave just right and our pictures definitely looked just like the pictures in the photo online. The cave is small and more like an inlet Cove but did fit all of our group of multiple kayaks in it. There was a short wait for us to get into the cave to take photos as we had to wait for other groups that were ahead of us but totally worth it. Relax and enjoy the scenery while you are waiting. The weather was beautiful just a little windy going upstream but for a short period of time and we had a tail wind on the way back which definitely helped for an easier paddle on the way back. Mike brought along plenty of water and snacks for all of us to have throughout the trip and on our short break where we walked up to the top of the cliff which was a great spot for photos. The water temperature in the river is in the 50s so don’t flip your kayak or you will be really cold. It did feel nice to wade in the water at our rest stop though. If you do bring your cell phone along bring a floatable waterproof case in case you drop it into the river by accident.

Tyler was excellent. He picked the three of us up at the Mirage, drove our group about 50 minutes out to Willow Beach Marina, and provided interesting and historical facts about the area, Bolder City and Hoover Dam along the way. Once parked, all of our carry-ons were safely kept locked in the van. From there we had a safety briefing, got our lifejackets and kayaks and got into the water. It was 100°, but once on the water, the breeze and 53° temp of the Colorado River made it bearable. It was a 4 mile tour with stops and a hike along the way. We saw hawks, eagles, rainbow trout, lizards, and other wildlife. The emerald cave was beautiful, but we had quite a wait to get in as there were three other groups before us. Snacks including granola bars, bananas, tangerines and water bottles were provided. The group had varying levels of kayaking experience from newbies to advanced kayakers. We had teens, families and older folks in our group and a few slower stragglers. It was a pretty good workout. There was one capsize along the way, but Tyler handled it quickly and safely. Tyler also took tons of pictures and downloaded them to our group at the end. There is also a gift shop at the marina with fairly priced food and souvenirs. The trip last from 10:10 am until our return to the Mirage at 530 pm. Overall, it was a very memorable trip and a great time. It was a highlight adventure off the strip and well worth the experience. The River Dogz tour company made it great and everyone seemed to have fun. Highly recommended.

What a great day! Highly recommend doing this if you are in Las Vegas or anywhere in the area of Willow Beach! My husband and I celebrated our 10yr anniversary in Vegas the first week of April 2022 and we are so happy we booked this trip with River Dogz while we were there. The views are just unbelievable. You get to take a break in between at a beach, get snacks and water, catch your breath if you need it and then hike a small climb to the top which gives another chance to experience some of what the Colorado River has to offer, along with some history of that area as well. Then back to kayaking to Emerald Cave. The water was so green it was beautiful. The entire time kayaking was well worth it and we even dealt with a little wind which made for some paddling against the currents. Our tour guides were amazing despite being new to the game and having to deal with people who thought they knew how to kayak. Disclaimer- do not do this trip if you cannot kayak. period. Its really that simple! We had people from 120lbs to 270lbs kayaking just fine. Its easy to catch on how to kayak correctly and the tour guides are with you ever step of the way! Again cannot recommend this excursion enough!!!!! Thank you Rian and Luca for making the best of our time out there!!!! - Love the wild and crazy group from 4/5/22

I just did this trip this week and had a really good experience with them. We had two guides, Danny and a girl whose name I can't quite remember. The guides made it fun even if it was a little bit frantic at times. The views and staff are good. They made sure we made it back on time for our show tickets at 7. They did a good job being accommodating for us on this, but to make the experience less stressful I'd recommend you have this tour be the only thing you do in the day. It will be worth it.
I will mention that someone in our tour had a broken shoulder so they were doing the tandem but weren't very good at it. Our guides were helpful with this as they switched the boats around so that a guide paddled the person with the broken shoulder and made it work. Our other guide also did a good job and sent everyone the photos during the ride back. Great work!
What is weird is that the best parts of the tour for me were the little hike and break we did and not the emerald cove. It was more like going to a zoo to see the pandas but leaving and talking mostly about the prairie dogs!
To improve I'd say maybe a couple of things. First, maybe include on a map of where the pickup location will be, there was some confusion as to exactly where the shuttle van would grab us from the hotel but it worked out.
Second, make it clear the total range of possible return times, maybe some disclaimer when you book that don't have any other plans after X PM depending on the tour.

Hello, This is Alyssa your tour guide from that day. Thank you so much for the honest review! you and your children were a pleasure to have. I do apologize for there mix up. I work in the office part time and we have a template that we use to save us time from typing It up from each guest. The template is for the message we send that informs you about out pick up time. It says that you can expect to be back at your hotel between 5pm and 6pm, we typically hope that after reading this, no one sets reservations for before 8pm because it leaves no room for traffic on the road, or busyness on the river, to get you back to your hotel in time to shower and get ready in leisure. We were not informed before the tour that you had set reservations for 7pm which made things a little anxious indeed, but we did everything we could to get you back in time to shower for your show. I believe that message stating to expect to be back possibly by 6pm is the disclaimer you are asking for from us. As for the map, I am honestly not sure how to create one, or even what program to download to do that, It would be quite a bit of work, so this is why we just call to make sure we can find you as we did the morning before the tour. I am sorry to hear that the cave was not the highlight of your tour, but we do have other tours to offer. Reach out to us next time you are heading to town, and we can discuss the best tour to fit your adventurer style. :)

Booked a private kayak tour with Nacho as our guide. Our little group had 6 people aged 12 through 45. I myself have never kayaked before but Nacho explained everything and made it easy. We went out on the water, saw a beautiful scenic cave, stopped for lunch on the beach, and even went for a short hike and swim. Our guide Nacho was very knowledgeable and personable, telling us fun facts about interesting sites along our drive, the flora and fauna of the area, the history, and about himself. Can’t recommend Nacho enough. The best tour guide on the planet and an overall great human being.

The trip was awesome... The trip there and back was smooth and comfortable. The kayaking staff was knowledgeable and made sure everyone was safe and had a fun time, and provided plenty of water and snacks. Paul (our guide) pointed out historical landmarks, geological information, wild life, and other interesting facts along the trip. On the way back, we stopping at a park in Boulder City where bighorn sheep come right down into the playground, and were then dropped off at our specific hotels. Paul even took over 100 photos and sent them to us afterward.

I would highly recommend this trip to groups and solo travelers combined.

This kayak tour was perfect! Michelle made a great impression from the very beginning with clear communication of pickup time and location. The trip down from the strip to Willow Beach was about 50 min and Michelle offered great bits of historical information on the way. She made an effort to remember each of our names and once we got on the water she was very supportive and encouraging to those who were new to kayaking. Michelle is crazy knowledgeable and her passion and love for her home shines through. It was perfect weather despite the frigid water temps, but coming from WA was nothing unusual. Michelle took some great pics of us while on the water as well as from the top of short hiking trail at the beach stop. Snacks and bottled water were supplied although we were able to bring whatever we’d like. The cove was smaller than I thought it’d be from the pics but still pretty cool to see. And the sun was already behind the hill so the water didn’t look as green as it would have had we gotten there when the sun still shone through the crystal clear water and bounce off the bottom. I still would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for something to do outside of the strip.

We brought our two teens to Vegas for a brief spring break jaunt, and we decided to try this half-day tour to get them out of the city (and off of their phones). Our guide, Preston, was easygoing and knowledgeable about the history and the wildlife, and he was super pleasant, making a point of chatting with each group. We were largely self-paced, and allowed to go ahead or lag a bit behind if we were taking photos or just relaxing.
Despite ten minutes of unexpected rain and some somewhat high winds for part of the excursion, the weather was mostly pleasant and being out on the river was a joy. The water is crystal clear and the scenery is beautiful. The cove itself (really, a grotto, and they DO advertise it appropriately) was not amazing, but a nice place to stop, take photos, and turn around.
We stopped for a short hike with beautiful views and a snack (plenty of snack choices, including fresh fruit, granola bars, etc.). It was a lot of paddling, but that’s what kayaks are for, and my kids both heartily agreed that this was the highlight of our trip!
One tip: if possible, go on a Sunday or Monday so that there will not be any boats. Motors are not allowed on those days, and we had the entire stretch of River to relax and kick back and just enjoy the paddling.
Preston: thanks for making our day!

This was an outstanding experience, and our guide Josh was excellent.

We went in early March 2022. The experience communicating with the office about reservations via text was flawless. We showed up when and where they told us to show up, and had a great time.

Kayaks and life vests and paddles were high quality. Advice and help was good but generally unnecessary with our group. It was a really nice venue.

If there is any negative, the "cave" is a bit of a joke, and if that is why you want to take the trip, reconsider.

For us, the trip to and from the "cave" was great and we highly recommend it. It was around 4 hours on the water and we would do it again.

What an amazing time!!! This was on my bucket list and goodness it was over the top! Our guide, Paul, did an outstanding job explaining the terrain, the history of the area and Paul had great insight of the river itself. The sights were phenomenal, breath taking and stunning as we made each bend in the river. Once at the Emerald Cove, Paul shared more of his great knowledge and entertained us while we waited our turn to enter the cove for our photo opportunities.
This was a class act, the complete tour. The entire staff was knowledgeable, friendly and extremally helpful. The equipment was safe, clean and the staff fitted us expertly according to our skill level. I would highly recommend this kayak tour.
