About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Zoom_Gotti0 contributionsUtah Based Outdoor ToursI've gone on a couple of trips so far with Southwest. Their itineraries are very ambitious and sometimes they run a bit late or drop an activity. The tour leaders are independent contractors so their leadership skills might vary. On multi-day trips they also select the restaurants. Because I'm not a meat and potatoes guy, I found my meal choices limited. On one of my trips I got a pretty consistent dose of Mormon culture and religion. But all in all, they try to cover the bases and furnish you with a travel experience to meet your expectations.Written October 4, 2024
- 288vr0 contributionsKendra, a cut above the rest!I am not a guest for the tour,I am a front desk agent at a motel that the tour stayed at during their tour in September. I want to give a new tour guide Kudos for doing her job/career as well as any seasoned guide. Kendra thank you for being so attentive & involved with your tour guests and communicating with us at the Hampton Inn to insure your people were being taken care of to the best of our abilities. Keep up the good work your doing great!Written October 3, 2024
- fusefromgdayenglishs0 contributionsThe best tour to Bonneville with Mark.Half day tour of Bonneville was just amazing! Our tour guide Mark made the tour so memorable and fun with his friendly personality and great hospitality. He shared many of fun facts about the areas with us to learn the history and nature of Utah. 8 of us were all Japanese on the day and I was honored to be a translator for the tour. Mark's a great driver, photographer, entertaniner and guide who loves his job and takes great care of everyone. Hope to join your tour next year.Written October 2, 2024
- scw00 contributionsExperience great views and wildlifeThis was a great tour. The shuttle picked us up in at the hotel we were staying. The van/bus was comfy and they provided plenty of cold water. Our tour guide was passionate about wildlife and had a lot of interesting facts to share. We saw bison, pronghorn antelope and coyotes. I am not super in-shape or used to hiking, and the hike was manageable. It was a rocky trail so if you don't feel comfortable hiking up the hill there is a nice place to sit and relax and enjoy the view. Advice for people who take this tour- be sure to pack a small snack because you'll likely be hungry by the end of it.Written October 1, 2024
- Bethany B0 contributionsAmazing!!!Son Sari was such an amazing tour guide!!! We booked this tour because we had a morning to waste on our conference trip. We thought it would feel like we were driving a lot, but Son Sari was able to point out the birds flying next to the van, tell us wild stories about racing pronghorns, and all about the rocks around us! The hike was most definitely more challenging than expected, especially because there was a bison in the way! We took an alternate, more dangerous path, but the tour guide helped us along and ensured we all stayed safe.Written September 29, 2024

- painciong220 contributionsA Quick Look at Salt Lake Cities Points of InterestWe took the City Driving Tour By Car. We did not get off to a good start. First of all, the tour advertises a tour by car. Actually it is a 14 passenger black Mercedes van. The website does not identify the capacity of the vehicle. The pick up at our hotel was a half hour late. By text, I was informed that our pickup would be late because it was waiting for a party of a group at another location and a black Mercedes van with the company logo on the side would pick us up. When the van showed up for our pick up it was a white ten passenger van unlike the one advertised on the company's website video with its panoramic windows for viewing. I was then told that bad traffic was the reason for being late. However, to my wife and my delight there was only one other passenger. We choose this company's option because we did not want to be herded around like a group of cattle like the larger bus options offered by other companies. Our driver Mark was very personable, knowledgeable and informative. Obviously he had done his homework. He seemed however, eager to get through the tour. I walked with a cane and he often got far ahead of me. I could not hear him much of the time. He did not make much of an effort to pace with me. We drove past many of the points of interest, did manger to stop to visit the capital and a few other places to take photos when I requested. On another tour the next day we visited a site we bypassed the day before and low and behold we saw the company's black Mercedes van with a tour group parked there as well. Hum! We got lost in the city's huge cemetery and spent much of the time finding our way out. Mark our driver did make an effort to take us through the University campus which was of interest to me since I was a grad student there many years ago. I appreciated that. Our tour, however ended earlier than the three hour duration as was advertised.Written September 11, 2024
- andrewomahony230 contributionsWonderful introduction to Salt Lake CityMy wife and I were lucky enough to have Dima as our guide today. He was incredibly knowledgeable and informative about the history of the city. We were the only people on the tour and he spent over 3 hours taking us round showing us the various sights. The tour culminated in Temple Square having stated at the Visitor Centre. Well worth it if you’re visiting the cityWritten September 11, 2024
- kirka8340 contributionsGood walk of the cityGood walking tour with lots of information about the city. Went a little too long. The tour guide did a great job, just needs to condense some of the information. I would recommend but caution to be upfront with the guide if you have another activity planned following the tour.Written September 11, 2024

Evaluation of the Southwest Adventures Mighty 5 Tour out of Las Vegas 9/6/2021
After waiting for two years to finally be able to experience the Mighty 5 Utah National Parks tour,
we were extremely unhappy with how it was delivered. While the parks were wonderful and our
tour guide/driver was great, the transportation provided was dreadful. The promise of comfortable
transportation via a Mercedes Sprinter van was not delivered. Instead we were put in a Ford van
with inadequate air conditioning and a very poor suspension system. Riding in a hot van for 5 days and 1700 miles in 90 to 103 degrees, while being bounced around during the entire trip was definitely not what we signed up for or worth what we paid. The reason that we selected Southwest Adventure Tours over the other providers was due to the promise of the comfortable Mercedes Sprinter ride. Having been on other tours using these vehicles we know the difference between them and what we were given. Even after the tour guide/ driver contacted the company about the problems and the group’s complaints, nothing was done to try to alleviate the problems. It is a shame that the company treated a group of senior citizens in this manner. I submit that since the company did not deliver what they advertise and charged for, they owe this tour group a significant monetary rebate, and not a credit for a future tour since we doubt we would travel with them again.

I was very impressed with the company, our vehicle, our guide (Hans Kohte), and the whole experience!
If you prefer a trip with four and five star hotels, sit-down meals all the time, and lots of creature comforts (like having your bags delivered to your room) this is probably not the trip for you. On the flipside I certainly would not call it rustic. Our accommodations were always comfortable, clean, safe, and well located but they did not have extra bells and whistles.
We always had one nice sit-down meal a day, usually in the evening, but the rest of the time we frequently stopped at a grocery store or a deli or Subway to grab some lunch and eat along the way, either in our vehicle while driving or at picnic tables at a scenic stop.
Our vehicle was a Mercedes Sprinter with 14 seats and windows all around and tall enough to stand up in. It was very comfortable and allowed for good views from all seats. Since we were a group of 8 plus Hans, the back row of seats was used for luggage rather than haul a trailer behind. That still left 11 seats for 9 people and we were not crowded.
Hans was a super knowledgeable guide, fine driver, and nice guy to spend five days with! He took us to several attractions that were not officially on the tour, which was great! He definitely knew the ins and outs of the areas and what was most important to see and do. Had great stories too!
Our crew was very fun and very flexible. Interesting variety of people - the group gelled very well and it was great that everyone was so flexible.
As to hiking, there were at least a couple each day, sometimes four. Some were fairly easy, some I considered difficult, but I guess it depends on the person and their level of hiking ability. Mine is pretty low so a number were more than I wanted to tackle. Sometimes I did part of the hike and stopped when the climbs got too high or the rocks too uneven. But we could always find alternatives, like one day we walked along the river instead of up the rocks, and another day we followed a low trail with not much ascent rather than the steep path.
Overall, it was a fantastic trip with great people and we had such a good time!! Would highly recommend.

My wife and I booked a self drive tour of the Utah Mighty 5 and it was an unbelievable experience. I had high expectations of the trip and it did not disappoint! The itinerary that we were provided gave us enough direction to guide us and the flexibility to see and do everything. The companies they set us up with for the Canyoneering and ATV tours were top notch and added that little bit extra to our trip. We highly recommend Southwest Adventure Tours and would gladly use them again.

I certainly made the right decision when I selected this tour group for a long awaited bucket list experience. From the initial contact to the final reluctant good bye, I couldn’t have asked for anything more. Our guide, Robin, was the best. He’s knowledgeable, caring, entertaining, responsible, and is a natural at what he does. He made it appear effortless as he quietly got to know us and our ability levels and desires and somehow came up with a spin on the trip itinerary that made us all happy and satisfied all of our expectations. I also felt that the restaurant options were well thought out (all had gluten free items) and the hotels were clean and comfortable. I definitely would travel again with this company as well as recommend it to my friends.

We took the Utah Mighty 5 tour from Las Vegas with our tour guide Shybree. I don't think I can fully express in words how wonderful the whole experience was. This was a 50th Wedding Anniversary trip so we were hoping for something special and we were not disappointed. The tour company was first class and so was Shybree. She was so full of wonderful facts and side interest stories about the land formations and history of Utah. She was always very attentive to all the needs of each one of us on the tour. Shybree was an excellent driver and I was never nervous on even the curviest road. She was excellent at explaining and leading all the hikes we took. She was very good at judging everyone's physical abilities and made sure we were safe on all the hikes. It was truly an experience of a lifetime. Utah is an amazing state! One side note... hiking poles are extremely helpful!!

My husband and I had been anxiously awaiting this trip since last year when we couldn't go due to COVID. This trip far exceeded all expectations, and it was due in part to the best tour guide we have every had...Christopher! The nine others who were on this tour also made this a great trip! The views were outstanding! The meals were superb! All the planned stops were well thought our. The hiking was amazing and well thought out for the group. Our tour guide even added a more difficult hike for 4 of us at Zion and it didn't impact the others! He went out of his way to add extra side tours, and explain everything. I would recommend this trip to all my friends and would recommend this for easy to moderate hikers! Cannot decide which park I loved the best. This was the BEST way to see all the parks in one trip! A trip of a lifetime!

This was our first guided tour and words cannot express how much we enjoyed it.
Our tour guide was great, she picked us all up in Las Vegas the first morning and the next five days were full of adventure and so much information about Utah. At each stop she recommended several different levels of hikes for all of us.
We believe if it wasn't for her driving and knowledge of the area, there would have been sites we wouldn't have seen or known about.

One of the all-timers as far as vacations go. Wynn Hall was our driver/guide and he was FANTASTIC. Saw the Mighty 5 parks up close and did some major hiking (for this 60 plus tourist) and saw some of the most beautiful sights nature has to offer. Southwest Adventure made the process very easy and it was a great trip. You're going to spend a fair amount of time in the tour van getting from spot to spot, but the payoff is well worth it. Don't know if I'd take small kids due to the time spent travelling from park to park, but older kids (and adults) NEED to see these fabulous parks and the beauty of our great country.

Our tour host, Ja Cagle was great. She was very knowledgeable, cheerful and personable. I never felt unsafe in her care, be it while she was driving or in her hiking choices. She always gave the group her undivided attention and allowed us the time we wanted to view the sights.
I would highly recommend her as a guide.

After the tour, the tour company's owner sent an e-mail encouraging customers to provide feedback, so that as he indicated, if there was something that didn't meet our expectations, he can correct it and set things right. Considering that our tour guide is probably not representative of Southwest Adventure's drivers, I responded by e-mail asking the owner to contact me regarding my safety concerns about our tour guide's driving at excessive speeds that I confirmed with other passengers. I ultimately connected with the Director of Sales who was only available for a few minutes, so I asked for a call back to provide a more complete explanation of my concerns. I did not hear back from the Director of Sales or the owner.
