- courtneykG1937RV0 contributionsSweet!Mike was an amazing guide, easy going and knowledgeable! We did the difficult hike and it was the right amount of "climbing" (no ropes or harnesses) for a hot day!Written August 24, 2024
- Uniqueoutlook0 contributionsA great way to see the beauty of NevadaWe had an amazing experience with Michael as our guide. He picked us a trail that was both a good workout but also filled with beautiful landscape. He explained some of the fauna we came across and gave good directions to best navigate the terrain. It was obvious he was sharing his passion with us and made it a very enjoyable experience. As an added bonus his music selection was on par. Would highly recommend both Love Hikes and Michael to anyone looking to walk more than just ‘the strip’ in Las Vegas. **of note we did the Moderate walkWritten December 4, 2023
- Yuki_in_TO0 contributionsAwesome hike in Valley of FireDid the moderate hike at Valley of Fire today with Michael. It was an awesome hike. Micheal was informative and very accommodating - making sure we were comfortable during the few more challenging parts of the hikes - whether it be scrambling over the rocks or coming down through some narrow sections. Highly recommend the tour and would definitely use Love Hikes again in the future.Written December 4, 2023

Our guide, Laura, was very knowledgeable of the geology and plants of the area. She was able to give us all the hike we were looking for, even though we were all at different fitness levels. We booked the advance hike to Valley of Fire. There were just 4 of us on the sunrise excursion (2 athletic couples).Highly recommend this trip if you want to get off the popular park paths and have an adventurous hike through parts of the park you would otherwise not see. Our guide Matthew knew the park inside and out - leading us around crevasses, through small tunnels and caves to many gorgeous views off the beaten path He pointed out many hieroglyphics and had a thorough knowledge of the local area and history and terrain. From the on time pickup at our hotel in a comfortable suv to the hike through gorgeous scenery- matthew provided an adventurous day in a gorgeous peaceful setting for us. We had an amazing day and toured parts of the Valley of Fire we would never have seen on our own.

Deciding to do a hike with Love Hikes when I visited Vegas was probably one of my best decisions! I chose the morning slot and the moderate difficulty Valley of fire hike. We got an amazing guide Sarah who was friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. I got to do this activity with another couple who were so nice and made the day more enjoyable. A small group, plenty of attention and care, and viewing the most beautiful Valley of fire was a day well spent. We did the White Domes trail and Sarah's own route as well and honestly without her guidance we'd be lost in this state park. I don't hike regularly but I walk a lot and I was able to do this hike easily. The morning slots are worth waking up for since the park is mostly empty, it's not as hot and you get to see a beautiful sunrise during the drive. It's a one hour drive each way and we spent close to three hours hiking. I highly recommend this tour with Love Hikes as an offbeat activity when you visit Vegas.

Hands down a phenomenal adventure with our very accommodating and knowledgeable guide Nick safely leading our way on a moderate-level hike with incredible, jaw-dropping views! Plenty of healthy snacks and cold drinks provided to keep you energized and hydrated. Wearing hiking shoes or sneakers with a good grip is a must for Moderate or Intense levels and a light jacket in January as it’s cool in the shaded areas. Truly a fun adventure with a small group on an off-the-beaten path of unexplainable beauty!

We were picked up at our hotel at 12:45 for the 1230 hike, and did not set foot in the park until well after 3 PM…and the park closes at 430 PM. Our tour guide was excellent and this was not at all her fault and she was equally frustrated with the traffic. The current offerings are a 6 AM hike or a 12:30 PM hike. I think it would be smarter to add a midmorning (8-10 am) departure that could take into account traffic but not get you to the park so close to the closing time of the park. Our tour guide did an impromptu survey and none of us in the van would have gone on a 6 AM hike but would have done a midmorning hike. The hike itself was beautiful but was much shorter than we had wished for due to traffic.

Our guide was very friendly and made us feel comfortable during the entirety of the trip. We paid for a beginner tour and she took us on more of an intermediate tour (which we consented to). She made sure we were capable and comfortable with the pace and difficulty of the hike, and even took us to a few cool spots where we could take pictures. The views were absolutely breathtaking. 10/10 the best thing I did in Vegas.

Our guide Mathew was amazing - he took us off the main trails to a secluded site where we got great views and saw petroglyphs. He was obviously very knowledgeable and loved hiking, rather than just doing tours as a day job. Overall it felt like a local showing us around, rather than a staged tour

My husband and I have been coming to Las Vegas for about 19 years now. We always try to do something away from the hustle and bustle of the strip. It was between this and red rock canyon, I’m glad we chose this!
We have done this hike twice now, most recently March 2024.
Let me start by reviewing March 2018. We were picked up promptly by John at our hotel, it was just my husband and I with one other female. He was so nice and kept the conversation going for the hour long drive. We learned a lot about the history of Vegas before we even arrived at our destination.
While entering the park, we saw big horn sheep, and that set the pace for the wonderful hike to come. Its a photographers dream, the landscape is just divine!Be sure to stand high on the cliffs and look around to capture the whole view, they are spectacular!
John shared great personal stories of his hikes and was very informative about the valley. We enjoyed getting to know a little bit about him as we hiked. We did the moderate tour. John made me feel completely at ease, and safe. It was such a perfect day, we didn’t see a single person until the end. It felt as if we had the whole park to ourselves! These sights are not to be missed!!! I highly recommend this tour and I have been telling everyone I know about it. John was amazing!!!
Fast forward to March 2024 and we were picked up by Sarah and this was a hike of 9 people. We were greeted with the most spectacular blue skies day which made for better photos than the first time around.
Sarah was fun to be around and very knowledgeable about the area considering she is a fellow Midwesterner. We got to see some baby big horn sheep as we entered the park. While some of the hike I recalled from the first time, Sarah took us to some places that I didn’t recall from the first hike where got some of the most magical photos! She kept the pace moving and I would love to do the intense hike with her the next time we return.Sarah was simply AMAZING 🤩
I loaded photos from both trips.

My wife and I thought this hike was one of the highlights of our trip! Nick the tour guide was amazing, and picked us up in the comfortable company van right on time. We chose the moderate hike and trip from our hotel on the Vegas strip to the Valley of Fire was about an hour. Nick had cold bottles of water and gatorade for us, along with a good choice of snacks which was a nice touch. He also had extra-backpacks in case we didn't want to get ours dirty.
We have been to many national and state parks and we were both blown away by the scenery. Nick was extremely knowledgeable about the geology, wildlife, history, etc, and was also very entertaining. The formations and scenery were out of this world, and it is easy to see why Star Trek, Total Recall, Transformers, etc. chose to film here. It reminded me a bit of Cappodocia in Turkey. We also really enjoyed seeing all the ancient petroglyphs, different types of cactus and sage, and big horn sheep.
We would absolutely recommend this trip to anyone who is in the Vegas area.

We enjoyed our tour of the Valley of Fire with Love Hikes. Our guide, Nick, took us off the beaten path, which we appreciated - it felt like we were the only people in the whole park as we trekked through the valley. There’s so much to explore! Nick showed us fun spots for pics, small caves and crevices, and overlooks and plateaus. The hike wasn’t difficult at all (we chose a moderate hike but most of it was fairly easy), and it was fun to scramble around the rocks. Nick was also very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of the valley. We eventually made it to the end of a known trail that had prehistoric petroglyphs from the indigenous peoples that inhabited the valley long ago (ancestors of Paiute tribe I think he said). It wasn’t until the very end that we saw other people. It was great to get away from the Strip, and I wish the hike lasted longer so we could explore more, but we were running out of daylight and the park closes at sunset. While it’s possible to explore the Valley of Fire without a guide, we liked being guided by someone who wasn’t going to get lost and was able to share info about the history and nature of the area. Thanks Nick!

This was a fabulous hike! Nick was superb - he knew all of the history of the area and the flora and faun. Amazing off-trails tour with a super informative tour guide! I brought my own gear but we had inexperienced hikers in the group and the company made sure to have all the supplies an inexperienced hiker would need for the trip. This was a very memorable hike and even though I am an experienced hiker I would not have been able to go off trail to find all the great parts of the park we saw and experienced with our guide. Absolutely worth paying for the guide (I do NOT recommend using alltrails for this - you will either get lost or miss a lot of the fantastic hidden treasures). I am sure all the guides are fantastic but Nick McDearmon was super knowledgeable and helpful and I highly recommend him.

Please describe the difference between the moderate and intense hikes. Are the views better on the intense hike? How intense are the inclines? Thanks.
Written February 10, 2024
I would second what the previous answer mentions. I also did the moderate and our group was experienced so we did some of the more intense sections. Main difference would be the additional scrambling and steepness of the inclines and declines. If you are an experienced hiker I would say you'd be fine with the intense option.

We are flying to Las Vegas and need help planning a route from there to Grand Canyon. We want to stop first at the valley of fire and spend a day there. We would like to drive about an hour and a half to a decent motel to spend the night.

Hi ! How long is this excursion ? Is it more like 6h or a full 12h excursion ?
Written September 10, 2019
It depends on your tour and guide. A lot of the stuff is fairly spread out so we picked one destination that was agreed upon & stopped to see a few other sites on our way to the main destination.

Hey, I am coming to Las Vegas tomorrow for a short week. I have a bussy schedule, but I was wondering if I book the 6AM tour, at what time would we be back? Approx?

Planning a trip in June but curious if your trip cover the Fire Waves and Pink Canyon?
Written May 24, 2019
Hi, no, it did not. I did the advanced hike, and we did not follow any trails. I think if there are trails you know you want to take, then there is no need for a guide. Hikes in the US are pretty easy.

Is it possible to see Fire Waves with one of the hiking to choose? Thanks
