- JoleneV950 contributionsTHE BEST TOUR GUIDEWe had THE BEST tour guide on our trip today! Vaga (sp?) was a firecracker from the get-go and made our trip a 10/10. The crystal clear water was so fun to paddle around in. (My 75 year old mother could do it.) We took the 12:45 tour so the water was slightly wavy, but still very manageable. The only reason we didn’t go earlier is because it was booked up already. I would highly recommend this trip and ask for Vaga! She kept these MN/ND gals entertained the whole time!Written August 14, 2024

- brooksp7850 contributionsCaution: Last-Minute Cancelation Ahead! Our experience with Clearly Tahoe was unfortunately quite disappointing. We booked the scenic shoreline tour at 6:45 am, diligently adhering to the numerous reminders to arrive promptly by 6:15 am. However, upon arrival, we found the office closed and a line of customers waiting. At 6:25 am, I received a text informing us that the tour had been canceled due to weather conditions. While I respect the company's concern for safety, the weather appeared brisk but beautiful, suggesting the potential for an enjoyable outing. Regardless, safety must come first, and I appreciate that sentiment. However, the late notification of the cancellation was frustrating, especially after waking up at 5:00 am during our vacation. Additionally, other guests mentioned that they had experienced multiple cancellations in the past, which raises concerns about the reliability of bookings. The staff's dismissive attitude, attributing the issue solely to weather, did not address the core problem: the need for timely communication. I recommend potential customers be aware of the possibility of last-minute cancellations and consider this when booking. Clearly Tahoe needs to improve their policies and procedures to notify guests of cancellations well in advance. This adjustment would significantly enhance the customer experience.Written June 15, 2024
- Z734ODkent0 contributionsLake Tahoe Kayak TourThis is one of the best kayak tours we have taken! And, we have taken quite a few around the world. The views were amazing, especially around Cave Rock. Our guide, Jason, was the best. A history of Lake Tahoe was shared that was entertaining and accurate (my wife was born and raised here). Clearly Tahoe provided clear kayaks to enhance the views, shuttle service to the lake, and plenty of water and snacks. And, Jason provided a number of photos he took at the right time and locations to supplement those we took. If you want to have an unforgettable experience, this is the one.Written June 12, 2024
- X8197NCmaryb0 contributionsSuper fun!Tour guide Ethan was awesome! Super fun experience. Really well-planned. They give you a water-proof bag for your stuff, and each person gets a cooler with water and granola bars. We did the Bonsai Rock tour, and Ethan got out on top of the Rock and took photos of each person/group as requested.Written October 22, 2023
- Andrea D0 contributionsHoneymoon Experience of a LifetimeThis was absolutely worth it! Our tour guide Ethan was awesome! Not only did he teach us a whole bunch of Tahoe facts he also interacted with us on a personal level! He was absolutely so much fun to have as a guide! We had originally scheduled it for am early day but due to wind conditions they rescheduled which I thought was great for the simple safety precautions taken on their behaves. The day we went the weather was PERFECT and the water was crystal clear! Thank you for the experience and the memories!Written September 29, 2023

- dsully6140 contributionsFantastic tourGreat way to experience the lake. The clear kayaks provide a cool effect, and we loved how the larger boat drops you in a great location. The tour is geared towards the novice or casual paddler as you stay with your group the whole time on the kayaks. We came away with so many great photos. Our guide Lauren did a great job of providing stories and facts about the lake. Well worth the price of admission.Written September 4, 2022
- S7220HTkathrynh0 contributionsUNIQUE, MUST DO EXPERIENCEExcellent from the moment we checked in. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable with humor mixed in. Beautiful views through the clear kayaks. Our guide Lauren shared lots of facts on Lake Tahoe and also added in some jokes! Love that she took pictures of us. Can’t say enough good things about this unique experience. Want to try some of the other tours they offer but this is definitely a MUST DO. Thanks to all our crew: Denise, Ryan, Lisa, and Lauren.Written August 21, 2022

We reserved in advance the clear bottom kayak tour that began in north Lake Tahoe, just a few minute drive from where we stayed at the Hyatt Regency Resort. We opted for a 9:00 am tour given the warnings that later tours have a higher risk of being cancelled due to high winds causing the water to not be as clear. The air temperature was also obviously cooler in the morning but be forewarned that even in the morning when you're out there in the sun without any shade AND rowing a kayak you can feel pretty warm. Kaitlyn was a great guide, sharing information about Lake Tahoe along the way and taking tons of photos of us from atop Bonsai Rock.

What better way than to spend time kayaking in an all clear kayak on Lake Tahoe! This kayak company takes the gold in customer service and this amazing tour. Josh was our superstar guide; his passion for the outdoors and leading these tours is extraordinary, his knowledge and stories about Lake Tahoe were amazing and he takes lots of pictures of each family unit and airdrops them to your phone at the end of the tour. We did the very early morning tour to avoid crowds and experience the serene backdrop and beauty of the lake and surroundings. This is a must do tour (even with no kayak experience) and a wonderful highlight of our trip!

With Vega in the kayak next to me, I had an absolute blast. She's a wonderful, knowledgable guide (and a just plain amazing person!). We paddled for two full hours, starting at 7 AM when the lake was like glass. Okay, I did need one brief break where she towed me but otherwise, this 73 year old never stopped paddling and smiling. It's impossible not to be happy on Lake Tahoe. Please go at 7 before any chop appears in the water.

Our guide (Jake) was friendly, engaging, and very knowledgeable about the lake and surrounding area. He even took some videos and pictures of us on the water and airdropped them to our phones at the end of our tour. We did the 8am tour- the lake was calm and glasslike, making it very easy to paddle to Bonsai Rock and back. By going early, we also beat the crowds- the lake was getting crowded by the time we paddled back in about 90 minutes later. I’ve done many guided kayak tours in different places, but this one has been my favorite by far. I cannot recommend this tour enough. Book this trip. You won’t regret it, just try to do an early tour if you can!

The view is amazing. This is an experience that you should at least try for one time. The staff teams are very friendly and nice. Our tour guide Josh tells us about the history of the lakes and lots of interesting stories. He also helps us takes lot of good pictures. We are wondering if the guide could have a form of venmo for tipping? Because guides have back to back group tours and often times the guests didn't realize the guide will not return the tour bus with the previous group.
The kayak route is relatively short which is a little surprising considering the cost

My wife and I did a bonsai rock tour 1.5 hours. The staff was very friendly and trip very organized and easy. It is a pretty slow paced easy activity. Our guide Scott was knowledgeable and provided some interesting history of the lake during our paddle. It was a little expensive, however, for the first time or or somebody just looking to get on the lake with a guide, I would recommend this activity!

We had a great time on our Bonsai Rock tour! Our tour had to be rescheduled from the day before due to water conditions, and we are so glad it was because the conditions were absolutely perfect when we did go. The people at Clearly Tahoe were wonderful - they communicated the changes with us via text and phone call and were very accommodating in rescheduling us. Our guide, Justin, shared plenty of interesting facts about the lake and took great photos of us in our kayaks. Would definitely recommend doing this tour!

It was our first morning at Lake Tahoe, and my family had booked reservations for a morning tour leaving out of Incline City. Our lodgings were halfway around the lake, and though we left in what seemed to be plenty of time, we hit unexpected early morning construction traffic along the way. We tried both calling and texting to let them know we were going to be a tiny bit late, but weren't able to get through to an actual person.
On arrival, approximately 2 minutes after check-in time, we were informed that not only had we missed the shuttle, but they wouldn't provide any kind of refund. So this business took $575 from us, and gave us exactly nothing in return.
Needless to say, this was a pretty lousy way for us to start our family vacation. I can't remember ever being so blatantly ripped off. If I could give a negative-stars review, I would.

Dear Emily,
I am sorry you missed your scheduled tour. We do have a mandatory check-in of 15 minutes prior to your scheduled start-time and our policies, (which you agreed to at the time of booking) explicitly state that late arrivals or no-shows will be non-refundable.
Our call records do indicate that you attempted to contact our main reservation office at 7:40am, yet you did not leave a voicemail and therefore, we had no indication that you tried to contact us or were running late.
I see that one of our representatives did reach out to you via text message at 6:36am from our direct shop line to help facilitate your arrival and again at 7:44am after you missed your scheduled check-in yet, they never received a reply or a call back from you. At 7:51, they attempted to call and again sent a message to inform you that if they did not receive a reply, they were not going to wait and you would miss your scheduled experience.
Even with absolutely no communication with you, our team did attempt to wait a few extra minutes prior to departing. When the first two members of your party arrived at 8:02am, you still had not completed your liability waivers and were still waiting for other members of your party to join. Your entire had yet to check-in, complete liability waiver and get outfitted.
At the time of booking, not only do we provide detailed information of the address and check-in location, we also make recommendations on where to park and when to arrive (which is 30-minute prior to your scheduled tour). In addition to this, our on-site representatives went above and beyond to contact you to help make necessary accommodations.
While you may feel that you did not receive services you purchased, we certainly prepared for your group prior to arrival which was upholding our end of the commitment we make to our guests. Our team arrived to work, took all necessary steps to prepare for your family and had your boats ready on the beach prior to your arrival. With no-notice of your inability to participate, we were unable to accommodate other guests on the (4) boats you had reserved for this experience.
I do have records that our reservation team followed up with you in attempt to discuss rescheduling options which you declined.
I again, am sincerely sorry that you never had the opportunity to participate in one of our guided tours. I hope you understand that we could not delay our operation to accommodate your group with no indication of if, or when, you were going to be arriving jus to run the risk of causing a shortened experience to the other members of the group who did arrive on time.
If you do decide that you are interested in rescheduling options, please feel free to contact our reservation office to discuss options to rebook. Please contact our reservation office at reservations@clearlytahoe.com with any additional questions or concerns you might have in regard to this matter.
Sincerely,
Clearly Tahoe

My teenage daughter and I did the Bonsai Rock tour (in a tandem kayak) out of Incline Village and it was absolutely amazing. The advice to get up early for the first tour of the day was right-on. Gorgeous weather, every single person we interacted with from Clearly Tahoe was kind, professional and helpful. Kaitlyn was our guide and she provided really interesting information about the lake and its history throughout the tour. It is a really cool aspect of this experience that the guides get up on Bonsai rock to take photos of you in the beautiful scene and airdrop them to you before you even leave the beach. I highly recommend this tour company and this experience in particular!

This was the highlight of our trip! We did the Bonsai Rock tour on the clear kayaks. We chose this option because if you rent clear kayaks on your own, you are only permitted to go within a certain range of Sand Harbor and you can't have the kayaks for very long. The tour gives you the option to go farther along the coast- plus your tour guide takes photos of you which is helpful!
The pace is very gentle- we took it nice and easy down to Bonsai Rock, great for beginner kayakers.
Choose the earlier morning tour if you can- the water will be calmer and there's less boats on the water to make waves.
My only tip: while they do provide you with water bottles and a cooler for your kayak- they were not cold. I recommend bringing your own cold water bottle to stash in the cooler.
