About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- HPSGene0 contributionsBeautiful Tahoe East Shore Trail rideExcellent service, equipment and great experience! So much fun and beautiful scenery. Easy to lock your bike and get down to the water along the trail or stop off at Sand Harbor. We rode from their shop in the village and followed the path to Sand Harbor beach. On the return, we stopped at the Tunnel Cafe for lunch and then hike up to Monkey Rock leaving our bikes secured at the Tunnel Cafe bike rack. We rented for all day and used every minute of that time!Written September 20, 2023
- VijayKrish0 contributionsWould pick bike shop close to Tunnel creek cafeReserved two adult bikes and kid bike to do the trip from Inicline village to Sand harbor beach but we had to cut short the trip as we were delayed by traffic to reach vista trail bikes from Tahoe city and we went in the wrong direction to get to the start of trail. Pros: Friendly customer service. Cons: 1. Bikes are not NOT new. They are old and squeaky when brakes are applied. Wasn't very comfortable. 2. Kid's bike left hand brake wasn't working. So daughter had to rely on right hand side brake especially going down the slope from Village blvd to lake shore blvd leading to skidding on the incline couple of times. 3. While we got a map from the store, the directions were challenging so we took the wrong direction first when we hit lakeshore boulevard. Having the directions listed out in words would have helped. 4. Parking is difficult at 9 or 10AM in that place. They did refer to another parking garage. But was lucky to find a empty space here. 5. The ride from village blvd to trail head start is about a mile and in 100F heat its exhausting. The road on village blvd is not flat and while coming back its an uphill climb. Unless you and kids are super fit, it will be daunting to get back to the bike shop. So do think about that case. Next time, i would get the bikes from the bike shop close to Tunnel creek Cafe which is start of trail to sand harbor beach. Parking there is plenty and no issues. So park the car, get the bike and head to the trail. The trail from there to hidden beach is not very easy as there are climbs but the trail from hidden beach to sand harbor is flat. So either rent e-bikes or be ready to do the daunting climb from tunnel creek cafe to hidden beach.Written July 22, 2023
- Jlf200 contributionsBeautiful views and fun time!Great time on the e-bikes. The e-bikes made it easy to experience the east shore trail all the way to Sand Harbor. It is a beautiful scenic trail with amazing views. We loved spending our day this way. The bikes were top notch and the team members at vista bikes were very personable. Will do again on our next trip here.Written July 16, 2023

- GrandTour548336827630 contributionsBest part of the tripI've referred every friend/family that goes to the Tahoe area to come here now. Everyone can't believe how great the bikes are and the trail alongside the lake - it's such a hidden gem and I have no idea how it's not the most talked about part of visiting/things to do! You literally end your journey at the most beautiful Sand Harbor beach. It's such an easy path. Friendly, quick customer service we pre booked and were in and out in five minutes. I will regrettably say their ebikes have ruined other ebike experiences for us everywhere we go though, because Vista Trails are actually FAST and fun like a little moped. You can literally rev it without pedaling. I keep thinking every other ebike will live up to the ones they use here and they truly do not lol.Written November 5, 2022
- willibadw0 contributionsAWESOMEWe had an awesome time on the E Bikes. They trail was amazing and the views from the paved trail were phenomenal! We loved that they had the assist and throttle option at the end of our ride to assist up those hills! Super friendly staff. Informative instructions on how the bikes operate. Great honest customer service! Thanks Vista Bikes for an unforgettable ride.Written October 29, 2022
- danrH131WA0 contributionsFamily e-bike ride. The trail has spectacular views. Take the time to stop at the vista piont's. Pack a backpack with water and snacks. If you are planning to play at the beach, make sure you are prepared. The beach is at the end of the trail where you will need to turn around and go back to Incline Villiage North Lake Tahoe. We rented e-bikes which made it enjoyable for everyone, even those out of shape. E-bikes are easy to ride and make it easy for everyone to enjoy. No one needs to be left behind because of age or being out of shape. At the beginning/end of the trail, the Tunnel Creek Cafe is a good place to refuel (sandwiches, burgers, and salads) at a reasonable price. There are restrooms along the trail. Make sure you bring snacks and water. Rent the bikes for 3 to 4 hours and if you are planning to spend time at the beach rent the bikes for all day. Just to ride the trial from start to finish without stopping I would estimate 1.5 to 2.5 hours.Written October 16, 2022
- Kim_F_CA0 contributionsFun and memorable experienceFun and easy e-bike rental. We were looking for something fun to do near the water in north shore Tahoe and this was the PERFECT thing to do. We didn’t have a reservation, as we were not sure what time my friend would make it from Louisiana after storms and connecting flights from the south, so we just showed up to see what was available. We were greeted by two friendly employees and did an easy check-in and given a quick run through of how the electric bikes worked. We were on our way to Sand Harbor Beach (5 mi away) in no time at all via the amazing Tahoe East Trail along the water. We rented the bikes for 2 hours, and got directions on how to get on the bike trail and back. We had an absolute blast and already have this event queued up for the next visit. Excellent rental facility and customer service.Written September 6, 2022

- Lyssa15360 contributionsE-Bike Rental was the best experience on the tripMy friend and I rented the e-bikes. She and I often ride bikes at home, but for this ride, I definitely recommend renting the e-bikes. The trail goes up some pretty steep hills. The trail is not scary, but it would be difficult on a regular bike. The bike rental place is in town up the hill from the lake. The journey begins going down the hill towards the lake. This is a main road but there is a path off the road to ride on the whole time. Then at the bottom of the hill you ride along the millionaire homes. Once at the end of that street you journey up the mountain along the trail with the prettiest views and access to various hidden coves and beautiful beaches. The bikes need to stay up at bike racks but each bike comes with a lock. The bikes are easy to ride, but they are heavier than regular bikes. So be careful getting on and off. My friend and I both almost fell getting off. If you don’t stop in any of the coves/beaches, 2 hours is enough time. But if you want to stop and enjoy any of the spots, you need at least 3 hours. We signed up for 2 but went over into 3 and he just charged us for the 3 hour rate which we had discussed prior. The man showing us the bikes was very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend this experience.Written July 22, 2022

- DindyBear0 contributionsMost fun I have had in years! The guys are so friendly and explained everything we needed to know to get going on the trail. We had so much fun and enjoyed stopping wherever we wanted to along the way. The bikes are easy to ride and the seats are very comfortable. Best helmet I ever used, felt secure and easy to adjust. Will definitely be back to rent from them again. Glad we paid for all day so we did not have to rush.Written October 1, 2021

This bike tour showcases some of the best views of Lake Tahoe in just around 2 hours! We rented the electric bikes which made going uphill a breeze. The route is overall very safe, with wide paths for bikes and pedestrians. We went in the winter, so there was not as many pedestrians on the trail, which was great. I would highly recommend wearing gloves in the winter as it does get quite windy and chilly while biking. We made stops along the way to capture the gorgeous views, which I would recommend, since we did end up enjoying the views along the way more than the views at the final destination, which was Sand Harbor Beach. One thing to note is that Sand Harbor Beach does also require payment upon entering. Overall this bike tour was a fun way to see the gorgeous Lake Tahoe.

Thank you so much. Glad you had the chance to experience one of our rare winter rides where the trail was clear and you get the added beauty of the snowcapped mountains in the background as well. Hope to see you again!

Vista Trail Bikes provided a seamless experience from the easy sign up to providing directions to their facility to providing the E-bikes and the easy bike prep for my wife and I. We were already familiar with e-bikes from other vacations and I put Vista Trail Bikes in the top 3 were have ever had. I highly recommend that you give Vista Trail Bikes a try and experience the iconic East Shore Trail ride to Sand Harbor Beach!! It will be memorable all around.

We haven't been on bicycles for years and weren't sure how it would go, but with their easy-to-learn e-bikes and great service, we did a 3-hour self-guided tour and had a blast. We could stop when/where we wanted to and enjoy the views of gorgeous Lake Tahoe. They provide good bike locks, so we were comfortable enjoying some time at a beach, too.

BEWARE: Owner is comfortable taking advantage of overcharging for the bike rental. Sort of like the rip-off "Resort Fee" at hotels, he explained "if everyone else does it so why not" him. Believe it or not the $5 additional hidden fee is to cover the cost of the SPAM that is immediately hitting your inbox and cell phone. He says "They charge us for the service so we pass that cost on to our customers". I requested he remove the $5 charge and he was happy to do it. However, the dishonesty of it lingers. SUGGESTION: give fake email address and cell number. And of course, request that fee be removed. Other than that, the bikes are good quality but costly and the owner was pleasant to talk with. However, I would recommend rental bikes closer to the main trail.

Well eventually every business will get a review like this. After repeatedly conceding on price and giving the gentleman a free extra hour at the end of his ride(paid for two and kept it 3 hours) he still felt the need to be dishonest. He did threaten to give a bad review in exchange for a refund and we did not as a matter of principle. We will never be blackmailed!

This was the weekend getaway that I needed. The guys at Vista Trail Bikes did a great job and the bikes came with locks, storage bag, a bottle of water, i small rack with bungee cord, bell and a full battery charge. My wife and I rode for approximately 20 miles along the coast of Tahoe and surrounding area. The bikes are solid and had plenty of juice to keep us going up steeper inclines. I am 260 lbs and the bike carried me like I was 110. The scenic views and the cool mountain air had me feeling like a kid again. The beaches and crystal clear waters were amazing and we even found a restaurant and bar at the end of one trail. You must be somewhat fit and adventurous for the steeper trails, bike paths and people on the path and also have the ability to ride around people on the trails and vehicles as needed with common sense.
This is a must do if you like riding bikes, like adventure and what to see a lot of the area in a short time. Corey & Robin from Lake Havasu City, AZ.

Customer service was great. Best to make reservations (which we didn’t) and luckily they were able to accommodate us. They were friendly and very nice. I definitely recommend getting the e bike vs the regular bike as parts of the trail are up hill. It is quite a long trail to get to the bridge along the lake but worth it!! You have to be 18 to rent the e bike. We had to get a regular bike for my daughter who is 14 and we ended up switching and taking turns using it. The trail is absolutely beautiful and I highly recommend doing it. Take a bottle of water (the bike has a bottle holder and a small bag to put personal items).

Check in was easy, Rad brand e bike was easy to learn to ride. Only a couple hills where the extra power was necessary. Great customer service. Trail along the coastline can be completed in 40 minutes to Sand Harbor beach. Entrance to San Harbor however is $2, so everyone just turned around and did the trail run twice. I started at 9am when the trail was empty. By 11am, there were too many hikers and bikers to dodge on the way back to return the bike. Use the bell ringer loudly and often to avoid collisions. 3 hours was plenty enough time to casually enjoy the ride and take in all the sights of Lake Tahoe.

Thank you! Glad you ended up having a good time. Indeed our E-Bikes are easy to use. Sorry for the extra crowds that day but still happy you ended up having an enjoyable ride. Our apologies if we did not give you advance warning about the $2 fee to get into Sand Harbor State park. We do recommend spending time there as it also is gorgeous and offers many amenities and scenic attractions.

Absolutely fabulous! I’m 65 and it was so user friendly! The trail was perfect! They gave us a bike lock so we could stop at the points of interest and walk down to the lake. The views were spectacular! Only negative was navigating around dog walkers not keeping an eye on their pooches that would try to run up to the bikers while in motion.

The views were unsurpassed. The customer service was excellent. Staff made sure I understood how the e-bikes worked and the best path to take to enjoy the views of the lake. This would have been a five star review except for the higher prices than other e-bike rentals along the lake.

Thank you for that feedback. We do get your concern about the price, but we feel the small difference from our competitors is justified. Our E-bikes have the optional throttle making them superior with that added and very convenient (and almost necessary) feature. Alongside what we feel is a superior and personal orientation for getting the most out of the whole coastal experience with its multitude of side and integral attractions we feel it is a superior value. Thank you again for your feedback!

Highly recommend! This was such a fun experience. Definitely worth the cost for the amazing views and amount of time you can be out exploring. The electric bikes make easy work of the hills - I’m overweight and out of shape and had no problem. Combined with the wonderful customer service, we will definitely be back!

Hello, how do we get back from San Harbor? Is the 3-4 hours include a round trip from Incline Village to San Harbor?
Thank you for your time
Written July 6, 2022
The return trip from Sand Harbor is the same as getting there on the elec bikes. It's on a new, large paved bike path (with a cool tunnel). This path runs through the beautiful Incline Village. It's an easy FUN ride, can't get lost. Bring drinks and snacks, a hat too.

The description says the ride starts in Incline Village and ends in Sand Harbor. Do you turn around in Sand Harbor and ride back to Include Village, or does someone pick you up and drive you back to Incline Village?
Thanks
Written May 2, 2022
It’s round trip. You ride down to Sand Harbor, spend time there if that is your final destination, and ride back up to Incline Village to return your rental when done. Well maintained bike and pedestrian path the whole way with views of the lake.
