- Z3322ISrhondap00Absolutely love this place, it was so fun thank you for the experienceMy now fiance to me to this amazing place, it was so entertaining and he proposed to me there on stage after the play. I totally love this play we will be back again in the new season. Thank you all for making this such a memorable day for us. David and Rhonda Pence
- I4624LXkathyp00Great tourWhat an enjoyable tour. Our guide was insightful and knowledgeable. We went from the bowels of the castle to the highest point.
- jnutb00Just Ok History TourThe castle is pretty cool and some of its history is interesting. We had a really hard time understanding our guide. It may be because she talked too fast. Overall, just an okay tour
- AAAJYNS00Don't recommendThe host was funny, pleasant, cheerful... Other than that the castle doesn't have anything else to offer. Fake furniture, just a tour for an old building that is not impressive or thrilling at all. There's more mystery in abandoned old houses..
- 184breeb00No thanksComplete waste of time. It is so weird that you have to pass by all of the fences with barbed wire on them. It just does not feel safe.
- Seaside3323993141700Waste of money at the Pythian CastleWe did the murder mystery dinner. Food was below good. During the show, someone had to continuously give the actors their lines over a loud speaker. Audience participation was stupid. Over $95 and wasn’t worth even $20. Wow, never again to something like that at the Pythian castle !!
- Jenea D00Neat placeMy daughter and I toured this with our homeschool group. It was alot of fun and very neat to hear the stories. We plan on going back for a haunted tour.
- carolrN3306XM00All I wanted was a photo! We simply wanted a photo of the castle because of its interesting architecture. There was no way to do this. We tried driving around the area and its view was block from every angle.
- Annette f00Todd was a great tour guide we had a wonderful time the castle was really cool had a lot of history great if you have aThe tour is a must If you have one hour to spare in Springfield Missouri you should go The price is right for what you get
- Kay D00We just wanted information, but we were chased away by a crazy woman!Wish there was a lower rating. We were looking for information for a destination wedding, but we were met by a crazy woman running out of the castle yelling and threatening us! We left the property hastily and will gladly spend our wedding budget elsewhere. This is a horrible way to treat potential guests!
- Divefamily4ga00Worth your time, informative history, stairsI was surprised on a Thursday at 11:00 a.m. there was 23 on the tour. Ages varied from 9 to 90. It was informative and made me wonder why this information is not more commonly known in Springfield. The guide was personable and willing to answer questions. Stairs and only two times do you have the opportunity to sit during the tour. I am a local and this was my first time visiting. I would recommend if your relatives come to visit or you are looking for something different to do in Springfield. All four of us felt it was a pleasant surprise compared to our expectations. Ages 60 -90 and we are family even thought TripAdvisor thinks family must include young or teen children. Photos not allowed during the tour accept two locations.
- FellowTraveler46491800HORRIBLE Double feature...We were with a large reunion group attending BOTH the escape room and the ghost tour afterward. The host was unbelievably rude, very unorganized, and it was most definitely the worst escape room in existence. The ghost tour was so bad we left half way through the tour. PLEASE, I'm begging you, do yourself a favor and spend your 70-100 bucks somewhere else. I truly wish we had! If you do have to attend, bring your own snacks or water. There is NOTHING at this castle once you're locked in it. And that's no joke...
- janicebQ6114CS00Good tour, enjoyed it!There were 10 in our group that did the nighttime ghost tour. Everyone enjoyed it. Some wished it would have been scarier. There were a few of us that didn't go because online it said there were lots of stairs, but those who went said there really weren't that many stairs.
- TomGum00Stepping back in time.Old photos, history, story of structure. Would like to have seen actual living quarters, bathroom facilities of early residents.
- Adhv00Poorly ExecutedThis escape room is too expensive for the experience. We have done numerous escape rooms and escape races; I would estimate around 40 of them (we also have a 100% success rate on escaping). This is on the higher price side for an escape room. At this price point, we would expect higher tech gadgets, an electronic clue system, air conditioning, and a more polished feel for the theme. In this particular room, the guide stays in the room the entire time. Our particular guide did not allow for group discussion/ brainstorming very well. The clues were poorly executed and at times illogical. They really need better testers before beginning a room. Save your money and do an escape room elsewhere.

I signed up for this ghost tour after my positive experience on the History Museum ghost tour. The Pythian Castle ghost tour failed miserably to accommodate COVID safety precautions and I would not recommend it during this time. It is the law here to wear masks and for a paid tour I expect for the tour operator to ensure the safety of all those attending regardless of the personal beliefs on masking.
Upon arrival no one was enforcing the masking order in place by our local government. We checked in at the driveway which would seem like a great place to ensure everyone was aware of the masking requirement but people waited inside the building mingling around without masks. A second opportunity to remind visitors about the requirement to wear masks was available at the introduction. The tour guide failed to do so and escorted us into another room. There were approximately 40 people gathered in this small room without adequate spacing of the chairs. At this point the guide asked if those people who were not masked had masks. Instead of making them leave he radioed for masks to be delivered and we sat there in a close environment with unmasked individuals. They were provided masks about 20 minutes into this part of the tour.
We were split up into two large groups of 20 people. This is too large for this time and was too many people for the guide to manage. The guides failed to regulate the continued wearing of the masks including the proper coverage of both the nose and the mouth. We waited to the back to try to space out and when we finally were able to enter some of the smaller rooms to look around another guide would turn out the lights and tell us it was closed. This is not very accommodating of people who are scared of Covid and trying to just wait their turn.
The tour itself was just okay. I hope that the tour is modified to include less people per tour. They could use smaller groups and shorten it to 1 hour. The tour does not need to be 2 hours. The content was far less than the History Museum and double the time. Enforce the masking order at the beginning and throughout. Make it a safe environment for all those attending.

Boring. Uneventful. Low quality video/audio.
This is basically a meandering disorganized tour of an old, empty and smelly building.
There are probably more ghosts in my new house than in this otherwise useless relic of a building. Would be better to convert into an art museum or an events venue. In either case, major renovations are needed.
There really is nothing to see or experience other than the outside of the building. Inside it is a hollow shell of banality.
The thing that most annoyed me was that we were led through a narrow pitch black tunnel that had dangerous pipes, steps and a wet floor only to end up at a DEAD END. We were teased that this was going somewhere but I guess it was a way to kill another 10 minutes of nothingness.
AVOID. The only ghost here is the ghost that stole your $.

What was advertised as a small group of up to 15 people turned out there were 44 of us on the tour. That is way too many people to move from room to room. Our guide was great and energetic, but the size of group made it difficult to enjoy the tour

The two tour guides were amazing. Very knowledgeable and answered as many questions as we had. It was a little disappointing that there was such a big group. The listing showed the tours as intimate with 15 or fewer guests but there were 70 people that toured the castle at once. Again, the tour guides were amazing, just didn’t like the big group.

To many ppl on the tour. Groups need to be smaller and the talking amongst the crowd ruins the experience. The tour guide , the shorter lady with the shirt curly hair was not so friendly! Would have liked a more “paranormal type tour” spooky and EVP sessions.

We bought our tickets online, arrived early as usual. I couldn't believe the location, as we arrived, there was a nice guy who checked is at the gate. The castle was beautiful on the outside. Another couple was early, we took turns taking pictures for each other! There were maybe 40 people total, they divided us into 2 groups. Our tour guide was very nice, the tour lasted about 90 minutes. We had a great time, the castle was really nice inside too! Not so much full of ghosts, but it was entertaining!! We did hear a whistle, and I think I maybe got a picture of a ghost, but it was probably just dust!! Have fun on this tour.

We took our teenage boys. They liked it. I would have liked to "explore" a little more independently and with some ghost equipment. I felt the tour guide's experiences and stories got a little dull after a certain point, but my husband disagreed with me and liked the stories. Either way, the castle was cool and interesting to see. Definitely something everyone should do at least once. Dress in layers. Parts of the castle are chilly. Wear comfortable shoes. There are a lot of stairs.

This was so fun!! The guide was fantastic and the castle was amazing. When we asked if there were any spirits to cross the dousing wires, they did. I got some great pics of orbs and lights too. I'd do again. It was the best $20 I ever spent.

There’s not much to do in Springfield, but this tour was a good choice. It was a very large group (40-50 people), instead of the small group tour they advertise. It didn’t compromise the experience, fortunately. You also get to learn about the history of the castle, which is very interesting.

This was great. We were there on Halloween night. A guy took a photo and caught a shadow figure! I was able to catch an orb and some white mist or a possible orb moving. The tour was fun and the lady leading was informative and new the history of the castle really well. Would definitely go back and go through again.
