- 1Playa de Los Muertos is a treasure attraction in Sayulita,Nayarit. It is a smaller more private beach where one can enjoy floating, swimming, and snorkeling in calmer, beautiful, tropical water. Before arriving to this beach, people can enjoy the cultural beauty of Sayuilta´s Panteon (Cemetery). In Mexico, cemeteries don’t only honor the dead — they’re also a colorful celebration of the culture in which those people lived. These beautiful cemeteries are proof that no matter what tragedy we face, the human spirit will not only endure, but also thrive. Playa de Los Muertos can be accessed by foot, bicycle, and/or paddleboard. The scenery and peaceful energy make it a great place to exercise, meditate, or do yoga on the beach. One can get away from all the action in town and enjoy a small retreat with friends and family. Depending on the tide, there is also a fun small cliff jump for thrill and adrenaline seekers.

- emmakW2620OY0 contributionsHugo is a great instructorWe participated in a private surf lesson in Sayulita instructed by Hugo. He was very supportive and kind. The experience was one of the best during our trip in Mexico. We were created a safe environment to learn and challenge ourselves. Hugo was very patientWritten February 14, 2024
- agnesrH2416HB0 contributionsLoved it but my companion struggled. She overcame her fear of heights and kept going through! The hike is very challenging and as an avid hiker, I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge. It should be advertised as challenging though as someone unfit could experience excessive stress on their cardiovascular system. Steep incline, scrambling over boulders on all fours as you get closer to peek.Written February 3, 2024
- alonzog8070 contributionsLearning to surf in SayulitaLearning to surf in Sayulita was amazing. The waves were great for starting out and Milo, the Instructor, was extremely helpful. The WildMex staff were very friendly and inviting. They were helpful and knowledgeable. I will be coming back to Sayulita to surf again.Written January 6, 2024
- Whitney H0 contributionsIf you want to take a surf lesson do it! It’s great! My husband and I did a private surf lesson with Hugo at WildMex. We have taken two other surf lessons before, but Hugo was the best instructor we have ever had. He had so many great tips and tricks and was very patient and kind. If you get the chance to take a surf lesson do it! Request Hugo he was amazing!Written January 5, 2024
- Madeyemom0 contributionsMemorable hike up Monkey MountainI really enjoyed this hike with my guide, Milton. The shady path through the jungle was lovely, and there were excellent views in both directions. The path is steep in parts, and requires some rock scrambling at the top, but I didn't really have any difficult (68 year old woman.) My guide helped me identify and navigate some of the trickier stretches. I highly recommend this activity.Written December 13, 2023
- ltr63950 contributionsGreat afternoon in the surf with CesarMy wife and I had a great afternoon with Cesar at La Lancha. His guidance had us standing up and riding waves in no time at all. Would highly recommend.Written October 24, 2023
- C1460RNeriks0 contributionsTrustworthy, knowledgeable, and fun!WildMex Surf is the go-to company for surfing in the Sayulita & Punta Mita area! The shuttle service was safe and offered a great opportunity for groups to create camaraderie. My instructor Daan was so chill and and made my session fun & relaxing. He is great at pointing out opportunities to surf better and more efficiently. I cannot recommend WMS & Daan enough!Written September 18, 2023
- sarahi9950 contributionsFantastic sunset jungle hike in SayulitaWe had a fantastic hike through WildMex! Originally, we were supposed to do the Monkey Mountain Sunset Hike - however, we decided not to because it was wet and muddy. Instead, our guide Alex took us on a gorgeous jungle hike along the coast. (Alex was very friendly and knowledgeable - he presented a few different options and helped us plan what we wanted to do.) Overall, it was a great experience - I highly recommend it! For our jungle evening hike, Alex took us to a gorgeous hidden beach and a beautiful lookout point to watch the sunset. As tourists, we would never have the know-how needed to navigate the trails and identify all the natural features -- it was invaluable to have an experienced and friendly guide! Along the way, he pointed out many beautiful plants and animals to us - these were really fun to learn about. Tip: Alex also mentioned that he's passionate about mountain biking - so I would suggest looking into mountain biking excursions with him at WildMex! Another 'pro' is that Alex & other guides that he work with take great care of the trail - he cut away thorny branches that were hanging down to protect us and other hikers' safety. It was clear that they really know the area well and work to take care of it.Written July 30, 2023

- jimvanallen0 contributionsGreat surf experience with Al at Wild MexGreat experience! My wife and I did a three day private lesson surf camp with Al as our instructor. We have both been surfing for a couple of years so we were looking for tips to improve and also to just have a guide to show us around the local break. Al was fantastic. He helped us at every step and gave good instruction. The whole experience with Wild Mex excellent. They are building a cool facility at La Lancha, and the shuttle to/from Sayulita is super convenient. They had nice boards we could rent and they took excellent care of us. I would highly recommend Wild Mex and Al specifically for surfers of any level.Written June 30, 2023

- youcancallmeLo0 contributionsStill the best in SayuStill cannot say enough good things about WildMex. Second trip to Sayu because they are the best in the biz. I say that with experience with 6 different surf companies in 3 different countries. I learn and advance more with WildMex in just a few days than I do in weeks with other surf schools. The instruction, specifically Roberto, is top-tier. He's very detailed with his critique and instruction in terms of technique, and talented when it comes to teaching. He's very mindful of where I am in the water at all times, being cautious to keep me safe and out of harm's way. This trip to Sayu, I lost my phone and luckily had my computer, so I was able to communicate with them through FB messenger. They are very responsive and wickedly helpful. I was able to arrange a trip with WildMex to Puerto Vallarta to secure a new phone. Not only did they give me recommendations in terms of different price points for different modes of transportation, they set up my transportation to get me there safely and quickly after my surf session. When I returned from my surf lesson, Roca (Erick - WildMex owner/operator) offered me a free ride to Puerto Vallarta with one of his employees who was headed in that direction (shoutout to Laura - HR manager, sweetest soul). Not only that, my instructor who lives in Puerto Vallarta, escorted me the entire way, helped translate at the Mac store when my limited Spanish wasn't adequate, and arranged for a cab to take me back to Sayu safely. He even checked in to make sure I made it home in one piece. Honestly, WildMex is worth every bit of penny I spend with them and I am so grateful to have found a company that has not only helped me excel as a surfer in such a little bit of time, but also a company whose employees are eager to help with not just surf-related things, but anything I need while in Sayulita. If you are looking for a company that can make your trip seamless, and stress-free - even in the most stressful situations, but most importantly fun and educational, look no further - this is the company for you. I feel blessed to have met the right people here in Sayu, who I can now call friends. I look forward to every trip here, not just for the superb waves, but to reconnect with the people who make coming back to Sayulita a positive experience. Thank you to everyone at WildMex, you really embody the spirit of the surf lifestyle, and I will never forget the amount of kindness and generosity the whole team provided with every encounter. Yew! ¡Yew!Written March 6, 2023

I had never biked in Sayulita before and did not realize there were single tracks that can be accessed right from town. Javier was my guide and not only did he provide a fantastic experience he also gave me some very good tips on how I could be better on my bike. Being from Colorado I have ridden a lot and even so, he improved on my skills considerably. My explanation of the trails will not do them justice, but they were truly unique and amazing. Riding through single tracks in the dense jungle was the highlight of my trip. There were technical sections that were challenging, but also some nice long stretches of up hill to get the heart pounding. The trail system is complicated, but easy to navigate with a guide. I would not take a beginner on these trails....the down hill sections were flowy and super fun. I highly recommend taking this excursion while in Sayulita or the surrounding area.

As an avid PNW mountain biker I was unsure about signing up for a ride in the unknown jungles of Nayarit. A friend recommended Wildmex and told me the owner Javier would take good care of me and show me the goods. I met Javier the night before my ride and he seemed passionate about the sport and he let me know all the proceeds of the ride go to trail building and maintenance. Huge props to him and his team!
The next morning I met with my guides Hugo and Sebastian. We were joined by a roadie from B.C. who turned out to be a decent mtn biker as well. They set us up with short travel Marins and we cruised through the village of Sayulita into the jungle. The trails were well-maintained, flowy singletrack with a bit of rooty tech mixed in for fun. The pace was perfect. We checked out some current trail projects and passed by a beach after some intermediate DH. The views were spectacular as was the weather.
I highly recommend this ride for the quality of rental equipment, knowledgeable and entertaining guides and beautiful trail systems.
I look forward to going back to seek out more jungle singletrack.

I first want to say that our guide Yan was great. He was patient and sociable and appreciate his help, as was the rest of the staff. And the bikes were great. The scenery was also marvelous. However, for us, this ride did not go well. We actually booked an easier ride as we are in our late 50's and not mountain bikers. We regularly road bike in the Midwest United States which is a lot different than mountain biking. I told them that our experience was limited and was looking forward to the easier ride. Instead, at the last minute, they convinced us to do the single track mountain bike indicating it was no harder. Let's just say that I fell 6 times and am happy that all I ended up with were bruises and minor scrapes. So for avid mountain bikers, you will love this. But do not go on this trip if you are not experienced. Later we traveled the area we would have ridden and it was wide and easy, with the only obstacle being dirt and rocks in the road. I would have been happy with that.

We appreciate your feedback since it's very important for us to listen to all our clients, also is important to mention that it was not our intention to take you and your husband on trails that were beyond your capabilities, we just wanted you to experience the natural beauties that our area has to offer.
I believe you are right, our Malpaso Singletrack Trail System is designed and built with riders that have had previouse Singletrack Mountain Biking Experience, and due to the conversation we had with you, we misinterpreted your Mountain Biking experience.
We only wish you would have let us know about your feelings when you finished the ride and came into our shop, since that way we could have bettered your experienced by taking you on a less technical ride at no cost either that same day, or any day after.
If you are ever in the area again, please give us an opportunity to take you on a ride that is suitable for your MTB Technical experience.
As additional information, all our Mountain Bike rentals and Tours profits go towards trailbuilding and maintenance in the area, we have been building MTB trails for 5 years with the goal of creating quality experiences for our visitors and a place were us local bikers can ride.

Javier guided us on a roughly 17 mile road bike ride on old Punta Mita Road. The road is busy and the cars/buses are racing; neverless, I felt save with Javier. He made sure we had some ocean views with stops at two beautiful remote beaches. He also took lovely pics.

Its a bit of a hidden gem but if you're in town and like to ride mountain bikes you should stop by to rent a bike (or book a guided tour). The local trails are well built and you'll find yourself spinning up singletrack under a jungle canopy to the top of a mountain that overlooks the coast. Then its a fun ride back down where you'll probably choose to do it all over again... its that much fun.

We are originally from Colorado and avid mountain bikers, so once we found out that there were mountain biking tours; we were all about it!!
Taking off straight from the shop in town, through the neighborhoods to the trail was perfect! The trails were a nice blend of climbing and downhill! Just wish there was a little more breeze, it was HOT!
Our guides’ dog, Mia joined us for the adventure! Highly recommend!

I ended signing up for the group ride and was the only one on the tour. I had a great guide who showed me the trails in Sayulita (you can ride right from town and five minutes be on the trails) and helped adjust the suspension on my bike. I had so much fun riding the trails. Super flowly and great break from surfing. If I was there longer, I would have rented a bike and rode by myself after learning the trails. Great little features and trails for intermediate riders. They provide helmets and even gloves. A definite must if you are mountain biker staying in Sayulita.
