- 714christam0 contributionsDriving with Miss DaisyOur cruise ship stopped in Nicaragua and we had the honour of hiring Daisy and her driver Caesar. They took us to see all the spots we had on our list. It was such a fun day! Great information about their country. Daisy even took us by her house to meet her pet chicken Pigeon! We toured her local markets, stopped for some Victoria cervaza and toured a small shop making corn and plantain chips by hand! Best stop on our cruise!Written February 13, 2019
- Cathy F0 contributionsGreat day at the Banana PlantationWe took a tour with a very thorough guide named Albert who wore a blue shirt saying "Nicaragua's Best" as a Holland America Shore Excursion . I think it was this company. Albert was an excellent guide giving us a lot of information on the trip up to the banana plantation and processing plant. His English is Excellent with only a slight accent. I could not believe he never studied in the US. He was eager to give us a good tour. The day was beautiful and our stop at the hacienda was really nice. The workers in the banana processing plant were friendly and happily showed us their work. We learned a lot and really enjoyed the outing.Written February 11, 2019
- costaricadiver0 contributionsWhat a fun time!I used Eric and his team for unique behind the scenes visits in Costa Rica to local places not on the beaten path. We saw multiple generations making hand made pottery, watched a giant turtle lay her eggs in a beach and went to a restaurant with a local wild parrot population. Also lots of information and stories in the national parks. One on one attention and great value.Written February 8, 2019

I was searching for tour options in each of the ports of call on our Panama Canal cruise when I came across Nicaragua team Tours on Trip Advisor. I contacted Eric by e-mail and asked if Daisy and Caesar were available on our day in port and what our tour options could be based on time in port. He presented us with two options. After several e-mails back and forth we settled on the Flora de Cana Rum distillery, Chinandega, El Viejo( to view a church second to the cathedral in Leon City) and Corinto City. It was easy to spot Daisy right outside the cruise terminal as she was holding a sign with our name it. She directed us to her air conditioned car, introduced us to Caesar and off we went. Our first stop was the rum distillery after which Daisy and Caesar showed us the "real" Nicaragua taking us off the main streets for a drive through the local market, touring a church and a small museum, sharing with us local fruits, baked delicacies and lots of information regarding their way of life. She even sang us one of her favourite songs before showing us her home. My husband and I had a fantastic day exploring Nicaragua with Daisy and Caesar. We would highly recommend them. The price for the 6 hours we spent touring was comparable to a combination of two of the ships tours but we saw a whole lot more! Definitely good value for your money! Thanks Daisy and Caesar for a great day!

On February 23, 2020, We were very fortunate to have found Reynaldo Romero to be our guide in Corinto. We had been conversing with him for a couple of months concerning the things we would be seeing. We arranged a small group tour for 6 – 10 passengers, then posted on Cruise Critic to arrange for others to join us. We were able to view the volcano’s and get a history lesson. We visited San Jacinto to see the mud pots, very fascinating. On to Leon to visit the Cathedral, climbing to the top to view the city. In El Viejo we visited the home of a family who make wonderful pastries called rosquillas and ojaldras. Wonderful little pastries, we had coffee and pastries in a nearby café. Unfortunately the Basilica of El Viejo was closed due to a conference in another community. We visited a market selling so many beautiful handmade items and fresh fruit, nuts and vegetables (amazing how large the papayas are!) We received many pictures of the areas that we would be visiting prior to booking the tour. The cost was very reasonable and well worth it. Both Reynaldo and his driver were amazing and we would recommend them to anyone.

We were a party of five and none of us had been to Nicaragua before. We got off our cruise ship in February 2020 and decided to do a private tour with Nicaragua Tours Team. Another couple from Switzerland joined our group and we set off on our tour. What a great experience. The driver spoke little or no English but our tour guide was very fluent and knowledgeable. We left it all in his hands as to where to take us and what he thought we needed to see. We had a very enjoyable day, leisurely and saw the highlights of Nicaragua. It was easy to pick this tour up just off the ship and we were more than satisfied. Excellent service all around.

Another party did not show so we had the driver and the guide to ourselves for the entire trip. They took us to Leon to local areas we may not have seen with a bigger group. It was more of a full day trip than a half day trip. Stopped along the way to see the scenery also . Very personable and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend

Had a wonderful private Shore Excursion from Corinto Port including Flora de Cana Rum distillery, San Jacinto Mud pots and Old Leon. After first contact Eric responded to all our questions fast and reliable with lots of information. Not necessary to say that a pick up directly from the cruise pier was no problem. Eric and Cesar - besides being absolutely knowledgeable - organised a perfect day with even additional small stopps to get the most out of our time on our short stop. we two ladies felt perfectly safe and well cared for while visiting this beautiful country. Highly recommended tour operator.

Initial contact with Paola and Cesar was responded to quickly with a recommendation to do a private tour to Chinandega and the old city. They were much closer than the other city commonly toured. They met us with a comfortable car just where they said they would be at the dock. We initially went to a very interesting museum where a young knowledgeable student gave us a personal tour. We drove to our city tours where after visiting the sights we went to a bakery that bakes a typical set of cakes. We then went to a good restaurant where we ate a large plate of assorted dishes. The highlight for us was Paola invited us to visit her home for a birthday party for her father. At the party we were welcomed by her family who sang a long and stirring birthday song as we ate cake together. Paola also sang to us as we went to Cortina for a city tour on our way back to the ship. The $75 per person cost of the tour was so reasonable we were glad to pay for the lunch for the four of us. We were so pleased by the service we added a $10 tip for Paola and $5 for Cesar who was an excellent driver. Instead of a 4 hour tour we spent nearly 6 hours together. This was the best tour we have ever experienced.

We found Nicaragua Team Tours on Tripadvisor when looking for things to do while in Port for the day on our Panama Cruise. There was a group of four of us. Two of us have been here before and the other two it was there first time. I chatted back and forth multiple times with Eric by email. He was very prompt with his responses. Very knowledgeable & friendly and all around fun to talk to. It’s hard to please four people when we all wanted something a little bit different out of your day in Nicaragua. Eric managed to set it all up to make everyone happy! He was an absolute pleasure to deal with. I wish booking all activities was this easy. We booked a city tour of Conito & Leon, stop at the Boiling Mudd Pots & a tour of the Flor de Cana rum facilities. Cost us $70USD a person and we were gone pretty much the full day. The price was excellent compared to the group ship tours plus we saw way more. Plus this was 100% customizable!
On arrival we followed the directions provided by Eric. We met Daisy (Guide) & Caesar (driver) right outside the cruise terminal. They had a sign so we know exactly who they were. No waiting, no wondering. We were in the van and off we went. We stayed in front of all the busses the whole day. It was so nice to be at all the stops with out bus full of people.
Daisy & Caesar were so friendly and welcoming. Daisy’s English was excellent and she was very knowledgeable and proud of her country! Caesar spoke Spanish. So we didn’t communicate a lot directly but Daisy translated so we could still feel like we were all talking. We had such a fun day with them! We all got along very well and it seemed more like visiting family then on a tour with strangers. Caesar was a great driver and made us feel safe the entire time. We could always get a laugh out of him by doing something funny! They were also both great Photographers! They took tons of photos for us and with us! We rarely even had to ask. They would just offer! They also had cold beverages with them that they offered many times thought the day!
Our first stop was the farthest spot which was the mudd pots. The drive there was lovely we got to get a feel of the country side (farms) of Nic. We arriving at the mud pots where we were the only people there besides the locals. They are hard to describe but boiling mudd right below the surface of the ground miles away from a volcano. It was very neat to see and we were glad we got to see it. The one thing that took away from it was the local kids wanting to hold your hands and pestering you to buy something then request money at the end of it. Other then that we felt they were worth seeing. You can get very close to them and feel the extreme heat coming from them. The locals (adults & kids) will bag some of the mudd so you can take it home for facials. Not sure how it doesn’t melt the bag. I did not take any home but Richards Aunt did. She had no problems getting it on the cruise ship and no problems getting it home to Canada. If you are unstable on your feet I wouldn’t recommend this location.
We then headed out to Leon. Most of it was a driving tour but we did get out and check out the city centre & the cathedral. The Cathedral was incredible. Daisy did a great job explaining everything to us. She took lots of time to answer our questions & show us unique things that you might not pick up on. Like the 3 eye’s located in different spot of the cathedral.
After that we were off to your rum tour. We lucked out and received a private tour there. I really like that they allowed Daisy & Caesar to come with us. This is normally always a group tours as per Flor de Cana. They took us on a journey through the stages of building the barrels & a few of the storage facilities. There was also a movie and a museum. But you do not get to see the distillery. There was a sampling room where we got to try one fair size sample (Caesar & Daisy did not sample as per there decision). Then is a gift shop you could sample another 2 type. The espresso one was amazing. The Flor de Cana guide did an incredible job. He really made it a fun tour.
Our final location was a city tour of Corinto. They showed us the local school, playgrounds homes &the stunning shell beach. Then Caesar & Daisy dropped us off at the entrance to the Port and we said goodbye to our new friends. it was a pleaure to spend the day with them!
We would Highly recommend Caesar, Daisy and the Nicaragua Team Tour Company! If we are ever back in Nic for a third time they will be the first and only email we would send!
