- oliviai8250 contributionsExploring Khiva with a Great Guide!Great guide! She was very knowledgeable, very kind and warm. We learned a lot from her and we are happy we chose this tour! You can't visit Khiva without a tour guide, the city is filled with history, so highly recommend!Written November 14, 2024
- B4389SLjudithk0 contributions15-minute ‘masterclass’The ‘masterclass’ took in total 15 minutes. After entering the restaurant, you will be seated at a restaurant table close to the kitchen door. A served will place a bowl with flour, yeast and salt on the table. A lady from the kitchen then appears, asks you to knead, and after 5 minutes, return with rested though she prepared earlier. The server translates for the lady through Google Translate, and speaks poor English himself. After punching some motives in the dough with the stamp, you take it to the outside oven. After a minute, it is baked and to be enjoyed with jam and a cup of tea. This all costs €15 euro’s, which corresponds to a night’s stay at a hotel, or a more than decent meal for two. I would not recommend this masterclass, as it feels just an way for a restaurant to make easy money.Written November 13, 2024

- Bozeman-Dublin0 contributionsDecent Tour, not great but decentThe bus tour was decent, not bad but not without its limitations. The positives first. It's air conditioned, Also I learned a lot from the commentary, and the places on the route are reasonably close to the bus so you can mostly get a good view. On a hot summer day it provided a good introduction to the city. Now the less than positives. The main drawback is that it is not hop on-hop off. It's a 2 hour loop but you can't stay behind and get on the next tour bus. You get 10 minutes at the Mosque Minor and 20 at Hazrati Imam Complex, the rest you see from the moving bus and you can't get on or off. It took me three of four seats before I found one with a working port for the earphones. Not cheap, quite expensive actually, but yeah I'd recommend it if you want an easy way to get a good handle on the city.Written September 2, 2024
- Bunty80 contributionsEnjoyableWasn’t sure what to expect, but it was very good. The theatre is quite small, fortunately we had seats few rows from front. Show lasted around an hour, during which times the performers would dance in the various costumes through history. Unusual but enjoyable show.Written June 21, 2024

- Navigator141109029840 contributionsAn unforgettable experience! My wife and I wanted to take this opportunity to include Khujand, Tajikistan, with our travels in Uzbekistan. The services provided were top-drawer! They included airport pickup and drop-off in Tashkent, and hotel pick-up and drop-off for the Khujand excursion (which we extended to two nights in Khujand). Best of all were the guides --one in Tashkent and the other in Khujand -- who were quite knowledgeable and very personable. They took pains to make our experiences unforgettable!Written June 16, 2024
- MarioD12270 contributionswaste of time. They offer scam tours. The description has a program, but then the reality is totally different. This can be easily verified. Don't waste your money, and especially your time.Written June 14, 2024
- HafodBlueMountains0 contributionsGood if you have an interest or knowledge of politicsPolitical repression in the museum's exhibits began with Tsarist Russia then the Soviet era, so a broad span of late 19th to 20th centuries and some historical visual footage too. At the time of writing only English displsy titles, no details, but it's possible to get a general understanding eg that Koreans moved en masse to Uzbekistan (don't know why though). Well laid out exhibits in large, bright rooms in a beautiful building, just below the actual memorial. An English guide is available for an extra cost. Highly recommended when English explanations are provided. No photos allowed.Written April 20, 2024
- hazelzhel0 contributionsKind Immigration officer/Staff in SamarkandThe staff at the airport named Farouk was very helpful when we didn’t find our baby stroller, waited at the airport while he communicate with the airlines. Informed us that once they found the stroller or received a call from abu dhabi airport where we depart, he will deliver it to out hotel but gladly before we left airport while waiting for the taxi to arrived, he found our stroller!Written March 13, 2024
- Gorgan810 contributionsUnique and spectral placeMuynak ship graveyard is pretty far from Khiva. Despite the long distance I went there from Khiva. I woke up at 5:45 AM and came back in Khiva at around 10 PM. Muynak is 400 kilometers far from Khiva. I warmly recommend tripadvisor users to go to Muynak but not from Khiva since it is too far. The best option is to spend one night in Nukush which is halfway. In Nukush there is also a beautiful mosque to visit. You can reach the ship graveyard in a couple of hours which is something doable. The visit of the graveyard doesn't take that long...less than one hour. A little more if you also want to visit the related museum. I strongly wanted to visit this place. This is why I didn't care getting up so early. It is a very fascinating and kind of spectral place. It's not common to visit a place like that. Only a few ship graveyards in the entire world. it is also possible to climb on top of one of these old and rusty wrecks. A unique experience.Written March 3, 2024
