We had a fantastic time on the Real Portland Tour! Our guide was a true native of the city; his pride in sharing about his hometown can't be matched. We took the tour on our first morning in the city, and highly recommend starting your trip that was as it gave us a great sense of the city and ideas of places we wanted to visit. The guided part of the tour takes place mostly within the van as you drive through the city, with 3 stops to walk around the lighthouses at your own pace. Our guide sprinkled history in with jokes and current events happening around town, which we found to be the perfect mix. Really cannot recommend this tour enough!

Convenient pickup point near the Customs House, right on time. Reservations are necessary as the tour frequently sells out. Guide was a local who was very knowledgeable tour started in downtown, and gave a good overview of the downtown are. Then it proceeded to the three lighthouses - Portland Head, Spring Ledge, and Bug Light. Adequate time at each for pictures. Worth the price.

We loved this tour! Derek, our guide, is a native and born entertainer. In addition to the interesting facts and highlights of this beautiful city, it was clear he loves his hometown. Very personalized tour. He brings you to beautiful lighthouses with plenty of time for photos while hi-lighting the city’s colorful past and current starring role as the “city for foodies, breweries and the arts.” It’s no wonder people are moving here in droves. Tour goes quickly and when you step off the bus you’ll have plenty of ideas of where to dig deeper, where to eat and where to tips few. Highly recommend

This was one of the best city overview tours I have ever been on. Derek our tour guide, who was born and raised in Portland, was extremely informative, very funny, and made you feel at home during the 90 minute tour. All along the tour route he would point out history tidbits of the area, house, building or the person that was associated with the spot. We had plenty of time to visit and take photos of the beautiful Portland Head Lighthouse, Spring Point Lighthouse and Bug Lighthouse. His shuttle van was very comfortable for 12 people and was also airconditioned. I highly recommend this quick overview tour of the city of Portland.

There are tours and there are TOURS. This was the capital one. An owner led tour by someone who loves and is so proud of his home town. Now add to this a natural born stand up comedian,a gifted rapper, a curious person, a reader of history, especially about Maine,a promoter of good local restaurants and a person who truly wants his clients to experience Portland as he has. The 12 of us got out of his van with wide smiles and a love for Portland and its history.

This was the best thing we did in Portland. We strolled around town, took a lobster boat tour, which was great, but this tour was fabulous.

Derrick is a Portland native and really knew his stuff. His informative narrative was so insightful and provided such great information relative to the area, history and fun facts that it kept us riveted to our seats.

He drove us through downtown and other historical districts with a great sense of humor and sense of history. His local perspective growing up in Portland gave him a unique sense of credibility.

This tour was the highlight of our trip to Portland and I highly, highly recommend it to anyone.

My wife and I took the Real, Portland City tour with Derek. He was an awesome guide. Lots of excellent, interesting information, both historical and anecdotal. When not conducting tours, Derek is a librarian and has access to lots and lots of information. The van holds 13 people and was full. After touring the harbor and downtown, we went outside of the city to see three different lighthouses. The narration was interesting and easy to understand. We enjoyed the tour.

This was a great tour. It hit the highlights of Portland and surrounding area in a 90 minute, fun and interesting tour. Derrick was pleasant, entertaining and very knowledgeable, with lots of facts that only a native Portlander would know. I like that the bus is small (10 seats) so it's more intimate.
